I feel bad writing a bad review however everyone needs to be aware of the charges before you have them do any work. I was charged $183 to rekey 3 doors in the home. It would have been cheaper to replace the locksets. So call ahead and price it out hopefully you won't get taken to the cleaners like I did. read more

Bought a car remote. The key that comes with it is blank. Asked if I can bring it in to be cut to the original remote and key. They said no. Must buy their remote and they'll cut the key. Ridiculous !!! $ 80 for remote and $ 37 to cut the key. Bought 2 remotes $ 77 and they cut the keys each at $ 5. Never again will do business with this place, ripoffs !!!! Walk in to get a couple of keys made. Seems pretty quick and simple, right? Nope. Stood around for about 3 minutes. Maybe they didn't know someone came in? With the loud door alarm and the fact that someone looked right at me, probably not the case they didn't see me. I would've left but driving to Home Depot was much out of the way. I walk to the office on the side and asked if anyone worked there. Man with a cane walked back and got a guy named Dave to help me. You can't forget Dave, glasses and a pony tail. Dave wasn't very friendly. No hello or how can I help you. Got my 2 keys cut for $5.45 and left. Not even a thank you. For something as simple as getting 2 keys cut, they failed at it. I would really hate to call on them for a complex job. Can't imagine how bad they would butcher that. Maybe drop the safe down the stairs or get you locked out of your house when everything was working fine previously. read more

Great locksmiths! I buy all my safes from them whether for personal items or guns. They deliver promptly and the guys are always so nice and friendly. I have had house keys cut by them too and they always work fine. If you need keys cut for your cars, go to a dealer since they cannot cut the newer car keys because of the electronics involved with them and the dealer needs to order them from the factory. Timely. Professional. Problem Solvers. Cost effective. But above all, excellent customer service. When there were issues with my lock, the professional (Chris) who served me went beyond the call of duty to solve the problem. The lock, which I had purchased online and not from Elmer & Sons, malfunctioned and caused my front door to jamb. Chris helped my wife and I get the door open and even came back another time to ensure the replacement lock was installed properly and without further complications. Even though this meant putting in a little extra time to get the job done--some of it possibly off-the-clock--he did not rest until our lock was functioning properly and we were satisfied. Later on that same day, my wife had challenges figuring out how to get the lock to function due to its security features. Being the professional he is, Chris swung by our home once again to demonstrate the security features of the lock and make sure she was in the know. As a small business owner, it is my opinion that the best companies to do business with are the ones that not only do good work but they know how to handle the inevitable bumps in the road that come up when dealing with customers. In this regard, great companies: (1) employ skilled professionals who are "bothered" when a job they work on does not meet their own or the customers expectations; (2) receive feedback from the customer about problems and respond professionally and not defensively; (3) set out to do whatever it takes to make things right within reason and occasionally even at their own expense (Napoleon Hill's Principle of Going the Extra Mile); (4) do what they say they're going to do; and (5) don't expect a pat on the back for doing what they said they were going to do. Elmer and Sons, and especially Chris, followed this formula to the letter. While I don't wish for any other lock issues anytime soon, undoubtedly, Elmer & Sons is who I'll call when the need arises. I called at 10 am to have all the locks in my new home replaced since we had fired the contractor that day and were leaving the same night on a trip.
