If possible I would give zero stars for this place. My group of friends sat for an hour waiting for our food order. After approaching the manager we were told the food was almost up, so we waited another 15 mins. As people got their food around us we once again approached the manager regarding the status of our order. He then told us he had cancelled us and had misunderstood that we were still waiting for the order. Probably won't return again. read more

Thankfully, it is other things too, but there is something to be said for a city that continues to show emotion - and show up - for a baseball team that is long out of the playoffs and fresh off of shedding its best pitcher. Skip the Budweiser at the local bar and instead head to the newest iteration of the Elysian Fields Brewpub. Pray that Elysian Fields is offering its Jasmine IPA, a unique and refreshing summer seasonal that is brewed with dried jasmine blossoms. The food offerings won't wow you, but this beer will. Service: bad. Waitress did not come around often, waited forever for our bill as she did roll ups and walked around the restaurant. We had the lunch menu on our table which we assumed was their only menu although it was dinner time and so she got us a new one when we tried to order from it and right away asked if we were ready to order -well obviously not since what I wanted you JUST told me it was only available on the lunch menu!- anyway bad service. She was friendly but very un attentive. Also asked if she could call is a cab she responded by saying "yeah I could but they drive up and down first all the time" and so she didnt and so we stood on the street at night and no taxi. So we walked. Thanks a lot lady. Food: oasis plate was really good. A lot of hummus. (Not enough pita for it) Chipotle chicken good. House salad was quite dry (little oil) and not enough candied walnuts (there were like 4) and too much iceberg lettuce (cheap) Turkey panini.. Gross. Deli style meat inside. A couple of friends and I came here after the art walk. After a few hours of strolling around the city (in drizzle, I might add) a good drink and hot food was in order. It took almost 10 minutes for us to be acknowledged and handed menus. When I asked about the wine I was told they had a couple of whites and reds. No explanation about what they were like. My friends each ordered beers and their questions were answered (albeit in a generic and rehearsed way). The food came out pretty quick but it was terrible. I had a pasta meat mess and my friends had burgers. Well done was secretly code for rare apparently. The server was unapologetic, did nothing to fix it and spent most the time chatting with coworkers. It did the job: we got food and drinks. Good? Not really. Had lunch here before a Mariner's game. The Mariner's ended up winning that game! The beer here is outstanding and the food is pretty good, a lot better than their rival across the street. I really like the space of the restaurant. It felt really large and comfortable. It's also much closer to Safeco field and Qwest stadium, which is also nice. I enjoyed their seasonal IPAs and Porters. I had the Prosciutto and cherry tomato pasta. I was good, the pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce was really light and cherry tomatoes burst with flavor. It was a really good, light meal for a sunny summer afternoon. Since the game was during the day, there weren't too many people here, so we had are choice of seats, with a good view of the TV showing a football game. I imagine though that this place gets really crowded before any Seahawks or Sounders game. read more

I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN, which is sad because I think sodo needs a brewery type atmosphere other than pyramid. The problem is that the security and some of the wait staff here are so un-professional that I simply refuse to ever spend my money here ever again. I am not looking for top class service in bar before a sporting event-- bu the security here is overly bothersome and annoying. There is nothing I hate more that micro-managing crowd management. The security inside of the bar here carry walkie talkies and act like off-duty security guards--not what you want in a place where you want people consuming. But this takes the cake: We had ordered three pitchers of beer directly from the bar, as most normal people do-- but there isnt a great design element to this bar for people that just want to have a beer and set their cups or pitchers somewhere. We paid that bill at the bar-- it was 65.00 plus tip. We were told by security to go into a side room where we didnt have to order food and there was a place to set beers. As soon as we got in there, a server proclaimed that she was the waitress in there and in order to stay there, you HAD to order something. Excuse me? What about the three pitchers we already have? My buddy decides not to argue and just orders another one-- its not like we aren't going to drink it, right? We drank quickly to get to the game and my friend went to go to the bathroom before we headed out. A couple of people that we with us, left and I waited for him. My friend was taking a longer time than usual in the restroom and security approached us to accuse us of refusing to pay a... $15 dollar tab... WHILE WE WERE STILL IN THE BAR!!!... FYI: you can't stiff on a tab while you are still in the restaurant!! It's not like we haven't been there other times and seen the same kind of thing happen-- just terrible overall experiences there that warrant me to not only NEVER GO THERE AGAIN, but to also tell anyone I meet up with or discuss events at Sodo to make a pass at this place. If you took the time to read this review, you should as well.. The lines at Sluggers are always longer, but their service is never going to pull the crap I have seen (and now experienced) at Elysian!! read more

I live next door to the EF in Pioneer Square. When it first opened we were excited, we need more good spots for eat/drink down here. Unfortunately, I'm done with them. I've never had better than "mediocre" food in there. I'm not a foodie, but I can tell you that for the same price as a dinner for oen person in the EF, you can do just as well getting standard bar food at a joint like Sluggers next door and have enough for a beer left over. But EF's biggest problem, at least in this location, is their service. It just sucks. Our neighborhood doesn't have tons of residents yet. It's growing, but EF's business and staffing is mostly driven by events/games at the stadiums or exhibition center. Event/game day? Tons of people, lines out the door, and lots of staff at the EF... but of course they're so slammed that it's so-so service at best. And on NON event/game days? They put on minimal staffing, hardly anyone working there. It's fine if you catch the slow time, but if you go in when there's more than two or three tables, you're going to wait... and wait... and wait. Worst of all, though, they've got stupid/rude people working. My Sounders supporters group (ECS, Emerald City Supporters) had an event there yesterday. Couple of people were complaining to the bartender about the s-l-o-w service and he gave them a bunch of attitude, smirked, said "gee, thanks for coming in" in a super-sarcastic tone, and walked away. We'd let them know ahead of time that we were bringing a group of 150+ on a non-event/game day. At one point at least 95% of the people in there were from our group. We moved tables around for the event, no problem; after it ended and some folks stayed to have some food, they wanted to combined up a couple of tables for the larger group and a server said "no, you can't move the tables, we have to have them ready for tomorrow." This was at 6pm. Absolutely pathetic. The shame of it is that EF brews some reeeeaaalllly tasty beers and ales, but I'm boycotting them from here on out until they get their stuff together. It appears that they're only shooting to suck in as many gameday crowds and make a bunch of money off of them as possible, and screw everyone else the rest of the time. If you want to spend too much on mediocre food on a gameday right next to the stadium(s), go for it. Otherwise, I urge you to save your money, your time, and your blood pressure by avoiding this joint. read more

I would say that the service was terrible, but it was non-existent today. Tried to have a meal before the game tonight and we were seated out on the patio but in the corner. We waited for over 15 minutes, and never received any service. During that time multiple servers took care of other surrounding tables. No one even brought us water. When we informed the host what had happened, we were given excuses that the hostess that sat us was new, and it is hard to see that particular table. After two previously poor experiences, I thought I'd give it one more try. #fail for sure. They are right next to my office so I gave them all the opportunity. In short, the food is terrible. Who serves a cold cuban with cheese that is not melted on crappy lightly toasted white bread? My 5 year old could have made a better cuban with her easy-bake oven. And cold fries to boot... Honestly, my business partner looked at me and said "we can't come back here ever again". I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for food. I was hungry but elected not to eat half of the cuban (and I was really hungry having skipped breakfast). My reward for a crappy lunch was $4 off the bill. $4 off an overpriced crappy cuban that my 5 yo could have made better! And restaurants wonder why they go out of business. It's this lack of concern for food quality combined with an overall crappy attitude combined with the feelings of tip entitlement that make people like me just want to stay home. On our way to the Mariners game we decided to stop in for a few drinks and saw that they had outdoor seating (yay! it's 80 degrees in August). Before we stop in, we look at the menu posted outside and see that they have $2 - $5 Happy Hour Appetizers including Truffle Fries, croquettes, satay - yum! So we walk in and they ask if we're there for dinner or JUST drinks? We say drinks and appetizers, can we sit outside? Ummmmnnnnno, outdoor seating is only if you're having dinner. That's ok, we'll sit inside. Well, we get inside and sit down and the server comes over and we ask about Happy Hour (it's 5 o'clock on a Tuesday) and he looks over at the bartender who yells "no happy hour food, just $1 off drinks!" WTF? What kinda happy hour is that? And why would they have a happy hour menu posted outside? With so many other good places in this city, why would we waste our time at this place? We'll definitely be back - but to walk by and keep on going on our way to the stadium! read more

On the pricey side for food. I ordered the Thai Bowl with fried tofu and the tofu was absolutely delicious!! As was the rest, but the tofu really stood out in my opinion. Their seasonal pumpkin beers are awesome as well, I was pretty impressed by how tasty they were. A beautiful summer afternoon, around 3:30 pm. 5 co workers walk over to Elysian Fields to have some beers and toast a departing colleague. Outside tables all wide open - we walk in and aren't greeted. We go to the bar and ask the bartender if we should order there or go outside. We are told that outside tables are for eating only. There's no one there. We ask why we can't sit there if no one is around, and that we can move if they need it for dinner. Only want a couple of drinks. "Well I'm not sure, the owner says they are for eating only." We decide we'll take our chances. Waitress comes out. "You guys know you need to eat out here right?, I don't want you thinking you can sit here and not eat even though we'll let you now. Also, you can't have happy hour prices out here. So think about if you want to stay." Us: "Ummmm....ok we'll stay." Waitress: "Here's menus"....leaves, comes back 5 minutes later "You know you're supposed to eat out here right?" Horrible service, overpriced food, will definitely NOT be going back here, despite it's convenient location. Came here for dinner and drinks last weekend, and the waitress kept walking away before we were finished ordering, brought us the wrong drinks not once, but twice, and didn't apologize-she had the "I can't be bothered with you" attitude-grrrr. Then, after we finally got our food situated (ok quality, but not good enough to warrant the prices!), took her 20 minutes to bring her our check. Finally, after checking my bank statement, I noticed that she had charged the wrong amount to my card (by $50!!!), and when I called to get it straightened out, they were rude and uncooperative. My girlfriend and I went to this Elysian location to go watch a NBA playoff game. We often frequent the Elysian location downtown and love it. This was our first.. and last experience at this location. We went here because they have a few TVs unlike downtown. We showed up to the bar and were surprised to find that a Sounders game was on (I only follow real sports). We thought for sure that we wouldn't get a seat, but the place was absolutely dead inside. We got a seat and waited about 10 minutes for a drink of water. This was shocking due to the fact that 158368 bartenders were working. Every single one just looked straight through us. We eventually got a few menus.. Then had to wait another 15 minutes for a bartender to painstakingly take our order. I pretty much had to pull a 100 dollar bill out and wave it in their face in order to get noticed. Remember, it's my girlfriend, myself, and about 5 other people at the bar. It was almost comical how horrible the service was. We then made the mistake of asking if we could get our beers in pint glasses instead of plastic cups and the bartender, offended, said they don't do that. I looked to my right and saw the guy at the other end of the bar drinking his beer out of a glass and just chuckled. Anyways, the service here was just flat out horrible. If you are in the mood for some Elysian beer I highly recommend the one downtown. That's a well ran establishment. TLDR: Awesome beer, Gorgeous decor, GOD AWFUL SERVICE. read more

This is my "why I wont go back there" review! We moved our offices to the I.D. area last August and I thought...great we are moving close to the Elysian. Overall, it has not been bad, then suddenly it seemed something was up. The service, no longer so hot, and the prices I was able to over look, it was not out of here bad. Well now the $ for what you get is no worth it combined with the service. My co worker and i went in, ordered beer(which I love) and off their happy hour menu. First off, they have about 4 menus..why? Anyhow, our beer came, my food came, my friends..nope! She waited, and then they brought the same thing I had ordered...lol....umm, wrong again. Finally they got it right. Well my food was gone, so was the beer. Everyone, including the Elysian deserves a second chance. We went back, the co workers and I for Happy Hour. Yea....not good. The service, was spotty and this time we ordered the cheese plate. It was $12, so we thought, good we can share it. Most cheese plates in this city are plentiful. HAHAHAHAAHA! Not the case. I asked where the rest of the cheese was? This was it. A tiny wedge(small enough a strong mouse could have carried it back, and he would have starved!) of Brie, and count them, two slices of other cheeses, some random olives and some bread. WOW. Unless alot of the other bars in the area go out of business, I dont think i will be back. Now I know why it can be so damn empty on Happy Hour, everyone figured out the issues before I did. I'll start by giving them the benefit of the doubt that I came in after a Sounders match. I understand that they're overwhelmed and busy. That being said, we were seated at a table and not waited on for quite some time. After almost 15 minutes I received my first beer, which happened to be in a plastic cup and had a leak. Half my beer dripped out on the table and when I told the waitress all I received was an apology. No new beer, not even extra napkins. We then ordered food that came out almost immediately. Here's freshie, as I write this review I am still buzzing from their fantastic IPAs' they have offered at this location. After a nice walk from Pike Market we ended up at Elysian Fields. Close by there was a game between the Seahawks and the Pats going on, the bar was littered with Seahawks fans watching the game. Looking at the menu I was impressed with the verity of beers they have on tap. Most are their own. Our bartenders James and Jessica were very knowledgeable in their offerings. For starters I had for myself a Bête Blanche, a Belgian Tripple that would be best described as a West Coast Belgian Tripple, from the first sip I immediately detected the citriscy hop characteristic supported by the yeast produced cloves and bananas accents. Next I was offered a tasted of the Arboreal Chestnut Brown. At first the beer was lacking of any of the boasted 50 lbs per batch (I belive that this came from the Capitol Hill 6 barrel brewery)Chestnut characteristics, so I waited and let the Ale warm up a bit. Once the temperature rose, the nose started to reveal the ingredient of its name sake. This beer would be a perfect candidate for Cask Conditioning (served and a higher temperature and with only natural carbonation). Next I had to blow out my pallet with the Immortal IPA followed by the Green Man IPA(organic). I choose to order these simultaneously because of their similar grain bill (one being organic malt and one being regular). Aside the grain bill they both have the same finishing hops and only differs by the bittering hops (Immortal: Chinook, Green Man: Simcoe). I found the Immortal IPA to have a grassy characteristic; I would almost say a delicious malty wheat grass, in a good way. For my taste the Green Man edged out, in my opinion I thought that the play between the malt and yeast characteristic better support the "hop show" that the IPA style demand. Oh yea, they do serve food here as well. My wife and I split a Kobe Beef Burger. James our bartender never asked for how we like it cooked. Now mind you my wife and I normally liked my burgers medium rare, when the burger came it was more medium well. The burger was served with the meat on the bottom and the top with the lettuce, tomatoes, and a pad of pickled red chilies. Now I rarely send any thing back so we dug in any ways. I was surprised how the cut they used really lends itself to more cooking. I guess it's like how I prefer different degrees of doneness per cut of beef (i.e. New York: medium-rare, Rib Eye: medium, and Filet: blue). Now the any burger is never complete without fries, now the fries at Elysian was excellent, now it could be that the plate arrived 3 beers deep, but I have to say if they put that same seasoning on a chicken thigh and dip it in a hot vat of oil I would be walking way plus 10 points in my cholesterol count. Any ways I say Elysian a must go when you're here in Seattle. read more

I work over at Centurylink and come here often but only out of convenience. The service is worse every time. I will not be coming back. The busser brought out our water and touched every single rim. When I asked for straws, he grabbed all of them with his bare hands instead of a napkin. Our server never greeted us and I had to go ask the hostess where he was. He then forgot our coffee and never filled up our waters even when we asked him several times. The place was empty. This is unacceptable. Thank you. read more

We are sat at a booth RIGHT NEXT to the servers' work station, out of all the empty tables in the place. As we sit down the menus come and the woman says, "Table for three right"? So far the following restaurant rules have been broken: 1. Hostess cant remember if we said 3 or 4 and there were only 3 of us standing there. 2. Hostess actually tells us there IS a table to accommodate our request but there isn't a server to man the table. You should keep that to yourself and just say there is no table available. It was very frustrating to hear that and then only minutes later see a couple sat at that very table outside. 3. Use the good seats. I completely understand servers have sections but come on, a half empty restaurant and we are tucked away behind the service station?! Food was okay, not super, which means that between the service and the food we probably won't be back. Too bad since its really conveniently located by the ball park. read more

Summary of Elysian Fields=Terrible service and inedible food. I'm taking time out of my vacation to write a review, because my husband and I had a bad experience on Saturday that I think happens frequently. We drove in to Seattle (after spending time in Portland and then in Olympic National Park), checked into our hotel and walked toward Safeco Field because we were going to the Mariners game at 7pm. 1st Avenue was overrun by tourists and so we tried, to no avail, to find something with quick service and decent looking food. Our last option before eating at the ballpark was Elysian Fields. From the outside it looked like a typical bar with seating on the street--we're from Chicago and it looked like other folks might have stopped in before the game. When we got inside we realized that it was a modernly decorated and MASSIVE space, including abstract art, a fish tank and a large garage style door that opened to the street seating. We were seated quickly, given water and our drink orders were taken by a waitress who, as my husband said, looked more like the "hot, young librarian" than a waitress. The beer list was interesting--we love trying local microbrews--I had the jasmine IPA which was good, but not the most amazing IPA. (Ninkasi IPA out of Eugene, OR and Firestone IPA from CA take the cake on this Pacific NW vacation.) The beer was not the problem though. After taking our food order (I ordered a burger with an interesting arugula salad with shaved parmesan and a pomegranate dressing and my husband ordered a chicken sandwich with fries), we waited at least 15 minutes and then the waitress came back and said "I think I may have lost your food ticket, let me check." She walked away, leaving us feeling miffed and hungry and tired and eager to get to the game. We arrived around 5:30pm, I think, and the place was 85% packed, by the time we were told our order might be lost it was full. The waitress did not come back for another 10 minutes and then all she said was "False alarm" before she quickly skirted away. We saw her take other orders and disappear for long stretches of time. We realized that there was one guy running all food orders to the floor, one or two items at a time. We literally watched as all the tables around us either finished, were delivered food or had their orders taken while our burger and sandwich were nowhere to be seen. At least another 30 minutes went by. My husband said "if the table next to us gets food before us, we're walking out and not paying for the drinks." We were hungry and tired and ready for the game--my husband did not want to miss first pitch. The food finally came and both our meats were OVERCOOKED. My burger was WELL, WELL done and burnt on the outside when I had ordered it medium well. My husband's chicken was DRIED OUT and scorched on the outside. My arugula salad looked like the arugula had been sitting out since yesterday--literally 1/3 of what was on my plate was wilting! The only good thing was the fries that had come with my husband's sandwich. (FYI, the table of 6 that had arrived 25 minutes AFTER us was served food only a few minutes after us! What?!) We wanted to get out and get to the game, but we had to wait another 15 minutes before the waitress even appeared again to get the check. (In the meantime, a couple had come in while we were eating and they easily waited 15 minutes before I saw our waitress take their drink order.) When the waitress returned with the bill, she left it and walked away, so had we wanted to pay with a card, who knows how long it would have taken. We dropped cash and jetted. Needless to say, I would not recommend going here. Get Elysian brews at another location. Elysian management, get more runners, more competent waitstaff and hire cooks who know how to cook! read more

We stopped in here after a 12:40 pm Mariners game with a group of 8 or so. We sat in at a large table in the bar that was self seating. When the server came over I immediately asked him if it was cool if we did separate checks to confirm. He said no problem at all it would just be a 20% auto gratuity which we were comfortable with. We ordered beers. Beers came out, my beer was completely wrong. He was able to bring out a new one promptly. We ordered food. The food came out and we were missing a truffle fry order. We then could not at all find our server so we asked another one about it. Waited 5 min or so. Still nothing. Couldn't find our server still. Finally found him, went up to him to ask him about it but accidentally called it garlic fries instead of truffle. He rudely responded "we don't serve garlic fries" in a condescending manner though he definitely knew what type of fries we had ordered. Finally got the other order. Food was good. Salad was missing the chicken requested. We were all ready to leave, still hadn't seen our waiter for 20 min or so. Had to ask another server to find him for us. Asked for a check. He dropped off one singular check and walked away though we had discussed separate checks. We finally got split checks and got out of there. Food was good, service was AWFUL. The day wasn't even that busy. It's interesting to me that all other Elysian locations have such good reviews, management needs to take a look at this location and figure out how to solve because it's quite the opposite read more

I live in the condo next to this pub, and I rarely go here. A common sight at 8pm on a Saturday night (when there's no game): closed. Twice now I've ordered food here, and when it was delivered, said to the waitress "You have to be f***ing kidding me." Once she had the decency to be embarrassed and actually apologize for her ridiculous management. For the most part, the staff acts entitled, like they're doing you a big favor slinging your beverages. However, the beer here is top-notch. If you're in the mood for some great drinks, no food, and to make fun of a bunch of arrogant foodservants with your friends, Elysian Fields rocks. read more

Was excited to get in before the Seahawks game. Nice set-up but the service was awful, our server might've been drunk still and very slow for being one of the first in and at a table. The food came out awful quick (and lukewarm).. like it was all pre-made and slapped together. Such a disappointment, will not go back there... read more

I was on a bicycle ride today and though I would stop at Elysian Fields for lunch, and had a horrible experience before I could even get in the door. The bouncer at the door insisted I needed to park and lock my bike across the street and down a ways instead of in front of the brewery where there was ample room and I could keep an eye on it. It was a slow day and no one was outside (not that it should matter anyway...) I asked to gals at the front desk and they said it would be OK, only to have one of them come back out a minute later to tell the the bouncer had insisted I do not. Do you have any idea of the rampant bike theft there is in Seattle?? I don't need this kind of crap, and I won't be back and be sure I'll let all my social network friends know of my experience. What ever extremely lame policy you have not to allow a customer to lock a bicycle to the railing. Have a clue or at least provide a bike rack!!! This is not rocket science.Just another clue where this corporate brewery is going. So corporate, So clueless... read more

Three stars is actually pretty generous for this location, it's my least favorite of all of the "Elysians". I've had a few five star experiences, a few one star, but mostly average. I'm obsessed with their pumpkin ales, and I once had a delicious hummus plate there that was to die for. On the whole, though, most of my visits have been...meh. My last experience was really...weird. 7:15 after a Mariner's game, every bar in the area was packed with fans. I knew the Elysian would be slammed, but pumpkin ale is my crack and I had to have some. My first clue that something was amiss was the fact there was only about 10 people in the entire huge (yet oddly under-utilized) building and the requisite game day security guard at the door turning people away. The bar/restaurant was turning people away at 7:15??? Yep, they were closing for the night at the time most people eat dinner. (I guess open til midnight is only accurate if the Mariner's fans haven't worn you out???) He said that technically I had about 15 minutes so I could have one drink at the bar if I hurried. Awesome, I said, I'm just here for pumpkin ale! He then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have any pumpkin ale, it was too early in the year, so if that is what I wanted then don't bother coming in, shooing my out the door quickly. Ummm....ok liar liar pants on fire, I just had some there two days ago (like I said, it's my crack). Begrudgingly, I headed straight down to Whole Foods, a place that has every type of pumpkin ale you want, and gave all my money to them...instead of the Elysian, the people that actually brewed the beer. (Feeling a little less bad remembering I would've actually been giving my money to Anheuser-Busch.) I'm drinking some...right...now...mmmm, Sorry Elysian Fields, I'm gonna stick to the friendlier Capitol Hill location from now on...booooo. read more

mehs all around - from the poor, rude service we got immediately when we entered (thank you to the huffy hostess who apparently does not want to deal with groups over 4) to the random, incoherent menu items (hopefully the last time i ever have a kale salad with pickled eggs, curried pickled cauliflower and spice rubbed chicken...) one star for the beer and one for location / proximity to the ballpark, otherwise this place left much to be wanting read more
