Amazing!! We walked in and was greeted immediately! The vibe was top notch! The staff was very welcoming and made sure that we were good! The food though!! My taste buds are so happy! The St. Robert/Fort Leonardwood area has some pretty awesome restaurants. I wish I had a little more time to explore. This place came highly recommended by the locals. The day I visited, the proprietor was in. I was greeted warmly and since it was my first time in, I was given an explanation of the concept and their menu. This same service was provided by the counter worker and the food runners. You place your order at the front counter. The space has a divey feel and a little dark inside. They offer high and low top seating. I took a seat and waited for my meal. Now I realize that this place specializes in fried chicken. It's in the name and everything. But I was in the mood for fried catfish so that's what I got. If they have a handle on the chicken half as good as they do on the fish just be ready for a good meal. The fish is crispy and flaky. I got a bowl of greens and mashed potatoes for my sides. The greens were excellent. Good flavor and I just drizzled a little hot sauce on top. The mashed potatoes are equally delicious but the gravy is fire. Another patron sat down next to me and was kind enough to allow me to photograph his meal. Leonard wood saw this place driving back to the BNB and we decided to try it out and we are so glad that we did. Prices are so low! I had chicken and waffles with a side of Cole slaw. That was only 8.99. I normally pay $15 or more for less food. The chicken was delicious and you get two nice, hot waffles. You have a choice between tenders or bone in chicken with the waffles. My husband had both fried chicken and a bowl. He is super picky about fried chicken and gave it full approval. I will have a bowl next time because it was fantastic. And the biscuit is crazy good. They play music videos - great eclectic mix. Kind of a dive bar feel, but in the best way. Mashed potatoes and gravy were also the best. Atmosphere 3* restaurant was kind of a dive. Little hole in the wall. For being a dive I'd give it a 4*. Cleanliness 3* average. Again for a diner and dive I'd give it a 4*. Service 4*. The people working there were really nice. When you come in you order at the bar and then take a seat. Food was prompt but yet fresh. Asked me to be ready at 6:22 showed up at 6:25 and waited and asked where my food was a few times. She ran around and I'm not even sure she looked for my food. She checked the food warmer in the corner at 7:00 and found it finally and tried to play it off as if someone just put it in there. Got to the vehicle and found that we were still missing about half our order and brought it back in. Manager asked if I wanted a refund or my food back which seems pretty crazy to me because I never asked for options. We ordered our food at 6 and waited till 7:15 out in the parking lot before they finally got it right.
