Rosemary is a BEAST!!!! My daughter had a pointe shoe fitting a couple weeks ago and Rosemary worked really hard to find a pair of shoes that would work for my kiddo (her feet have a huge size difference). Well after the first time my daughter danced in her new shoes her left foot was bleeding and in a great deal of pain, so I made another appointment to get her a shoe which would work for her left foot. About a minute (no seriously...it was just a minute) after I made the appointment Rosemary herself called to talk to me about the problem. She assured me that she would figure something out and she did. She spent so much time with my daughter getting the exact right fit and really listening to my daughter every step of the way. I'm sorry to be carrying on so but I just am so grateful to Rosemary. If you need any ballet/dance supplies I think Ellman's Dance is worth the drive, all the staff I've worked with are great. My latest 2023 hobby has been ballet classes at TAOU studio. One of my classmates told me about Ellman's Dance Boutique and their amazing 50% off all Bloch brand ballet slippers. I decided to visit ASAP. They have an online store too. I came to the store because I wasn't sure what to look for and I wanted to try on the slippers. Luca assisted me and was incredible. I told him exactly what I was looking for. He measured my feet and told me to always judge shoes while standing up. He grabbed a few different sizes for me so I could get a feel for what I liked. I appreciated how he explained that there were different widths based on letter. He was amazing. He held onto my slippers behind the counter so I could browse the store after. He kindly pointed out the different sections of the store too. When I was done exploring, the lady at the cash register was super kind. She helped me sign up for their rewards program. I'm so grateful I stopped by. I highly recommend coming here for all your dancewear needs, especially if you're looking for a great spring sale. read more

Taking a moment to leave a 5 stars for this Richmond dance boutique because we had such a fantastic experience. They had exceptional service (accommodating us for a pointe shoe fitting), were attentive to my daughters' needs( it was a little like being at Olivanders' wand shop)! Ms. Rosemary meticulously had her try on a variety of shoes to ensure the best fit, while educating us on the anatomy of the pointe shoe as well as what to look/feel for in the right shoe. They were warm, kind, and friendly. The shop itself was well stocked, neat and organized and we found several trendy and cute leotards while there! We are new to the area and this was our first time getting my daughter fitted for pointe shoes here in Virginia. We are so lucky we picked this place to try first. My daughter who has been on pointe for three years just had the best fitting experience with Rosemary and Shelby. Her previous experiences at various other shops were rushed and now that I have seen Rosemary work her magic I now know the other fittings were done by people far less knowledgeable. There was a great variety of shoes available and the staff did not give up looking for the right shoe for my daughter's challenging tapered toes. We will be long term customers from now on. My daughter and I were visiting from Florida and made an appointment to do a pointe shoe fitting to make sure she was in the right pointe shoe. Our appointment was at 4 and we were greeted and the lady worked with my daughter for an hour. Turns out she has been wearing the wrong size pointe shoe all along. The new location is beautiful and spacious! I came in to grab some tights in the color for my little sister. Who knew there were 5 different tans. It was for her recital & I wasn't sure which one she needed. The woman there was so patient even though they were closing. A lot of the dance companies register here so usually they know exactly what you need... unfortunately ours didn't. Nonetheless the woman helped me make an educated guess with her expertise. I've been to Ellman's since I was 8 (I'm 25 now) and I'm so happy they've got this great location! read more

Horrible customer service, they will not honor a discount. There shoes are over priced. They tend to spend more time with the privileged customer and their ballerina children. Will never visit that store again. read more

I've always gotten amazing customer service from Ellman's. I've gone here for YEARS since I was a kid and they've always helped out and answered any questions I had on the shoes I tried. I have always suggested Ellman's to anyone that has asked me about my shoes (I ALWAYS get compliments on them). I have not found a selection anywhere else in Richmond that has a good selection of shoes than Ellman's does. read more

On Tuesday I asked for help finding a dance belt. A nice woman helped me, gave me the belt in what was to be my size and I paid for it and went on my way. I get home, the belt does not even fit past my thighs. I go back today to return the belt that does not fit, and I am told I cannot return it due to what type of clothing it is. This is not printed on the receipt I was given. The woman at the desk points to some sign that explains this detail. The sign, by the way, was covered by other accessories to buy at the counter. I was not told about the detail at the time of purchase. I thought it would've been nice to help a local business, but I just got screwed over. read more

When I went to the store, I had absolute superb service from Caraline; so much so that I spent way more than I had originally planned. I bought a silver pair of ballroom dance shoes that I loved. The reason I give this place two stars is that when I got home, I realized that the shoes had several rhinestones missing from the buckle of both shoes. I called the store and told the person who answered the line that the shoes were missing rhinestones in the buckle and her response was, 'ok' in a sarcastic sort of way. No apology, nothing. Almost as if she were trying to say 'ok so what do you want me to do about it.' She didn't even say, 'well no problem, why don't you bring them back in and we can switch them out for a new pair or place an order for you. I had to ask if I could bring them back and she said as long as the shoes are in the box and you have the receipt. That telephone conversation ruined the whole experience I had with this place ; I've experienced MUCH better customer service when having to return a pair of ballroom dance shoes because of a defect so I will be returning these shoes and do not plan on purchasing from here again. read more
