    Blackened Chicken Sandwich
    Sean P.

Ely's Ivy is a cozy little place in downtown Grand Forks with a very pleasing interior, well equipped bar, and welcoming service. We started with their award-winning Salt & Vinegar wings which were top notch. Definitely some of the better wings we've had anywhere! Would highly recommend. For mains, the blackened chicken sandwich was a nice little lunch item with a strong flavor profile. The pommes paillasson side were quite unique and very good. They're almost like a fry shaped tater tot, but maybe better than either. To top it all off, the drinks were also pretty dang good. This one might be just short of a 5-star and is definitely a worthwhile stop in Grand Forks!

What a clean, peaceful, relaxing place to stop in and enjoy some time with good company and palate teasing food. This restaurant is a treat because it supports local farms and breweries. The food is unique, fresh and delicious. I had the Poke bowl, my Mom had the Reuben with garden salad. Both were great options. I ordered extra tuna and less rice. That's the way to go!! It was a $6 up charge but totally worth it. The pickled veggies were mouthwatering, the wasabi aioli and soy ginger sauce added the perfect taste to tie it together. It seems the cucumber and sesame seeds got left out, but I didn't even notice until I was all done eating it. I would have given five starts if it wasn't for this minor detail. The Reuben sandwich was great. The mustard sour cream was a nice touch of flavor. Not soggy or messy at all with fresh toasted bread. The salad was lush and green with lots of color. Our service was excellent! Very friendly and accommodating. This marks one of my favorite Grand Forks local spots.

Our camel burger cut in half

I took my wife and her two sisters there for lunch. I found the place to be kind of girly but the atmosphere was very nice. The service was prompt, friendly and pretty quick. The two sisters split the fish and chips and my wife and I split the camel burger. It came out quickly, however the Sister got the honey crusted walleye instead of the fish & Chips. The good thing was they did split the fish lunch with two separate plates as well as splitting the Campbell burger with two separate plates. after about halfway through their fish they said where is the chips so we called the server over and asked where were the chips, we ordered fish and chips, she said sorry and right away put in an order for fish and chips to go since the girls had already finished their lunch. By the way, the girls did not like the honey crusted walleye and would never order it again. The camel burger was unique it tasted a bit like bison very lean, but good. I would probably order it again or try their wings. The girls did eventually eat their Fish and chips. Said it was delicious and they would get it again. We live in Indy so we probably will not go back but the two sisters that live here said they would definitely try it again!

This would be our second time at Ely's Ivy. Well sourced food, unique options for the area, nice atmosphere. Now the criticism part... For so much potential and positive things going for it. Service is very slow. ( Both times) Food is good but not great, drinks take a long time to get, and for everything being so nice as far as atmosphere goes it just seems to lack personality or cool vibe that makes you want to come back. All and all a good place that could easily be so much better with a few touches. Something to help set the mood. ( Little Jazzy music maybe, wait staff that bring a little personality to your table ...) Jus Sayin.

Duck over oat groats, GF fried chicken

Went back with an out of town friend and was downright embarrassed after I had talked up the food so much. It was decidedly mediocre. She got the fried chicken and this time the GF coating was thin and unattractive (mine had been crunchy and delicious). I got the duck, which was tough and served over a huge bed of tasteless groats with tasteless, mushy brussel sprouts. I would not rush back.

This is a really nice restaurant! Ordered the grilled vegan radicchio plate with a honey B non alcoholic drink. Hubby had the shrimp fried risotto cake dish. Great service!

Cute restaurant in downtown Grand Forks. Came here for lunch and a had a delicious and healthy grilled radicchio salad that was absolutely perfect for a cold winter day. It was like a warm hug of delicious veggies. There were plenty of sandwich and meat options also. Service was great.

    Steak appetizer -$14

WOW up to par with the rest of the fine dining restaurants. For grand forks, this is pretty dang good! came here with the coworker after work and split the steak appetizer. Can i say this was amazing? it came with mushrooms and cooked to perfection for medium rare. i could actually eat this as my entree with a side salad in the future! My friend got the burger with their hashbrown fries? the fries were amazing! it's a mix of a tator tot and hashbrown. fried goodness let's just say. i got the shrimp plate and these shrimps were HUGE! I was surprised when it was only 3 but i get why now because they were so big. Definitely priced to the size of the shrimp. Also it comes with cauliflower puree versus just mashed potatoes which i prefer and you cant even tell the difference! I would come back in a heartbeat!

We would drive here just for the poutine, and the burgers are spectacular- smashed with an excellent bun and perfectly cooked. Today I had the homemade chips and they were perfect, while the boy had his with a pile of fries. The service is always fast and friendly and s they are always checking to make sure you have everything you need and always topping off drinks. Beer selection is also great w wonderful IPAs on tap. However, I think I like the "unity menu" the very best. "If you are hard up and need a little help, let your server know you are ordering from this menu and there will be no bill or questions asked. Sometimes we all need a little help". Many reasons why we eat here every single time we are in town.

It tastes like every other casual fast food place. The fries here taste a mix of bacon and fries, which threw me off so much. 4.5/10 Ambiance: it was okay. Seating was of an office building, there isn't too much seating. Lot of wasted space. 3/10 Price. TOO EXPENSIVE. We had 3 orders of burgers with fries and 1 other of mac n' cheese with a sandwich. We got a booth inside since it was too hot to dine on their veranda. Our waitress was prompt with our orders and my huckleberry mule came out in a reasonable amount of time. The drink itself was OK. It's fruitiness was a bit odd but at $8 it was a good deal. I ordered the boneless wings with the sweet chili sauce. They were quite good. My wife took advantage of their Monday night $5 off all burgers special and got their specialty burger with bacon, peanut butter and a fried egg on it. Sound gross but she liked it though it was a bit overdone at pink since they wouldn't do medium rare. Prices were reasonable though they have a credit card surcharge. The big complaint was how long we had to wait for our food to arrive even though by the time we ordered the crowds had dissipated. It was a looooong time.

Took them a while to clean it to be quite honest. I just didn't feel like they were doing a good job of busing and cleaning tables when people were emptying. Our table had been bussed but not cleaned and I know it had been sitting there for at least five minutes cause I watched it. Once we got seated, again felt the service was pretty slow. Took a long time for the guy to take our drink order and he walked by the table multiple times. Then when he finally did take the drug order, took a really long time to get drinks. In general, our server was just not very efficient. This occurred throughout the entire meal and often had to ask for things multiple times. For example, when I wanted to get another beer, it took almost 10 minutes. In that time he came to the table twice and on the third time, I finally said, did you get that beer for me and he had totally forgotten evidently. That was a fourth time he had forgotten something that was ordered. When we did actually get food and drinks, the food itself was very very good. The walleye cakes were excellent. My pasta was well cooked and had great flavor. The carrot cake martini was very interesting but definitely tasted like a carrot cake. I think they just need to work on their service, a lot. The quality of the food and the quality of the restaurant deserves much better servers.

Beautiful decor, nice bar and a separate large dining room. The restaurant was virtually empty but we were told there were no booths available. We were seated quickly in the center of the main room. Our server was great. He gave app and entree recommendations, and allowed us time to view the menu. We started with the crab cakes. They were good, heavy on filler though. Two of the three were very dark on the bottom. For entrees we both had the chicken Parmesan. Mine was overcooked and the breading literally fell off, leaving me with unseasoned, dry chicken breast. My colleague's was perfect. Our server did get me a new order, but after waiting I'd lost my appetite. Can't say I'd go back, there are probably better options in the area.
