Online shopping experience wasn't great, encountered several glitches, and then even more when trying to get my item. Brian was the associate up front who engaged me first, as I paced in the store wondering why my order hadn't processed but the order I did after had and was waiting for me to pick up at another Ace location. Brian pulled my information up, was honest about how far he could help me in the process, and then brought over the manager Tom when he hit a barrier. Tom was the same way, a very cool customer who gathered the info he needed and after doing what he could, did the inevitable calling of corporate to see what the hang-up was. Couldn't process or cancel the transaction, it was in that magical no place, and having worked in retail I get it. Tom took my number and text me later that afternoon once the system pulled my order down. I could not return before closing, but Tom had already told me the hours for the next day - a holiday - and where to retrieve it. The next morning, I'm there 10 minutes after opening and there's Brian, smiles at me and says, "the mower!" He radios Tom, then tells me where to drive my truck around to pick up my item. Tom and Brian addressed my needs and were honest and direct with their questions and responses. The store itself is very nicely laid out, very clean. The lighting was good - it looked like a well ran and cared for store, and I felt that way as a customer. 4 stars because there were all kinds of glitches with ordering through the ACE.com website and the app, need to address some integration issues because their platforms aren't communicating or something, really agitates a customer before they walk into a store and take it out on the frontline staff. read more

I keep applying in vain for their discount rewards card and three times it hasn't gone through. The very same cashier even remembers me applying and taking the completed application but just shrugs and says "it takes 8 to 10 weeks to go through." Lol what!? How is this place in business yet? Basically I had another ace hardware owner call ahead to this ACE and have these goofballs set aside a Schlage rekey kit for pickup in their doors locks section When I show up, it was like playing frogger in the parking lot with the retirees driving around. When you walk in, nobody asks if you need anything. There is a skeleton decoration sitting on a riding mower to your left and a lady just sitting there handing out sample cups of BBQ sauce on my right? Like, thanks for the grab and go refresher cup of bbq? Then I asked two people where the kit might be after seeing it was removed from the shelf, so obviously someone had grabbed it. I finally asked the guy at the service desk about the rekey kit and he couldn't find it, and this boomer bob actually got butthurt with me because I should have gotten someone's name when the other ace hardware manager called? How about you guys do your job instead? Maybe have some communication with your coworkers whe you set something aside for a customer? The kicker was the sour attitude from the cashier at the front. Mark H. helped me with a Weber Grill issue directing me to the Weber website where Weber replaced a faulty regulator for free. When trying to replace the faulty regulator, I found the connector was frozen. I called Mark, asked him if he could help. He came to my house his next working day and was able, after some difficulty, to remove the faulty regulator and replace it with the new regulator free from Weber! This store is amazing. I brought in a power washer I bought at another store. They worked with me for 45 minutes to fix it. They never charged me a thing. In contrast, Menard's where I actually bought the power washer, wouldn't even work with me, would not consider a return, and the closest service was an hour away. Everyone in Pewaukee should go to Elliott's. The store manager is one of the best. read more

The customer service from this store and the complete lack of follow-through by ACE indicates that it could be a more helpful place. I placed an order for delivery from the store nearest my house because it offered free delivery. When the order was delivered, it was dropped off with the top of the box open/cut off and exposed (not something I can wrap and give as a gift). How many people could have caught this? The experience got even more strange, especially when I entered the store. I emailed presumably the store's namesake, Mr. Elliot, but he never replied: Hi Mr. Elliott, It would help if you were aware of how your employees handled this. When I walked in with the box to return, the two women at the front asked me, "Do they know you're returning it like that?" From the start, Elliott Ace Hardware staff and management blamed me for this. The manager, who eventually accepted the return and handled the situation, never even apologized for what happened. The delivery driver accompanied was present for this return as well. Until he spoke up and said, "I wondered if that would be a problem," she was cold, suspicious, and thought I had scalped the box. I've come to accept that customer service is a lost and dead art, but I certainly don't appreciate being made to feel as if I did something wrong. There was no apology or sincerity whatsoever in how Elliott Ace Hardware staff handled this. I remain angry about how I was treated by the staff from start to finish here, and You should know how your team dealt with this. Let me also clarify that I'm not writing to you to get a discount or refund. Owners and management should know how their staff treats people and use situations like mine as a training opportunity, in my opinion. I paid for the product I received. Unfortunately, the manager and front-end staff made me feel I had done something wrong, and I inconvenienced them by returning a delivery that should have never gone out. Not as big as their location in Brookfield... but love Elliott's Ace Hardware Stores! Been to a few other Ace hardware stores and Elliott's is the best one in the area. As mentioned in another Ace review, I miss the true hardware stores as they are usually staples in most towns but have been driven out by big box stores with better buying power. What sets Elliot's apart from other Ace or the big box? Well they are not a small store but this location is smaller than the Brookfield location. They are at least twice the size of most average Ace stores. So finding what you need you will most likely find it here. Service is very good but not as good as Tomchek Ace in Waukesha.... sorry Elliot's. Price is of course can be more for certain products but I have found most items to be not that much more or comparable. Perhaps because they are near Menards in Pewaukee off of Capitol. Ample parking. I love that they carry products that Big Boxes don't such as Traeger supplies and wood pellets and recently found out they carry most anything you need for pinewood derby for your son! In the end it is worth it for consumers to visit hardware stores such as Elliot's to keep them in the area especially when they are so big and provides wonderful customer service. read more

I purchased a Toro riding mower online through Ace.com for pickup at the Ace Hardware store in Pewaukee on Capital Drive. The process of making the online purchase was difficult and required a phone call to customer service in order to complete the transaction. Eventually my order was placed and I paid by using Paypal. I received an email notification with an order number stating that I would be notified when the mower would be available for pickup. I also received an email notification that my credit card had been charged for the purchase. Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from the store. I was expecting to be told that my purchase was ready for pickup. Instead the female employee who called me at 4:40pm on 5/2/25 told me that they were not going to be able to process my online order and that I either needed to come into the store to make the purchase in person, or they would cancel the order. No other explanation was given other than this was an issue they had with Ace.com. Now mind you, my credit card had already been charged the $4300 and the item was listed as available only as an "online" purchase, but she was telling me I had to come to the store to make the purchase that I had already made. When I explained to her that I had spent 20 minutes trying to make the initial purchase and I had a confirmation number she stated she would only be able to complete the transaction by placing the order with the store that day. I explained to her that I was at work over 40 miles away and would not be possible for me to get to the store that night. She offered to take my credit card information over the phone. I had used Paypal to make the purchase and didn't have the credit card with me. She then told me that she would not "hold" the lawn mower (that I had already paid for) because it was the last one in stock and that if a "customer" came in to purchase it she would sell it to them. I said wait, so I am not a customer??? I then asked her for her name and she just repeated that she was going to cancel my order. I asked her 2 more times for her name and she ultimately said "I'm cancelling your order" and hung up on me, without providing her name. I received an email notification almost immediately stating that my order had been cancelled. I called the Ace customer service line and they told me there wasn't much they could do because this was a franchise and they didn't have any control over their "policies". The man on the phone suggested I try to make the purchase through a different Ace store. I am very confused about this type of "customer service" I do not know what the disconnect between an online purchase and the store is. All I know is I paid for a lawn mower and my order was cancelled because this employee felt I wasn't customer enough to try and assist me in getting what I had paid for. If I was the owner of this store, I would be ashamed and embarrassed to have somebody represent me in this manner. The selection in the store and layout is fine, but here's an idea of what employees you may get stuck interacting with at Ace: Old men who are rude and make you feel stupid for asking for assistance. Old crotchety ladies with no personality that take 10 minutes to ring up your items. A punk teenager who rolls their eyes at you when you want to make a return. Also, the cashiers always find a reason not to honor the coupons we get in the mail. Why send them out then?! read more

Elliotts Ace Hardware is a hometown hardware store with many options. The best part about this location is the staff. Everyone working there knows the products that they carry and can always provide helpful assistance. This beats the big box store such as Menards, and is a great go to when you need hardware and household items. read more

I purchased a Yeti that I thought was on sale. I called to question but was told it was a different style Yeti that was on sale. Still not satisfied with the answer I returned to the store later to confirm. I entered the store and walked directly to the display and as I looked at the shelf I still felt that it was on sale but all the while willing to admit if I was wrong. I was willing to admit if I was wrong before I left the house! Low and behold the "associate" (I'm being nice here) that I talked to on the phone was near the register of the other associate I was currently talking to. She proceeded to tell me "I was the one you talked to on the phone". I asked to go look at the display again with me as I thought I was in the right BUT said, "I could be wrong though" and her response was......."YOU PROBABLY ARE"!!!!! After walking to the display and at the end of the conversation her clarifying the sale pertained only to specific colors, I left. Now I was very nice nice for this whole interaction but this could been handled ENTIRELY differently had the "associate" (being nice again) just used words like, "well lets go take a look", "this sale only pertains to the colors specified" or the such! It's weird how far politeness and a smile could get you in the customer service industry!! I get that I missed the part about the colors but there is ZERO need to be an a$$hole about it. If you hate your job, find a new one! If people irritate you, don't work in a customer service industry! I am a truck driver and deal with stupid and rude people on a daily basis but I do it with a smile. Pewaukee Ace Hardware is now off of my list of places to shop!! Well done kid! read more

I have been here three times. Each time I have been asked if I would like assistance (sometimes by 2-3 people). They were friendly and not annoying about it. I think the store is kept orderly, though the aisles feel a bit tight. I like that there is plenty of parking and that it can be a fast trip compared to other stores. read more

Bought my second snowblower from them, a two stage Eco. He loaded it in their truck and followed me home! Always superior service from them.

The staff is amazing. Had to get some plexiglass cut. Dick helped me. He is the nicest gentleman in the store... knowledgeable and helpful. He did not charge us anything and offered advise on how to complete the project. If you are there on July 4th, wish Dick a happy birthday!! read more

I love this hardware store. I grew up shopping at the Elliott's in Elm Grove and I'm thrilled to be living near another Elliott's Ace. Prices are very competitive as well if you follow their sales. You won't get quality and service like this at Menards. read more

In comparison to other Ace locations, this one is lacking in the "can I help you find something" customer service. That is usually why I choose Ace over larger department stores, because I'm not sure what I'm looking for. This location has never been terrible, but for sure noticeable. Would have given it 2.5 to 3 stars, but today (11/17/14 around noon) two gentlemen stood doing nothing in the paint department and watched 4 customers waiting for one young woman to check them all out. These men were chit chatting and just standing there. I felt bad for the woman who was nice. Management needs to get people to help out when they've got nothing to do and register lines are full. Even in the big wig jobs these days you've got to be a man/woman of more than one hat. read more

I went into the store and everyone had a nice greeting until I went to the back to the service desk and the older gentleman seemed like I was bothering him when I pushed the service buzzer. I asked for a key fob and he said they didn't sell them. I showed him where they were on the wall and he said they probably didn't have the one I needed. I told him which one I needed and he said no. I showed him mine and the one on the wall which was exactly the same. He wondered how I knew if it was the right one and I told him I bought that one from their store last year so I know that its the right one. I Had to go to true value to have a key made. your store on Capitol Dr. did not make it right. The key that Jim Mosey made would not open the lock. when I went back he would not make it over. He said the key machine would not make the key right. and gave me my money back. I went to true value in Hartland and had the key made that one work great. Jim Mosey did a poor job and was not willing to make it right I had to go to True Value. Next time I will go there first. read more
