I went to Elmo's years ago and had a great experience. Now, years later, my tire-air-light was on, and I thought I had a problem with my tires, so I went back to Elmo's to get help. My minivan suddenly got a fast leak in a tire. I refilled it with air and it was totally flat in a few hours. I found elmos On Yelp and passed 3 other places on my way. Absolutely worth it. I showed up 10 minutes before closing and they were filled with customers but did not turn me away. I had a slow leak in my right rear tire. I came out of Menards and the tire was almost flat. I had to go back in and buy a small pump that plugs into a cigarette lighter to pump enough air into the tire to allow me to drive my car to Elmo's without damaging the tire or rim. If you ever need a tire repair go to Elmo's Tire Shop. This isn't the first time I have used Elmo's for tire repairs. They are quick and inexpensive. FYI Elmo's has a storefront @ 3822 W. Montrose Avenue, but the tire repairs are in the back off the alley. I pulled my car into the alley and backed it in the space outside the garage. Someone came out immediately jacked the car up took the tire off. He inspected the tire and found a nail in it. He then took it in the back pulled out the nail and patched my tire all within 10 minutes. I drove out with my tire patched for $15. No muss, no fuss, quick, easy and inexpensive. Today I noticed that I had lost air in one of my tires...I searched on google tire shop near me and I seen Elmo's Tire Shop just a few blocks away from my house. I decided to take a ride and get my tire checked out....good thing I did! After being greeted as soon as I pulled up a worker came out by the name of Jose Gutierrez he had me turn my steering wheel a couple of times ( the tire in question was my front passenger tire) he walked away came back I felt a tug or two and he came to my drivers side window and said "all done"! I couldn't believe it was so fast first of all but secondly he said it was just a screw stuck in the tire and he used some kind of tire plug. The reason I'm leaving this review is that I wasn't lied to and told I need a new tire or something crazy like I've heard from other establishments that Ive gone to in the past for the exact same thing. I was very pleased with the way I was treated from the moment I pulled up until the moment I left....if you ever have a tire issue give Elmo's Tire Shop a try before going anywhere else!!! This place is a hidden gem! I got a pierce of glass wedges in my tire yesterday and punctured a hole in it. I came down to Elmo's and it was fixed in less than a half hour. Whenever I have any tire issues, this is my place to go to.. The service is fast and professional. The men working in the shop are very courteous and kind. On one rainy day close to closing time, I called them in to see if I could bring in my car that had a tire that if left overnight - would surely be a flat in the morning...Even though it was 10 minutes until closing time, they kindly waited for me to arrive and repaired it. Jose was amazing. He fixed my boyfriends tire and was really inexpensive. The other places were trying to rip us off saying it was my boyfriends rim. Jose took the tire off my boyfriends car and found the leak (that was missed by two other tire shops) in less then 30 seconds. We thought we needed a new tire but instead he fixed it for us in less then 5 minutes. St. Elmo's Tire: I highly recommend this place. It looks small and shady but the work is good and really cheap and really quick. They will fix your tire in the alley behind the shop, there isn't really a waiting area, so it might not be to fun to have work done in the dead of winter. These guys know what they are doing. You can get a flat tire(s) fixed here in aprox. 15 minutes. They work very fast here and very hard. They sell new and used tires and rims. This no-frills shop has been around for some time. I have been a customer here for aprox. 15 yrs. They keep their prices as low as they can, there are a few competitors of theirs in the area. Nothing is more frustrating than having a flat tire and having to carve out time in a busy schedule to have it changed. Nothing is more relieving than finding a shop that can hook you up quickly without leaving a hole in your wallet to match the one in your tire. I came to Elmo's Tire Shop with a sad little donut on my car after having the original tire get a flat (side note: getting stranded on the side of I-94 during rush hour is not a great way to start your work week). The guys at Elmos quickly snagged my flat tire, did a little investigating to see where the problem was, and let me know that my tire was no good and couldn't be repaired. To my delight, they had a used tire in stock, matching the tred on my other three tires and they charged me an unbelievably reasonable price for it. The guys at Elmo's quickly put my "new" tire on the car and helped load the spare in my trunk. Bonus? I think the whole process took less than 10 minutes. Amazing! You really can't beat better service. I would be happy to take my car back to these guys as well as recommend them to friends. read more

I absolutely love Elmo's Tire Shop. I have been going to Elmo's to get tires repaired since the early 90s and the prices are always the best around. When they are a little busy I walk next door to the little Mexican restaurant and grab a bite to eat and come back in 30 minutes and my car has always been done. i have bought new and used rim's from here on several occasions. Unfortunately they don't have and tires that fit my Porsche but they have had some tires for my truck and they saved me a lot over the years. The shop has changed owners many times over the years and I still remember the original Elmo he was a small skinny man from West Virgina from what I remember with a southern accent and he gave the business to his son's when the moved and then the son sold it to a Spanish gentleman who has kept the prices and the service almost the same over the years. This is not the cleanest place your going to walk into but your find no better service any where else or prices for that matter. keep up the great work Elmo's. Also one of the few places that will still plug your car tire and charge you less then $10 bucks for the repair. read more

I used to live down the street from this place and used them whenever I needed a tire repaired or replaced. They've been around for a couple of decades now, and I have never received less than stellar service at a bargain price. It's clear from the other reviews that this is a place you can trust. I would thus like to mention a couple of useful tips that others have not yet brought to attention. I live a few miles from their location now. One of my old tires blew up to the point I would have needed to ride on the wheel frame. For an additional $35 plus the replacement tire price of $30, they were willing to come to where my car was parked to replace the tire. Availability of this service will depend on whether they can spare anyone from the back lot, but you can always try to make next day arrangements early or late in the day. These guys also do quality brake repair: I had the brake pads replaced on my front tires and it was a chore for them because the pins had rusted into place. Total charge with parts was slightly under $100, if I recall correctly (bring cash!). They can do it while you wait, but you may need to go when it's quieter because their working space is limited and the alley can get backed up with folks waiting for the much-quicker tire repairs. read more

This place is cash only, but there's a shop across the street with an ATM. Just FYI. I had a great experience here. Drove right up and had service in less than 5 minutes. I had a flat because I hit a pot hole (damn Chicago) and the rim was bent. They bent it back, filled up my tires, and sent me on my way in less than 15 minutes. All for $10. Nice. read more

I've been having slow leak issues with both front tires on my truck. Today one tire would not inflate fully while i was at work. I looked up tire shops near my job & called Elmo's. Jose Gutierrez repaired both of my tires & took me inside to show me where the air was escaping. He checked & filled all my tires & he was very nice and professional. They were busy and i waited behind 2 other cars, but i didn't mind. They were thorough with each vehicle. My cost for both tires was super duper reasonable & i tipped him for his excellent service.
