I have no idea how the food is because my daughter and I were seated and then waited almost 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that we were there. Multiple wait staff walked right by us and nothing. When we did have a waitress approach us to take our drink order I told her yes we have been waiting well over ten minutes for service. She then got an attitude and ask if we even wanted to be there. To which I responded with No I don't believe we do as a matter of fact! As a person who was raised in a family run restaurant this is not how you conduct business! There is never a legitimate reason to be rude and disrespectful to your guests that pay your salary!!! We started with their award-winning Salt & Vinegar wings which were top notch. Definitely some of the better wings we've had anywhere! Would highly recommend. For mains, the blackened chicken sandwich was a nice little lunch item with a strong flavor profile. The pommes paillasson side were quite unique and very good. They're almost like a fry shaped tater tot, but maybe better than either. To top it all off, the drinks were also pretty dang good. My family and I frequent this restaurant spot! The food is usually pretty good and this again was the case for our last visit. We ordered a double serving of the salt and vinegar wings, camel, burger, normal style burger, fried pickles, mussels, prosciutto jam sandwich, and the chocolate torte dessert. The pickles weren't our favorite. They had a really unique flavor due to them being made in house that didn't feel like they were complimented by being fried the salt vinegar. Wings are probably my favorite appetizer to order, they are always prepared nice and crispy. The camel burger is not too strong. I would recommend trying. The jam sandwich is one of my favorites and is something I would recommend anyone trying the restaurant out for the first time. The chocolate torte with ice cream was also very good at the end. The restaurants ambience is lacking, but it does the job for what it is. The service is also very good with our waiter being very informative and helpful. overall would recommend trying this place out. read more

Our group of four came here for lunch. We ordered reubens and the honey walleye dish along with the spinach artichoke appetizer. The appetizer was the best dish. I definitely recommend that. My walleye lunch was okay, but not great. It seemed a little soggy and the rice that came with it was just plain cooked rice without any seasoning at all. We had a side order of the potato sticks and they were gross. Very, very oily and raw/gummy in the center. The red dipping sauce was delicious though. The reuben eaters said it was a fine/average sandwich. Overall, I'd give it another try, but it wasn't a standout. read more

What a clean, peaceful, relaxing place to stop in and enjoy some time with good company and palate teasing food. This restaurant is a treat because it supports local farms and breweries. The food is unique, fresh and delicious. I had the Poke bowl, my Mom had the Reuben with garden salad. Both were great options. I ordered extra tuna and less rice. That's the way to go!! It was a $6 up charge but totally worth it. The pickled veggies were mouthwatering, the wasabi aioli and soy ginger sauce added the perfect taste to tie it together. It seems the cucumber and sesame seeds got left out, but I didn't even notice until I was all done eating it. I would have given five starts if it wasn't for this minor detail. The Reuben sandwich was great. The mustard sour cream was a nice touch of flavor. Not soggy or messy at all with fresh toasted bread. The salad was lush and green with lots of color. I took my wife and her two sisters there for lunch. I found the place to be kind of girly but the atmosphere was very nice. The service was prompt, friendly and pretty quick. The two sisters split the fish and chips and my wife and I split the camel burger. It came out quickly, however the Sister got the honey crusted walleye instead of the fish & Chips. The good thing was they did split the fish lunch with two separate plates as well as splitting the Campbell burger with two separate plates. after about halfway through their fish they said where is the chips so we called the server over and asked where were the chips, we ordered fish and chips, she said sorry and right away put in an order for fish and chips to go since the girls had already finished their lunch. By the way, the girls did not like the honey crusted walleye and would never order it again. The camel burger was unique it tasted a bit like bison very lean, but good. I would probably order it again or try their wings. The girls did eventually eat their Fish and chips. Said it was delicious and they would get it again. This would be our second time at Ely's Ivy. Well sourced food, unique options for the area, nice atmosphere. Now the criticism part... For so much potential and positive things going for it. Service is very slow. ( Both times) Food is good but not great, drinks take a long time to get, and for everything being so nice as far as atmosphere goes it just seems to lack personality or cool vibe that makes you want to come back. All and all a good place that could easily be so much better with a few touches. Something to help set the mood. In short: -food and cocktails 5 stars. -speed and quality of service 1 star -ambiance? Tough to say because it's rarely busy the 3-4 times I've been here. What one could call ambiance is the inactivity and behavior of the staff (see below). I've been here a number of times and the food has always been outstanding- this time I had the roasted beets and teres major- absolutely zero complaints about the food. My Manhattan was also very well made. Fresh-tasting ingredients, great textural contrasts, well prepared. Why 2 stars? In short - 1 table in the place when I arrived and an appetizer as well as the entree took 20 minutes and hour respectively. The service staff is not bashful drinking on the job, complaining about having to come to work on time (and a plethora of many non-work-related gossip items), and did not have time to bus plates or fill water. I imagine this would've distracted from instagram. I suspect despite having amazing food, there is a reason they had one table at 6PM while the Toasted Frog is full. Great food, terrible service and uncomfortable ambiance. I might consider takeout but done dining in. read more

Had a late lunch at Ely's Ivy. Warm decor, farm to table dining. Street parking is available in downtown Grand Forks. A nice relaxing atmosphere. Shared an frog legs appetizer (surprisingly delicious!), and I had the carrot ginger puree soup. All their ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. Among the entrees we had the meatloaf special, smoked salmon with pasta and vegan scallops with risotto. They were all excellent! Service was a little slower than what we're used to (from NY) but it was a lazy afternoon in town. Definitely recommend dining here if you're in town. read more

This restaurant will have to be my favorite restaurant in Grand Forks. They have a variety of food and flavors on their menu and the atmosphere is probably the fanciest you'll find in town. Dress up a little bit and come here for a date night, you'll be glad you did. In grand forks, often, restaurants have your standard burgers, wraps, wings... This restaurant goes out of the ordinary and you can find unique items such as gator, camel, lamb, etc. I've been here only once and I will definitely be back. I've only eaten her twice, and my last visit was a little underwhelming. Although the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere felt inviting, the food wasn't up to par this time. First off, our appetizer of artichoke dip and garlic toast was the first downside. Although the dip was delicious, it was hard to enjoy with the garlic toast that was either rock hard from being stale or from being toasted the day before. Then, on to our main course. My wife and I got the same thing and had the same results. Bison loin steak with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans as the daily vegetable. We ordered it Medium Rare, and it was almost medium well, so the meat was pretty tough. The cognac mustard sauce helped save it enough for me to want to eat it. The green beans were a disappointment. You're supposed to snip the ends off before cooking them because otherwise, you get these sharp, prickly stem ends that poke your mouth and can't chew. Honestly, the garlic mashed potatoes were the only thing that wasn't screwed up. I will come back again to see if it gets better, but this visit was, as I said earlier, underwhelming. read more

Can i say this was amazing? it came with mushrooms and cooked to perfection for medium rare. i could actually eat this as my entree with a side salad in the future! My friend got the burger with their hashbrown fries? the fries were amazing! it's a mix of a tator tot and hashbrown. fried goodness let's just say. i got the shrimp plate and these shrimps were HUGE! I was surprised when it was only 3 but i get why now because they were so big. Definitely priced to the size of the shrimp. Also it comes with cauliflower puree versus just mashed potatoes which i prefer and you cant even tell the difference! I would come back in a heartbeat! read more

It's my favorite fancy eatery in town. I've been there several times and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent.

Nice staff, eggs w potatoes and corned beef was really good and the portion was amazing ... and great flavor for both well stewed corned beef and tasty red potatoes but I was disappointed with the tomato salad that had about 7 tiny pieces of mozzarella cheese, barely any food of tomato onion and greens. I thought I could eat this salad and be a little bit satiated but I was starvingp afterwards due to the sparse food. I liked the friendly neighbors who came to dine in and we talked about work and life together. That was the best part. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Ely's Ivy. We've heard so much about them and decided to try them out for date night. We started out with the frog legs to try something adventurous for our appetizer. The breading and sauce was incredible, but I wished the frog meat had more flavor. The best way I can describe it is chicken texture that tastes like fish. We got the hash and a sandwich for our meals at they were great. I appreciated that their menu has variety to cater to different tastes. The meal was delicious. We couldn't leave without dessert, of course, so we tried the s'mores cake per our server's recommendation. It was delicious and just the right portion to not feel too heavy after our meal. Appetizer - had frog legs and pickle egg rolls. Never had frog legs before, but it tasted really good, like chicken. Entree - got the NY strip. Asked for medium rare, but it was more on a well done side. They have a garlic aioli that was pretty good, so I dipped my steak in that to manage. Service - the server was nice, but we actually had a mistake on our bill, which caused problems with a guy that handled the bar (probably the manager?). On the menu, it stated premium sides are +$1 for sandwich entrees, but we were charged $3. When it was mentioned, the guy was persistent that there was no mistake, and gave us a huge issue. After a ten minute discussion, they finally agreed to take it off the bill. I think the service could've been a lot better in this instance. My party asked them to fix the dialogue on the menu so that it does not confuse their future customers. read more

Oh my goodness. The bacon wrapped prawns are so large! They tasted wonderful! I also ordered the mussels and duck wontons. All of the food items tasted wonderful! The meat of the mussels were big and tender, not over cooked or tiny. The duck wontons tasted incredible and flavorful. We want to like this place!!! We live downtown and love the ability to walk to fun cute places. This place is hit or miss, so we thought we would try it again and get the Pri Fixe Menu for our Valentines date. What could go wrong? The Atmosphere was very pleasant and decorated cute for Valentines Day. The music volume was low, so it was a bit dull in the room. The Host was dressed very nice, and most of the rest of the staff appeared to be wearing sweatpants and hoodies? They looked messy as if they had rolled out of bed to go to work. Our server was nice and apologetic. The drinks came quick but unfortunately, we waited quite a while for our food. The Soup and salad came first, and the Appetizers came out about 20 minutes after our Soup and Salad. No big deal just kind of a weird order of service. Our entrees came shortly after our appetizers which was great because we were hungry! My boyfriend's food was blistering hot (Courdon Blue) and mine was lukewarm at best (The Stuffed Crab Shrimp & risotto). The flavors were excellent, but a cold entree was not. I ate it anyway as I figured if I sent it back it would be another long wait. There did not appear to be a M.O.D. When the deserts came the presentation and taste were terrible. They truly looked as if they had been dropped on the floor and plopped back on the plate. Needless to say, we did not order coffee or after dinner drinks. We watched several tables around us that also had a bit of disdain on their faces. I am glad I had good company; my Valentine always make me laugh. I am writing this review with hope of this cute restaurant improving. It truly is a hidden gem with a beautiful outdoor patio in the summertime. The food is typically very good. I understand that staffing restaurants is a difficult task. I don't mind waiting for service but when a table of 4 is blatantly ignored for 20' without ANY form of acknowledgement by a server, I find that inexcusable! There were 2 servers that were more than willing to assist others but not our table. One server chatted with a table the whole 20' and the other server walked by twice with not even a "I'll be with you in a few minutes". The other server waited on 2 guys at the bar and chatted with them. If it's shift change, your exhausted or just having a bad day, I get it. But the "I don't give a damn attitude" is over the top. The walleye fish was cooked perfectly and very delicious. Love the unusual choices including an cajun alligator dish and a ground camel burger. Service was friendly but not very attentive. Had to request water refills, ask for plates in order to eat the hot appetizers already served, and ask for the waitress to clear away used appetizer plates. Would've been nice to have a candle or even a flower on the table for the price of the dinners. Restrooms were clean. Not very generous servings which could've been easy to include a larger portion of rice. Was not impressed with the fried appetizers. This week my work travels brought me to the doorstep of Grand Forks, ND. It's a particularly cold and windy day. When I arrived there was only one other table sat. But as the evening went on, the place began to fill up with other hungry patrons. I started with a Manhattan to warm me up internally. For an appetizer I started with the soup of the day, a delicious and creamy chicken and wild rice. For my main course I went with the honey almond crusted walleye, served along side wild rice and brown sugar glazed carrots. Drool!! The decor was nice and spacious...service was kind of slow for a slow lunch... my nephew got the BLT, I got the Burger and my mother got their corn beef with eggs and potatoes. My nephew like their BLT, my burger was bland and the burger itself has not flavor, it could use more cheese or some sort of sauce or something. Upon perusing into this whimsical establishment, I daresay I found the decor altogether- No, I'm not one of those yelpers. This place has very tasty food, its one of my favorite places in grand forks now. It's up there with toasted frog but you don't have to sell your children to afford it. The menu is creative and succinct, which I really like. The salt and vinegar wings might be the best wings I've ever had. Sometimes I get them as an appetizer and then am tempted to get them again as my meal. I always leave happy, and that's the most important thing. One time I got the duck (not liver, it was roasted or something) and it was kinda meh but everyone else's meals at the table were delicious, so you can't roll a natural 20 every time; life goes on. And I don't see it on the menu anymore so maybe they realized it wasn't as good as their other stuff. Service is always great. Today we sat on their snazzy patio and I got the rueben sandwich- house made, tender corned beef, flavorful af, and packed with creamy, melted cheese. I was fully satisfied after half the sandwich but I kept stuffing my cheese covered face, like a ravenous hyena, until there was nothing left, because it was so good. read more

As we were walking to the door I overheard a passerby say this place is "hella expensive" what year was that saying from. Let me tell you this place is very reasonable. I had the Jambalaya, homemade noodles and andouille sausage. My wife had the grilled jerked shrimp. These dishes where amazing. We were there with a group that ordered all the apps on the menu. Duck wontons blue me away, not a bad app in the bunch. John, our server, was outstanding. Water was always full and not an unmet need. The ambience, not a word I normally use but no other way to say it, was incredible. This building must have a storied past. I have no complaints or recommendations for this place.
