Elvie's Inn is a Covina institution. From the outside it gives solid dive bar energy, but inside it's surprisingly clean and cool. You still have to do the long, narrow walk past the bar like you're entering a low-budget runway show, and there's a single pool table holding court in the back. I've been there when it's empty enough to hijack the TouchTunes from my phone, and I've been there when it's so packed you're basically making new friends whether you planned to or not. The crowd runs 23 to 73, but it leans Millennial/Gen X in the most comfortable way possible. Music is gloriously chaotic. Friday DJs spinning Zapp & Roger and funky dance vibes one minute, then System of a Down or The Smiths on another night. Emotional range. But the one constant is The drinks are always strong. Not craft cocktail precious. Strong. The bartenders are heavy-handed and the prices are shockingly reasonable, which means two or three drinks here will absolutely set the tone for your evening. Typical dive bar, but very clean, friendly patrons, and good drinks. Our first time visiting and had a good experience. It was a Sunday morning and there were only about 10 people in the bar, and most of us were watching football on one of the many TVs around the bar. Liz was bartending and made some fantastic Bloody Mary's, as well as an intoxicating "Big Stick" cocktail that took me back to the Caribbean. There's an e-cocktail menu board behind the bar that goes through pictures of their offerings. Drink prices are very reasonable. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring something in or have it delivered. Plenty of parking is available on street, or in a city lot, but there are several restaurants/bars and other businesses in the immediate area. read more

Love this bar!!!! Came with my friend's after a night out and was pleasantly surprised by the prices and vibe. I got a Paloma which was $5 and a tequila sunrise which was about $7. I also got some hot Cheetos that they had (thank god). They have one dart machine, a pool table which is always in use and the music is controlled by the customers which was cool. You have to pay for credits using your phone but it was so fun to feel like the DJ HAHAHA. Nice workers, decent service. Overall great place! read more

Been patronizing Elvie's since 2004. Live out town now so seldomly come in, but is always a first choice and so glad to head there. Came in last night after a family funeral, hoping to chat w the Mrs and enjoy some drinks. It's a Tuesday night. The music was so unnecessarily loud, like why? For what? Really liked this place. It was down to earth, mostly good music (juke box) and good drinks. I made a mistake and ordered wine (comes in small bottles) and it had crumbs or like the stuff at the bottom so that wasn't good. My bf got a rum and coke and it was good. This is a solid dive bar. It has a great divey bar, but is still clean. The bartended was friendly and she made a great Irish Coffee that hit the spot. We were doing some "research" to find a dive bar that was open on Christmas morning and were stoked they would be open at 9:00 a.m. Although we missed it, they did have an Ugly Christmas Sweater party earlier in December. I hope we remember to try and make it next year! Drinks were strong and reasonably priced, just like a dive bar should be. Came In here after having dinner next door for my boyfriend's birthday. I heard decent reviews about this bar so I was looking forward to checking it out for the first time. As soon as me and my fam walked it, it felt like all eyes were on us. We immediately got the dirtiest look from the bartender (older lady) and was stared down as we approached the bar. She asked us for ID's right away which is understandable. I guess we were on the "younger" side 27 years old and up from the average crowd inside but she was so dam rude I couldn't believe it. I used to be a bartender myself so I was really thrown off the way she was speaking to us. Didn't enjoy our first time there. Located in Shopper's lane we had walked by this place quite a few times. My wife and I met a couple of friends for drinks on a saturday evening and had a great time! We queued a couple of songs in their digital jukebox and played some pool before a DJ rolled in at 9PM and mjxed some bomb 90s and 2000s hits. He had us rapping to Digital Underground and Missy Elliot. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced which based on the clientele coming in and out means this is the perfect spot for a pre party before hitting the club. The pool table made for great socializing with new people. We had planned for a couple drinks and stayed until midnight we were having such a good time! I'd recommend this place to those looking for a chill spot to stock up or locals looking for a fun hangout. We will definitely be coming back. read more

I rolled into Elvie's Inn" on Tuesday, June 12th courtesy of fellow road dog Johnny Medina who turned me on to this place. I was a first timer here and I loved it. It's a small bar tucked away in a mixed use strip mall on Shoppers Lane. It's narrow and deep, pool table in the back, easy access with plenty of parking front and back, electronic jukebox too. As stated before it was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised on how large and lively the Tuesday night crowd was...( lots of beauties too). Bartender Sirena( aka: Lover") was a pleasure to meet. My friends dragged me here by my short hairs and the only thing that numbed the sting of THAT were the perfectly crafted cocktails! It's a typical dive bar; long and skinny with everyone packed in like Red Vines (still in the packaging). The bar area is typical and a single row of tables lines the wall. You can dodge the pool queues by practicing your limbo to get to the restroom, but for real fun, you need to practice at home; have your friends throw wrenches at you, because "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a pool queue!" During my visits, I've found the patrons and staff to be a very friendly group of people!
