The hostess was warm and welcoming and seated us promptly. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, which made for a relaxed experience. They also had a singer performing that day. We ordered different dishes. I had a crawfish hash with potatoes, eggs, and sauce, while he ordered the Chantilly waffle, which was topped with strawberries and blueberries, along with a side of candied bacon. He really enjoyed his meal. I enjoyed mine as well, though I think the potatoes would have been even better if I had ordered my eggs sunny-side up to create more sauce throughout the dish. That's more of a personal preference, as I usually prefer my eggs over hard. Overall, the experience was enjoyable . Our waiter wasn't particularly friendly, though she may have been very busy that day. I did have a few interactions with the bartender, who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their wine selection. What a great nicer dinner place in Baton Rouge. The aesthic is on point and the food is delicious, what more could you ask for! We came on a Saturday night during Homecoming in Baton Rouge. We had no idea it was Homecoming, so when we walked into the resturant, the only available tables were outside. We were looking forward to looking at all the fun artwork and colors inside, but outside was the only option for seating. I was shocked at how nice the outside was. There were string lights and nice patio decor, so it actually wasn't bad that we sat outside . It was also perfect weather this night, which helped too. We got drinks to start, wine and French 75, and both tasted normal/what we expected. For entrees, I got the salmon and my friend got the steak frites. This is some of the best salmon in town! It was cooked just the way I like and on top of this delicious mushroom risotto. The salmon was so moist but yet crispy. The risotto was full of flavor. It was also of food on the plate! My friend loved her dish, but I was for the salmon all the way! When we went to the bathroom, we were able to see the fun/funky decor. Visited Juban's while on a trip to Baton Rouge. I have to say overall great experience. The decor inside is well thought out and very beautiful. Our server was very nice, and while it took a minute to get our food I have to say it was overall worth the wait. The Crab Lollipops were out of this world. Went during the Christmas holiday party season in 2024. With the mirrors and twinkly lighting it's got a great holiday vibe. From the service to the food everything was hit or miss. The hostess was a little short when I arrived and didn't have the name of the party correct. The waitress was personable when she was around but must have gone on break some time after we ordered our main meal but before she served it to us. Most of the dishes were over salted and the spinach on one of the dishes was so over cooked I genuinely asked if it was mashed black beans. I lucked out and ordered the soft shell crab dish that is in all the pictures and it was worthy of the raves. Visited this restaurant last Sunday for a birthday celebration for 2 friends. When you walk in the building the decorations are beautiful, they get a 5/5 for that. On the weekends they have the jazz brunch, so there was a jazz band playing when I walked in. Having a band is nice, but it was too loud for us since they sat us right next to them. I think they should have a good bit of space between the band and those dining as we could barely hear each other talk. After putting in appetizer orders, our waitress came around with warm towels for us to wipe our hands on, which I thought was nice. We ordered the French toast sticks, the boudin dip, and the crawfish wontons. The French toast bites were my favorite as it came with 3 different dipping sauces. The boudin dip had a good flavor, but was too salty for me (others at the table enjoyed it). I think if they served it with unsalted saltine crackers, rather than the regular ones it would be more balanced. The crawfish wontons were okay. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, but asked if my eggs could be fried instead and they said yes. Another friend ordered the crab cake Benedict, 2 other friends ordered the shrimp and grits, 1 ordered a soup, and the other ordered the Hallelujah crab. While my crab cake was crispy and paired well with the eggs, it did not taste like a crab cake. It tasted like some sort of cake with a few pieces of crab. My other friend who had it pointed out how there were no green onions or Bell peppers or really any seasoning that you could see. Also, to say it was a Benedict it did not come with an English muffin. I'd say they need to add the English muffin or at least some potatoes as it wasn't very filling. My drink, the Jubans martini, was really good though. For the shrimp and grits the sauce is a barbecue butter sauce, so it's not the sauce you are used to for shrimp and grits. My friends love shrimp and grits, but neither were huge fans of the sauce as they said it had a stronger Worcestershire flavor. My friend with the hallelujah crab enjoyed it, but wasn't a fan of her drink the Sunday Punch. Overall with our food and drinks, our server took care of us well. I just think some adjustments can be made to make this place 5 stars. In the back by the bathroom they even have a cute Photo Booth where you can pay to take a picture, but it was broken when we tried to use it which was a bummer. Thankfully since the place is nicely decorated we were able to just take some other cute pics in the restaurant. It's cute for celebrations and birthdays for sure. For any parties over 6, they do have an automatic 20% gratuity. They even have private dining areas available for large groups. I'd go back to try the dinner menu to see if it is better. read more

Cheers to my second time coming to Juban's for the Jazz Brunch! This is definitely a hot spot for brunch on Sunday, so be sure to get a reservation. It's really a special atmosphere with the Second Line band and it has the feeling of being an elevated New Orleans cafe in the French quarter. This is why I brought my mom here for her birthday. So, the second experience was great, but the front desk was completely unorganized. We checked into our reservation, but we were seated much after several other parties arrived. We had to remind the hostess several times that we were waiting. Once we were seated, we our waitress was over to take our order. We ordeed the Second Line cocktail which was strawberry puree, tequila, & champagne. It was okay, I wouldn't necessarily order it again. For our appetizer, we tried the blue crab lollipops. It's basically a stuffed and fried blue crab claw with corn Maque! 10 out of 10! I could eat those all day! For our entrees, we ordered the Hallelujah Softshell crab, the BBQ shrimp & grits, and the Breakfast burger. The food was good overall, but the portions on the Shrimp and grits was really small! The Hallelujah was stuffed with so much seafood and I would recommend it! Other than the front lobby/hostess situation, the overall experience was great! Came here for my birthday and was not disappointed. We got the crawfish wontons as an appetizer and my only critique is I expected it to be a bit more spicy but they were delicious. I also got the cauliflower, crab, and Brie soup which was absolutely delectable. I will probably make it a point to grab a bowl for lunch now and again. I got the 8 oz filet which is served over mashed potatoes with added grilled shrimp. The only complaint I have is that I asked for my steak to be medium but I got well done. It was still tender and delicious and everything was seasoned to perfection. My fiancé got the ribeye surf and turf which has a lobster tail. The lobster melted in your mouth it was so good. They also brought out a bread pudding for my birthday with a sparkler which was so fun and the bread pudding was to die for. The restaurant is very romantic and dark. They had real candles. Last Thanksgiving I invited 6 friends to join me at Juban's for their Thanksgiving buffet. Our reservation was for 2:00. Nobody warned us, either on making the reservation or on checking in, that we would have a suboptimal experience, due to our being the last reservation of the day. At 2:00!! The buffet was anything but sumptuous- the turkey and other foods were picked over, with few pieces remaining. The dessert table was full of crumbs, and again, the offerings were sparse and shopworn . While we were still eating our main course, the cleanup of the buffet room began - food was actually being picked up before we were ready for dessert. I waited to write this review because I was too angry at the time, but now, a year later, I still remember how badly we were treated. We paid the same price as those who arrived earlier - we should not have been left to serve ourselves limited and dried out food. And, while we were trying to enjoy the desserts, the staff started cleaning up in our dining room. We had not lingered - but were made to feel we needed to leave. Several drink options, including all Prosecco selections and a red wine listed online, were unavailable, which was surprising so early on a Saturday evening. Service was extremely slow ....by 7 PM we still hadn't placed our dinner orders. When the food did arrive, it lacked seasoning and unfortunately did not meet the high standards we've come to expect from Juban's. In order to have champagne, we had to order a $88 bottle since other options were out. It's an older restaurant and the decor was somewhat dated but it could also be said that is part of it's appeal. While we were sat quickly, our waiter was not as attentive as he could have been and also was not knowledgeable about dishes that were served there. He kept having to go back to the kitchen to ask. At this type of establishment, I expected better service. We got the Boudin Dip, I got the Beet salad with Shrimp, my Mom got the Caesar salad with chicken and my Aunt got the Sensation Salad with two fried eggs. I assumed the Beet Salad would have been bigger but it was pretty small and the shrimp were somewhat overcooked.
