I've been coming to this bakery for 4+ years and it's so tasty! The macarons can't be beat, the flavors are divine. The workers are always so nice and patient while you pick out your sweets which I think is a major plus. They do real food and custom coffee as well but I've always stuck to the desserts. From all the positive reviews and recommendation from Baton Rouge CM Rebecca, I had to try one of their delicious king cakes. They definitely pride themselves on freshness and ship it the day they make it. I immediately called to inquire on shipping costs to California and prices for their king cakes. Stephanie took down my info and said an email will be sent, so I waited...and waited. When I didn't hear back from her, I just gave up, as Mardi Gras would be over by the time any cake arrived from Baton Rouge to CA. Manager Robin Bueche reached out and explained the extenuating reasons as to why my inquiry wasn't resolved promptly when I asked for the prices/shipping costs. She profusely apologized for not getting me the shipping info to CA as requested. She offered kindly to ship a king cake for free. Wow, that's awesome customer service, not only did she acknowledge and apologize, she acted on her words. I emailed her back and requested it to be shipped to my husband's job, where he received it a few days after Mardi Gras, and to his amazement, it was delightful. He didn't believe it was filled with delightfulness, as the ones in CA are plain and dull. I got the chance to check this lovely bakery out today. They offer so many different items from macaroons to specialty coffees. I got a praline macaroon and a pistachio macaroon. The praline macaroon was delicious it reminded me of the angel kiss cookies my maw maw use to make. I'm definitely going to go back for those for sure ! I like this little place. Don't let the outside throw you, it's a cute little space inside. Part checkerboard floor, park red walls, part glass counters showing off the colorful macaroons and other goodies. There were chocolate squares, and others covered on chocolate. There were several varieties of mini cupcakes, milk & white chocolate covered Oreos, cake balls, and cookies on display. Not to mention a LOT of custom made cakes heading out the door! Lovely cakes draped by n flowing gold drip icing! Don't know how they tasted, but they looked beautiful! I had a freshly made (one cup at a time, just like in Paris!) cup of coffee and it was very good. The hubby and I then ordered Strawberry Macaroons (I went back for seconds!), Pecan Cheesecake, and a mini Lemon Blossom cupcake. Enjoy them all. The cupcake was perfectly sweet, and the icing was both pretty and yum! Only issue: No real sugar!! Several types of substitute sweeteners out, but the young lady had to go find real sugar in the back, and place it in a bowl for us. This took a few minutes, and the. She only put literally 2 teaspoons in the bowl. We had to ask for more for the two of us. Hubby's issue: No real ceramic coffee cups. These would have been nice and fit in with the freshly made coffees they offer. All in all, loved the deserts and enjoyed the coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ah, desserts and specialty bakeries provide fancy or gourmet desserts more expensive than grocery stores. But when you get down to it, if the offerings of specialty bakeries do not taste better than what grocery stores have to offer then they probably should close---I am not talk price but solely quality of the food offering. Over the years I have usually chosen Les Amies as my go to specialty bakery and never been disappointed. Always worth the price and the people who received my gifts (whether it was me or otherwise) have never complained about the quality. Since the pandemic I have tried a few other specialty bakeries and Les Amie outshines it's competition in quality of offering and usually size of offering, which I did not know. Additionally, Les Amies offers coffee and I believe sandwiches but have not sampled any of this. My husband and I have almost been married a year, and we are still RAVING about this cake! It's the best cake we've ever had, and I'm not much of a cake fan usually. The bottom tier was a chai cake with an espresso swiss meringue buttercream. The middle tier was a lemon cake with a raspberry swiss meringue buttercream, and the top tier was a vanilla cake with a honey lavender swiss meringue. They were all DELICIOUS! The swiss meringue was so light yet so flavorful. All of the flavor combos complimented each other perfectly. We can't wait to pick up our top tier on our anniversary! We still get compliments about our cake almost a year later. I highly recommend getting a cake from Les Amis for any event, big or small! I tried to come here to get king cake but unfortunately u have to call ahead and they were closed tomorrow and the earliest I could get it was Monday maybe around 1-2 and I had to go out of town by 10 on Monday.
