The office staff is nice enough but I found Dr Mahoney to be condescending and impatient. It's too bad, I was happy to have found a woman. I also didn't appreciate the constant upselling of products. I was sold an eye cream that caused inflammation and redness to my eyes, which I had to deal with at my own birthday party. i later learned the cream sold to me contained an ingredient I was clear about telling the physician assistant I was allergic to. no apologies, not refund, nothing. I had breast augmentation with Dr. Ellen A Mahony over a decade ago. No issues, I was in pain for only one day, hardly any scars underneath my breast, they feel absolutely real, they look amazing, no issues with healing, i would love to return for a tummy tuck and possible breast augmentation again, as every 10-15 years, you're supposed to get them re done. Three months ago, I had a labiaplasty performed by Dr. Mahony. Throughout the process, most of my pre-op and post-op care was handled by her physician assistants. These women were absolutely wonderful -- patient, informative, and compassionate. They made a very personal and sensitive experience feel safe and supported, and I'm truly grateful for their care. Today marked my 3-month post-op appointment. I expressed a concern about lingering swelling to the nurse, who kindly suggested I bring it up directly with Dr. Mahony. This was actually my first time seeing Dr. Mahony since the surgery. When I mentioned that my results appeared more swollen than my pre-op photos, I was simply looking for reassurance or insight on healing progress. However, her response -- "Well, I have pictures too, and it looks the same" -- came off extremely rude and dismissive. I was shocked by her tone and overall demeanor. For the remainder of the appointment, she continued to be snippy and condescending, making me feel as though my concerns were invalid or that I was wasting her time. As a patient who paid over $4,000 for this very personal procedure, I expected at least a baseline level of empathy and professionalism. I left feeling uncomfortable and belittled, which is not how any patient should feel, especially in such a vulnerable context. While I would never return or recommend Dr. Mahony for procedures after this experience, I want to highlight that her PAs and support staff were incredible. They're the reason I felt safe leading up to and after surgery. If I could go back in time, I would have chosen a different doctor. read more

Seriously great experience. I went to Dr Mahony to consult about my aging eyes at 54 yrs old. Dr Mahony explained what I needed was a subtle lift to the eyelids and when I heard that it was an easy in office procedure, it was a no brainer. Day of, I was of course a bit anxious but was completely calmed by the staff and structure of a small and intimate office ---totally hand held into a perfect calm and a really wonderful experience. Great bedside manner in the procedure and between the Dr and her amazing PA. Don't tell my dentist but was way easier than a filling ! For real. This is the worst practice I have ever been to. They kept calling and emailing me for business and when I finally booked a procedure, they insisted on a 20 percent payment. Then they said there was a pre op appointment a week before the scheduled surgery. When I called to confirm they said that I needed to pay in full at the pre-op appointment or they wouldn't honor the scheduled date. I said I was going to pay the day of surgery, but that wasn't good enough. Seems all they care about is the money and the patient is secondary. Nasty and intimidating and totally unreasonable. When I asked for the doctor to call me, I was told that "she won't do that," and they refused to refund my deposit. Nasty, nasty, money grubbing practice. I wouldn't have anything done there. It has been over one year since my surgery and I am so saddened because I still cannot feel the tender touch of my husband's hand as he strokes my cheek -and don't know if I ever will. And to add insult to injury, my double chin remains! I knew from the outset that there was a possibility of sensation loss, and I am not criticizing anyone because it happened. I am criticizing the treatment which I received that left me with this result. 1. DR. MAHONY'S POOR ATTITUDE: During my initial consultation with Dr. Mahony, she made me feel comfortable and impressed me with her confidence that she could certainly get me the results I desired. She had all of the time in the world to respond to my questions and assuage my concerns. However, during both of my follow up visits, Dr. Mahony was an entirely different person. She was brusque and borderline rude when she said, "Do you think I can perform miracles?". Always rushed, Dr. Mahoney couldn't wait to push me off on Stephanie (her lovely and capable assistant) as quickly as possible. Additionally, when I asked questions about massaging the scar areas, she curtly remarked that I should have been doing it already and I was told to do so. Truth be told, I was not given these instructions. I mean really... after spending $20,000 on a procedure, do you honestly think I would not do everything possible to give myself the best possible results???!!! 2. DR. MAHONY'S QUESTIONABLE FEES: Dr. Mahony explained that Norwalk Hospital was her location of choice, so, of course, I agreed, although it would cost a bit more. My fee was pre-paid based upon a projected number of hours in the operating room. Considering the time on the clock when I was taken into surgery and the time on the clock when she called my husband to say that I was done and all went well (she was clearly in the car at the time), it was obvious that she did not use all of the time for which I paid. Again, adding insult to injury, Norwalk Hospital said that not only did Dr. Mahony go under time, but she actually logged additional time and I was to be upcharged accordingly. Unless the physical world of time ceases to exist in the Norwalk Hospital, Dr. Mahony was not being honest. This sort of unsavory practice makes my blood boil. 3. DR. MAHONY'S LACK OF ASSISTANCE: I was so incapacitated immediately after the surgery that was unable to speak for myself. Accordingly, my husband and the attending nurses decided that it would be best if I were admitted. Somehow, this was listed on my record as "not a medical necessity" and therefore, the $1200 charge was not covered by my insurance. When I contacted Dr. Mahony's office about this, I was told that it was not Dr. Mahony's responsibility and that I needed to deal with the hospital directly. Moreover, when I mentioned that I was working with Minnie at Norwalk Hospital, I was told, "Oh yeah, she can be really difficult." If billing at Norwalk Hospital is a known problem, why does Dr. Mahoney insist on using this facility and why does her office not have someone willing to assist her patients? I was left to fend for myself and ultimately forced to pay the excess monies. Bottom line: Would I recommend Dr. Mahony? No. Nope. and Never. read more

I've had multiple surgeries over the years, and this was the first where I remembered someone holding my hand as I fell asleep. Come to find out it was Dr. Mahony herself. I went into the OR that day feeling nothing but peace, and experienced a comfortable recovery. She really took her time to answer my questions, and to explain what I should expect post-op. I will not hesitate to return to Dr. Mahony's office and care in the future, should there be a need. You would be hard-pressed to find a better plastic surgeon than Dr. Mahony! read more
