They had a kitchen fire a few years ago, shut down for a year, and completely rebuilt the store/café. It's beautiful, and you can get great baked goods including their famous cider donuts and a variety of coffee/beverages at the counter and sit comfortably in the cafe. They greatly reduced the kitchen space and don't make full meals in house. The cidery/brewery downstairs is still a great place to hang out but you'll only be able to get a few mostly app type food items. The main place to eat is now up the hill where Defazios runs a pizza counter. There's also a beautiful catering space overlooking the Helderbergs where we held a 40th anniversary party. Defazios provides full catering there, from their wonderful main restaurant menu. Indian Ladder provides beverage service, offering theirs and other NYS beer, wine and cider.

The trees are low enough not to require ladders so they're kid friendly (and for those of us who are fun-sized). The orchard offered a beautiful view of the hills in the background covered in fall trees when I went in early October. There was also a little pumpkin patch that was perfect for pictures! Many people visit Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard but you don't get the same experience since you don't get to pick the apples right off the trees. However, we did visit Fly Creek (which is a fun experience too!) the next day and I thought that the apple cider doughnuts from here were much better - they were softer and denser! I also compared it to some doughnuts that my cousin bought from another orchard in PA and Middlefield's still comes up on top! I definitely recommend here for your traditional fall apple-picking/apple cider doughnut-eating/pumpkin-picking experience! There weren't much people when we went so there were many opportunities for uninterrupted photos as well!

It was nice to bring my 2 year old and let him run around the farm. The produce was great quality, and organic from what I've read. Sadly, we wasted more than we ate. You pick a lot at one time, and must eat it quick or it goes bad, and being a full time working family, we found it hard to find time to prepare everything. I won't be signing up again next year, It's not the farms fault, but my own. I would like to visit once in awhile next year, and just buy what I need at the moment.

We discovered them recently on our drive to dinner at the Cock 'n' Bull restaurant. The farm planted their blueberry bushes in 2013 and had their first harvest in 2018. We learned this while talking to the friendly wife of the owning family. They are set back in from Galway Rd, just east of the Galway traffic light. Look for the sign on their truly classic, white (fire?)truck at the edge of their driveway. They have a small retail stand from which you can arrange to pick your own blueberries or purchase pints and quarts of berries freshly picked that morning. They also sell pies from Smith's Orchard, cookies and doughnuts from someplace that I didn't get the name of, girl scout cookies, jewelry, maple syrup, and certainly several other items that I didn't take note of. Besides being a really nice place to stop by, the blueberries are delicious! Large, ripe, flavorful berries, no comparison to the ones coming from New Jersey or from far-off countries and currently available in any supermarket. Their pickers also do an excellent job of removing the stems from each berry. While I can't speak for the picking experience, they expect to be open through August. You may want to go and pick your own.

For a flat rate of $45, they will provide you with a saw and you can choose to cut down any tree on the lot. They have Fraser, Balsam, Norway, Blue, Concolor, and Canaan. Oh, my! Once you chop down your prize, you can drag it back to base Griswold style or Bailey's friendly staff will throw it on a cart and drive it back for you. Back at camp they will shake it and wrap it, then you are on your way. After years of lame store bought threes the week before Christmas, it was time to enter the wild and start a new family tradition. Bailey's is worth the trip from anywhere in the Capital Region and Southern Vermont.
