What a delightful find on Main Street in Warrenton! We were detouring through the area after a morning of apple picking and the photos on Yelp reminded me of sandwiches my mom would make growing up, so Ellie's was our lunch choice. There was plenty of side-street parking around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. If I had more time, I'd have loved to walk up and down Main Street, browsing the boutiques and shops, but we only had time for lunch. Ellie's was not at all crowded - only 2 other tables seated when we arrived. It is definitely a unique set up. Upon entrance, you are greeted by the ice cream counter, which may prompt you to save some room for dessert! Behind this, there were 2 levels of small seating areas just in front of the small, open kitchen. We were greeted by a server immediately and sat just adjacent to the kitchen, which was enjoyable for our daughter. She loved watching the cook do his thing! She was having a rough time that afternoon, so he (I'm assuming an owner) came and sat next to us to take our order and joked around with her. She perked up and was excited that he could make a much-desired grilled ham and cheese. I ordered the Veggie Pita and hubby got the BBQ burger. He was so kind and continued to chat with us while he cooked. The warmth and friendliness make it easy to see why locals may enjoy a stop into Ellie's. When our orders arrived, the portions were HUGE! If I had more stomach space, I could have devoured every bit of my pita and all of the fries! I just love hand-cut fries with coarse salt and these were delicious. The pita was really good with super fresh veggies (some of the best tomatoes I've had!) and tasty hummus and avocado spread. Hubby and daughter devoured theirs as well. The ham was thick cut, breakfast-style ham and the burger was cooked well. It's definitely a hometown joint with friendly service. The staff all pitched in to help each other out - one of the young ladies serving went into the kitchen to hand-wash dishes during a lull. We left with full bellies and happy hearts!

Nice little joint for breakfast in Old Town Warrenton! Stopped in for breakfast on a weekday morning. Ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee. While I was waiting - as I looked around - I noted the inside is rather oddly configured - in that the farther one goes back in the building - it's like one is going down a series of steps. I asked the staff what was in this space prior to Elle's moving in - apparently it was some sort of antiques/furniture store. Burrito came out nice and hot. I asked for some hot sauce - I was presented with a bottle of Cholula hot sauce - better than Tabasco - but I'd prefer some spicier options heat-level wise! The Burrito was tasty and filling! I'll definitely be back to try out some of the other breakfast options! Paid with Apple Pay. #ElliesPlace

We had an amazing experience today at lunch!! Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. I have a gluten allergy and they were extremely accommodating! Both of our meals were extremely fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back!!

Ellie's mom was great (and this is coming from the mother of another Ellie). She was friendly, and her service (and this goes for all the employee's, including Ellie's dad) was very good. Two BLTs and one Cuban- delicious bacon and lots of good tomatoes. Sandwiches looked huge when they came out and each of us thought we may need to bring half home BUT the tasty, crunchy bread was surprising light. French fries are cut fresh every morning and you can tell. They deserve the Faquier County award they have received. Yum! And, the coleslaw was so good I got the secret ingredient from Ellie's mom (it is Ellie's mom's mom). You can eat inside and outside, table service in both. There were two tables "on the street", but we passed them up for the one closer to the door, a buffer from the Harley's driving by. Save room for a scoop of ice cream and a coffee. Coffee's fresh and Ellie's has LOTs of varieties of Hersheys.

A 4.5-star Yelp rating directed me to Ellie's Place in historic Warrenton. With an ice cream shop that sells Hershey's ice cream in the front, there's a restaurant in the back that sells sandwiches, burgers, and salads. The moment I walked in, the woman in the front greeted me with a kind of friendliness only found in small town America. Once seated, the chef came over to my table and insisted he makes my burger exactly the way I like it- well done. Upon learning it was my first time in, several loyal customers guided me through the menu. The entire experience felt like I was welcomed into a family dinner. I ordered the BBQ burger, which comes with jalapenos, cheese, and bacon on top of a bun. Somehow the chef kept the patty juicy while also cooking it well done. It was tasty as were the well-salted fries it comes with. If you want a truly local, friendly spot in Warrenton with good food, come to Ellie's Place.

Such a cute gem of a place with yummy food! We stopped in on a road trip and loved driving through the historic town. On a Saturday, it was fairly easy to find street parking. When you enter the cafe, there is an ice cream counter and you can walk further in to a small dining area. The staff is very friendly and we're always attentive to our needs. Our order even came out fairly quickly considering it was freshly made. (They weren't busy during 2:00 time period) My husband ordered the French dip. It came with fries and he said it was really good. I ordered the left coast and really enjoyed the toasted bread, avocado, red pepper aioli, and tons of fresh Turkey. It came with fries and I added Cole slaw too. The fries were good and reminded me of boardwalk fries. Our waitress gave me vinegar when I asked. The Cole slaw wasn't too wet and was good too. I will definitely return here if I'm in the area and would order some Hershey ice cream next time too.

Stopped in for breakfast before our weekend grocery shopping. It's a cute little place with seating inside and outside. We came in right when they opened so it was a little slow especially with just one waitress. More help arrived and once the initial rush was under control, the service was much better. We later found out that it was their first day open after being closed for a couple of days due to water issues. We had the breakfast platter and eggs and toast. The food was pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. Overall not a bad little place. Wouldn't mind going back to try some of their ice cream.

My second love (after pizza) is sandwiches & fries, but the food at Ellie's is in no way a second choice. I'd put a ring on it in a heartbeat. And though we didn't try the milkshakes, I'm sure they're bringing all the boys to the yard. Small but with plenty of room for our family of 5, the cute decor was fun without being distracting. The service was excellent - friendly, fast, and familiar. Sandwiches and burgers are the menu items, all accompanied by hand cut fries. The portions were large and all the usual accoutrements like ketchup were at our fingertips. There were salads on the menu, too, but we don't like vegetables. The open kitchen is a nice touch so the patrons can see their food is being prepared in a clean manner. The French Dip was delicious, with tender, flavorful beef. Unlike many gristly French Dips I've had elsewhere, this beef was mostly lean with just enough fat to make it juicy. The Federal was the best sandwich I've eaten in months, and that's high praise since I eat sandwiches every day. The meat is clearly high quality and fresh. And who doesn't love hand cut fries? These, however, were exceptional. Big Daddy almost always salts his fries, but he said the salt on these were adequate. Oddly, I always think fries are over salted in restaurants, but I too thought the salt to potato ratio was perfect. If we ever find ourselves in this cute little town again, we'll definitely stop at Ellie's again!

Ellie's parents are very nice people who are willing to go an extra mile to make your visit more enjoyable. I visited the place after a cold weather hike. Needed warm nourishment and I got it, with plenty of kindness. Food is excellent, just right amount of spices. It comes in amazing bread loaf that can be eaten by itself. I left satisfied and in better mood then I was when I arrived. The owners transformed me from a tired hiker to a gregarious visitor. I will make sure to visit it again at my next hike in Shenandoah Mountains.

I'd say their location is a bit tough since it's in the back corner of a shopping center away from the street, so it's not getting a view as you drive by. We hadn't seen many (any?) Mediterranean restaurants in the area and wanted to give it a go. We went very classic: I had the chicken shawarma and my wife had the gyro. Both came with fries and some pickled veggie on the side. We dined in and orders came out quickly. Flatbread was pretty well filled with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and onion, plus some kind of sauce. Same for the gyro except it had 3 long, flat pieces of gyro meat. Fries were fresh, hot, and crisp. The garlic sauce on the side was quite good... Not something I'd usually go for, but I used it and my wife used all of hers plus what I had left. The location was quiet, prices weren't bad. There's not an extensive menu, so I'd be interested in trying some more of the Mediterranean options. I saw they also have burgers, steak & cheese, etc., but that didn't appeal to me. I wouldn't say it's a go-out-of-the-way place, but considering I haven't seen anything comparable, I'd go back if I was craving some Mediterranean food.

Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. You might like it a little more than me. Its still a fairly good meal.
