When I moved from Daly City to San Ramon and in the middle of really painful ankle issues, I could no longer trek from E. Bay to Peninsula. I was referred to my 2nd podiatrist who was dismissive and very nonchalant with my care. Enter Dr. Hiatt. I consulted him to see if my lingering ankle pain required surgery. Our meeting with him was very thorough with his exam; he welcomed & thoroughly answered any and all questions we had; and he has a kind and friendly demeanor and bedside manner. Ultimately i necessitated surgery. At surgery time he visited me beforehand to check in with me, then right before going in to surgery he took more time with me to calm me down. Post-surgery he took time to explain his discoveries to my husband and he was the first face I saw upon waking up from anesthesia. Always kind, always warm and caring. Thus far I've felt in good hands with Dr. Hiatt. I still miss my 1st DPM (Dr. Dobbs) but I'm very confident and at ease and happy with my new east bay DPM: Dr. Hiatt. If you need a podiatrist in the east bay, go to Dr. Hiatt. It's rare finding a doctor who genuinely cares, intelligent, and has great bedside manner and takes his time with patients, but Dr. Hiatt has is one of those rare finds. My 16yr old football player son has been playing with an ingrown toenail for a few weeks…read more The toe became infected and after seeing his primary doctor we were told the nail would have to be partially removed. We couldn't get in to the recommended podiatrist until tomorrow, but I had heard Dr. Rizzo's name and saw his sign when driving home. The front office staff was so helpful. She got in touch with Dr. Rizzo and scheduled an appointment for us about 2 hours after I called. My son was apprehensive, especially when his friends told him it would be very painful and a needle was involved. Dr. Rizzo was great. He has an upbeat, friendly bedside manner. He was very professional and worked magic because my son didn't complain about the shot, and never felt the nail removed. The toe was medicated, taped and my son went off to watch practice, planning to actually practice tomorrow. I watched the entire procedure, and it was very efficient. The nail bed was clean and the remaining tissue looked healthy before it was wrapped up. My son is not having any difficulty with it tonight. Our wait in the office was about 10 min. The entire appointment took 1/2 hour! Another young athlete was leaving as we arrived and when I talked to Dr. Rizzo he said he specialized with athletes and foot and ankle problems. It felt as though I was walking on marbles. Dr McMillan-Gordon did a digital scan of my feet and had customized orthotics made to accommodate the sore joints, which are working wonderfully. Simply don't bother asking about your referral nor take their word that they'll call you once they receive your referral. Because that call will never happen if they don't take your insurance. One benefit of this practice is all the car magazines in the waiting room and exam rooms. Often I would be reading one and then carefully escort it out of the office to finish at home. The very last time I was there, I asked him if I could take the one I was reading. He thought about it, then said well, it was OK if I returned it THE NEXT DAY! What? I'm gonna drive an extra 90 miles to read his magazine? There's a pile of about 50 various magazines on the table in the waiting room. Do they carefully inventory all the People, Time and Sports Illustrated magazines, or just the car stuff? Seriously, Schwartz, were you kidding? You could have used my five hundred bucks and bought about 100 damn magazines. Sorry, I will calm down now. In less than 30 minutes, Dr. V listened to me, examined my foot, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He carefully cut out some deep and very hard callouses (caused by a lot of hiking in fairly rough terrain), with the immediate result that I could walk without pain or a limp for the first time in weeks. Just as importantly, he gave me a lot of practical advice about various things I can do to prevent a recurrence. And he assured me that, if there is a recurrence, I can readily schedule another appointment with him to fix it again. I only wish all medical problems were this fixable, and all medical practitioners were this competent. Hooray for Dr. V!!! I enthusiastically recommend him for treatment of your foot problems.

Usually my dad sees Dr. Huey at the Berkeley office but I was trying to get an appointment squeezed…read morein, and they had one at this facility today! So lucky! My dad is 82 and needs his toenails clipped regularly. He missed his last appt so today his nails were super long. Dr. Huey is incredibly patient and gentle and isn't (visibly) grossed out by my dad's feet and fungus issues. The staff here are also very friendly. I love Dr. Huey's shoe collection. It's much bigger here than the Berkeley office. He says patients just keep giving him shoes. There's some beautiful glass ones, enamel, a recent one from Thailand. And he's not a shoe snob either, there's plastic wind up shoes in the collection too.
