Of course you can buy all your pumpkins & gourds, they have so many varieties, as well as your fall flowers. It's a great way to spend the afternoon with the family or friends.

We came here on a crisp fall afternoon expecting to have a good time. Sadly, it started to rain…read morepart-way through and that derailed our plans. First and foremost, they are a garden center and sell plants and other such things. They also sell pumpkins in various sizes, and some by weight, and we purchased a couple to carve up ("You didn't tell me you were going to kill it!") They also had lots of activities for the kids. There were at least a half-dozen wooden picture boards with holes cut out for kids to put their heads through and parents to take pictures. I remember Peanuts, Bluey, Spiderman and Friends, Monsters, etc. They also had a maze of sorts constructed of hay bales (they were only stacked 2-3 high so parents could keep in eye contact. They had a train ride that circled the area. They had a larger corn maze geared more for parents. They had a really long darkened indoor display of at least 100 artificial pumpkins carved into various faces and scenes and lit with Christmas lights. That was cool. And they had a large model train exhibit detailed with lots of fun toys and buildings for kids. That's the good part. The bad part is that because of the rain the outdoor train wasn't running (thankfully, they refunded our tickets which are only good on the day purchased). The rain also made exploring the outdoor activities wet and a bit tiresome. We had to skip some completely. Inside, the train layout consisting of about a half-dozen loops of G scale track and various scenes (adventure, pirates, castles, Star Wars, Harry Potter, amusement park, etc.) were nice to look at but only one engine was running despite at least four loops of track. Why weren't the other trains running? They had food for sale including baked goods and hot items like hot dogs and coffee. My cookie was extremely dry as if they had baked it a week before. But, it wasn't terribly expensive so that was nice. Some of the things I listed above are free, and some have an extra cost attached. So, plan accordingly. Did we have a good time? Um, sort of. But we made the best of it despite the bad weather. On a nice day, it would have been a ton of fun so we will have to return in the future.

I asked one the kids working there, "I know we're not in Zone 10, but what Zone are we in?" He looked at me blankly as if I had asked him to solve a quadratic equation...Fortunately, another customer had overheard our conversation and said, "We're in Zone 5, those will be dead by October." We did get a few things, and after putting them in, realized we needed more, I told my wife, "We're going to Kulak's tomorrow." I had a question about mulching perennials as well as keeping weeding to a minimum, (we're creating a perennial garden out of an area where bushes grew for years) and were directed to Allison. She's a wealth of information, a little bit into our conversation, another customer stopped to listen. Allison asked, "Can I help you?", the customer said, "No, this is really interesting, please continue." She's also really funny and personable as well as informative. Everything they offer is quality. Again, you will pay for quality, but you will not be sorry to go there, IMHO...

The beautiful display of plants outside is just the start of how well the store displays are set and how clean it is. I found myself wanting to buy another set of clippers just because "they were calling my name". I don't need them of course but I wanted to buy everything. I now have some gift ideas as well. So many chimes, bird feeders and pet toys to choose from. They have a huge selection of bird food including a bin of mixed food that you can scoop to buy by the pound. There is always friendly staff around to ask questions and they seem to know just when to ask if you need help. They even invited to be browse as long as I want. They didn't know just what they were saying because I might never leave. I kept it brief this time but I will be going back again and again.

It's a chain, but it's definitely not as "big boxy" as - well, you know who. Some of the things I like about this store include it selection of plants, bulbs and seeds (and there's more in their small garden center), the tools, the bulk bins for animal and bird foods, a good supply of tools, and some seasonal items. I've rarely had any problems here, and the staff have always been able to answer any questions I've had. Their barn/warehouse on the side has quite the supply of various bagged materials too.
