We spoke to her assistant who took all the information for our particular issue. The assistant stated they would check for any conflicts of interest and get back to us. This was in October 2022. After not receiving a callback, we contacted them again. Again we spoke to Susan Lowry's assistant who took more information and said she would call to set up a consultation. We called several times over November and December. They never returned our calls or set up a consultation. This was a particularly difficult time, involving an unexpected job loss. If Upton & Hatfield was not interested in providing help, a simple return call saying "we're sorry we cannot offer a consultation" would have been a polite and professional response. Very frustrating given this firm came highly recommended. I spoke to several of my professional contacts letting them know that this firm doesn't seem to care about providing services to individuals. Perhaps just corporate customers and municipalities, but not the little guys.

I was sent an email from THEIR LAW OFFICE email (I had received emails from them in the past with sensitive information). Today they emailed me a link they said I needed to open but it contained Trojan:Script/Wacatac.H!ml MALWARE. The link was from their office's email, and they replied to my response email 2 minutes after I told them I had trouble accessing the file they sent. They had told me to redownload it and continue to try to open it (I was speaking to the scammer through their email). I tried calling their office three times but only got their voicemail. I left a voicemail at 9am. I called them again at 3pm and they FINALLY picked up. The receptionist TOLD ME it was a SCAM EMAIL, and THEY WERE HACKED in a very carefree voice then she told me not to open the email. I told her I opened it already and immediately she sent me to speak with my past lawyer I had on my case. He of course didn't pick up again, so I left another voicemail. A law firm should have better antivirus software and not be letting their previous client's information get hacked. Once they knew they got hacked they should have reached out to ALL of their clients to inform them of the hack. I'm VERY unimpressed and displeased with this. Do NOT hire this law office unless you want your information stolen and sold. I do NOT recommend this office to anyone.

I became…read morea little concerned when they made a mistake on their engagement letter and decided to stick with them since I needed assistance and finding a lawyer who could assist in real estate law in New Hampshire has been challenging. I received a draft within approximately two weeks which matched the expectations set during the initial meeting. After week three and requesting a status update, the letter was sent to the neighbor, and my issue was quickly resolved by the neighbor. A new issue was identified with a different neighbor, however after reaching out to the attorney for assistance, this was missed without resolution. I then cancelled the request for assistance and closed my account. Around the time of the second issue, I was asking for assistance with a living trust and a different attorney was recommended. I made an appointment to meet the new attorney and hear what services he was able to provide. When I called the billing department about receiving the balance of my retainer, billing informed me that she wanted to hold on to the retainer for future possible business. I decided to cancel my appointment with the individual who might have been able to assist me with a living trust to receive the balance of my retainer and help their billing team understand that holding on to my retainer balance was not going to be an option for them. My perception is when options are limited quality can be sacrificed due to limitations of options.
