I ordered a custom cake for a 21st birthday, which totaled $252 (with tax and tip). I sent an inspiration photo ahead of time and while I didn't expect it to be identical, the final cake looked much more homemade than professional -- especially for the price. We also weren't notified directly that the bakery had moved locations, and instead of acknowledging the inconvenience, the owner suggested that simply updating their website should have been enough. On top of that, the cake was packaged in a regular cardboard box rather than a proper tiered cake box, which caused it to tip over during transport -- something that could have been prevented with professional packaging. The taste itself was okay -- dense, not bad -- but still nowhere near worth $252. And looking at the photos of her other cakes online, the quality of what I received is nowhere close to what she advertises. When I did finally get a response, the only resolution offered was to refund the tip, without addressing the actual quality or service issues. For the price paid, I expected professional quality and service, and unfortunately that was not delivered. They have disabled reviews on Google, I wonder why. read more

Eloise Market and Cakery has interactive baking classes. This is probably one of my favorite things to do in Baton Rouge! I attended a Mardi Gras King Cake class last night, and it was so fun. These classes are right in her bakery, which is adorable. She has tables set out and everything you need, so you really just need to show up. Before we got started, Mady told us a little bit about her and what we could expect throughout the class. Then, we started! At each table, there were rolling pins, flour, cinnamon, and dough to start. Mady is a great teacher, slowly showing us what to do with the king cakes and stopping to help us. She also gave us the option to do the king cake braid, which I didn't do, but I liked how there were different options you could do based on skill level. After we shaped our king cakes, they had to go in the oven for a few minutes. During this time, we played bingo, and Mady had tons of different prizes. This is was a lot of fun and made the time fly by. When the king cakes came out of the oven, she passed out our king cakes to us, and we began to frost and decorate. Then, we were ready to take our king cakes home. The class wasn't too big, so I was able to ask questions and get help if needed. I also loved that we took a whole king cake from this bakery home with us! Will definitely be coming back. read more

I really don't think I could be anymore obsessed with this place: I had my daughter's birthday here and the woman who owns it is super sweet, helpful, and so easy to get along with.The kids got to decorate a cake and they had so much fun doing it. Well we met the owner's lovely family (including Eloise) at a Mardi Gras parade and her dad told us about the bakery so we had to try it while we were in Baton Rouge on business. They happened to have a slice of funfetti cake left for sale and let me tell you that I may never stop dreaming of that piece of cake. It was so good I want to cry just remembering it. My first visit was for a thanksgiving Cake decorating class last year that was so much fun. I went with one other friend & we enjoyed the full experience. Maddy was a great teacher and we felt like professionals with her guidance. I was invited back a few months later to a king cake decorating class with a small group of friends and the cakes were EXTREMELY delicious and really funny to make. While they baked we played bingo for prizes. I returned with yelp just before Mother's Day for a cupcake decorating class to celebrate the holiday. This experience was different from my previous and still so much fun. Each class tested your skills, taught you new ones, but with Maddy's instruction you will leave with an amazing finished product. My experience was just...ok‍? ordered a cake for my boyfriend's birthday and specifically wanted footballs and his school's colors on it. When I went to go pick it up it had soccer balls and no school colors anywhere. After discussing with the employee, she was phenomenal. She went above and beyond to fix the cake for me. In Baton Rouge with my daughter for an LSU campus visit. After a long tour and burning calories we stopped at Rice & Roux for a snack. Afterwards we needed a well earned snack and luckily EMC was next door. We grabbed a cupcake each but we were told the Beruvian cupcake was the cashiers favorite. I loveee this company. Me and my sister attended a king cake class here earlier this year and we had sooo much fun!! The owner was so sweet and genuine and helpful, she explained how she started up her businesses and it was such a heartwarming and inspiring story. Everything at Eloise Market is truly out of this world. I can honestly say that this is the only place in town where I crave their confections. The cakes never miss, the cookies and brownies/blondies always are amazing and pull from nostalgic treats. I even had a king cake this past season--and it was the best one I have ever had. The service was fun and great and the king cake as well as cookies were very tasty. The ambience was simple and the bakery was very clean.

If I could rate this place a zero, I would. Picture on the left is what we thought we would get, picture on the right is what we got. The flowers look like they could have been done by someone at Walmart, the gold paint was dripped all over the cake and done very poorly, no where in the picture we gave to them is there any green, and the child's name was not put on the cake like we ordered. We were called the day of picking up the cake and asked if we could come 2 hours later than originally told to get it, when we arrived a party for an employee was going on, leading us to believe they forgot about our order and threw this together last minute. We paid over $100 for a cake that could have been made better at Walmart and cost way less. It's sad this bakery is proud to give this to a costumer. read more

Very unprofessional! I was told my cake would be made in time for a birthday party ( August 20th) and it was not! We discussed the date and time in text, but the cake was still not done. Closer to the time of pickup myself and my cousin called multiple times and no one answered. When my cousin arrived to pick up the cake, the ladies at the counter had no idea where my cake was. They called the lady who placed the order and she said it was "an honest mistake" and that she made the order for the following weekend. I am pissed! How could you even confuse the dates when they are literally in the text!? They gave us two really small cakes (might has well been freaking cupcakes) with a janky print out picture on them as compensation. Oh wow, that made it so much better, NOT!
