Greeted with a home town welcome and promptly seated. Country cafe decor was inviting and gives that hometown feel. My wife and I ate here as we were passing through. I ordered the 10oz steak breakfast with two eggs a side of red potatoes and two pancakes. Eggs were cooked perfectly to order. The steak was a healthy cut of meat for a filling breakfast. I ordered medium rare but probably would have ordered rare or warm rare if I visited again just to have a more tender bite. The red potatoes were excellent, I could have eaten a whole plate of them! The pancakes were flavorful making them a cut above your everyday pancakes. I had to force myself not to eat the last couple bites because I was stuffed. We found Elm Street Eatery on Yelp! while traveling through Lebanon on I-44. It is less than a mile to the west of the interstate and worth the stop. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, extra crispy bacon, hash browns and coffee. The eggs were perfectly cooked as ordered with no runny whites and very runny yolks. The hash browns were shredded potatoes that were light, nicely browned without being stuck in a clump and the bacon was fall apart crisp, just like I ordered. I ordered French toast on white bread because I prefer it when the batter soaks through the bread and some places that use Texas toast do not let the batter soak through it. Their French toast was perfect. Plenty of batter was used to assure the entire piece of bread was saturated and it was thoroughly grilled to a brown exterior and warm creamy interior. The coffee was fresh and not bitter. Finally, the service was excellent and friendly. We will stop there again on our way through. read more

Even for diner breakfast food the flavor was pretty bland. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive though. Had a small town diner feel to that seemed established. The place is a little dirty though. Someone needs to wipe down the ceilings above the tables, there is a lot of dust build up. read more

What I expect food wise for a small town diner. I had the same feels as when I walk into any breakfast style dinner that also serves lunch and dinner. They serve breakfast all day, we came during dinner, so I was tempted, but went with a burger and wrap. Our meal did what it needed to do. The veggies were fresh, the onion rings and fries were perfectly crispy and hot. What I was most impressed with was the service. Our server was so kind and friendly, and it felt genuine, that's rare these days in my experience. They only had two servers the night we were in, a fairly full restaurant, service was still fast and there was barely a wait on food. From the time we came in the doors you are like family. Everyone is very friendly. The waitress took our order after about 5 min. of us sitting down. Our food was brought out about 10 minutes later and it was hot. It was a very filling and delicious breakfast. There was plenty for us to have a second meal from our leftovers. The food wasn't nearly as good as it was the first time around. The rings were burnt on one side, and they had the burnt side down on the plate as if you wouldn't take one bite and realize something wasn't right. They redid them for me which was nice but I'm left wondering how you burn only one side of a friend onion ring. read more

Stopped here while traveling thanks to Yelp. They have many breakfast specials until 9am. I had two eggs, two slices of bacon and red potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection. As a short order cook 40 years ago I can be a bit judgemential about eggs or bacon. These were perfect. I also had unsweetened iced tea. I declined the toast or pancake that came with it. 2 months or so ago, me, my husband and sister went in to eat. We were expecting my nephew to join us. The last we talked to him he was over an hour away. The said restaurant has a policy that all parties must be present to be seated. We decided not to wait. My nephew arrived much earlier than we thought and joined us. Well first let me add I am a Disabled Veteran. When I sat down on the table I noticed a cockroach on the floor and I killed it. I asked to Speak to the manager and supposedly the owner came out. When I pointed out about the cockroach, He said if you don't liked it you are welcome to leave. Where are the manners or even the customer service and respect. To add Mr. Randy, said "what you want me to do". Very sad that we as customers and even a Combat Veteran get treated this way.
