I came here with friends before the soccer game today and wasn't blown away. Sure, it had a decent atmosphere (especially with all those Sounders jerseys at every table) but... it just bugged me that the food here cost as must as it did in the stadium and was of similar quality. Even making it more difficult was view out the window of wonderfully tasty hot dog stands. Yes... it tells you something when I think a hot dog looks better than my food. Not that it tasted bad... it just wasn't anything special. For bloody mary's however... that's another story. They make one mean bloody mary! This is such a great pre-game spot, it's where I go before all sporting events. I just wish they would improve their pre-game menu. This Elysian is quite a bit larger than the other two. At first that seems a little strange if you are expecting the small intimate feeling of the Tangletown Elysian pub, but the place is segmented in such a way that on a quieter weekday evening everybody sits in the tables near the bar and you forget about the how enormous the space is. Parking was easy and free (after 6 pm on a weekday) across the street. The bartenders were friendly and a lot of fun. The beer here is really good. The Great Pumpkin Ale is my favorite pumpkin beer for the third year in a row. Elysian does so many types of pumpkin beers that I'm positive anyone could find one to their liking. They have a happy hour menu after 9 pm that was really tasty and reasonable. $2 for truffle oil fries.. yum! read more

So there are some caveats to this review. Game day and not game day. Pretty simple. 1. Game Day; Great place to get a drink before heading in to either stadium. Place is always packed. Do not expect to get a table 60 minutes before game time. Service is spotty during game day but they do there best with some many people. Beers are always good, if not a few that are great, (especially during October, Great Pumpkin Festival) Food is lest than desired. Hot sandwich I ordered once came out cold in the middle. But again the place is chaotic. 2. Non Game Day; The place is pleasant and easy going. Really good prices on happy hour food during the week, like Potato Croquettes $2, Truffled Fries $2 and BBQ Riblets for $3. The dinner menu is reasonably priced as well. read more

I really like coming here for lunch as you get better service, its less noisy, and fewer crowds (wow, I sound old). Their sandwiches are really good and its great for groups. I have always really liked it - and their salads are surprisingly good as well. I tried a non-alcoholic Mojito here once and wasn't too impressed - but you shouldn't expect much for a non-alcoholic mixer drink at a brewery. The service has always been good with large or small groups and I like the feel of the space - not too terribly sporty considering its location. The last time I was here was before a Sounders game - we told our waiter we were going to the game, and it wasn't until he entered our order that he informed us that the game was starting an hour early that night - right about the time he told us. That seemed a little shady to wait until we ordered to inform us, but the food was good, and really, who watches the first of games (ok, well, a lot of Sounders fans, but it was nice that it was quieter! :) Great place to come before or after a game, or even during lunch! read more

This place has great beer, and good service. I'm a fan of this place. However some of my coworkers point out that they think there's better places to eat in the surrounding area. I say give it a shot. It's not a place I go to every week, even though I work directly across the street from it. The chop chop is a great salad. Also their steak salad is very good if you don't mind steak on the rarer side. I know people who might be put off by that. read more

What can I say? I got some strange looks for walking in with some of 50cent's famous vitamin water, but diluted with whiskey. Despite my apparent propensity to be drinking in public, they still decided to serve me. I have a serious gluten allergy (actually it's a disease called celiac), and they actually had a few nice options that weren't entirely rabbit food (steak salad, charcuterie), so that always get's an A in my book. Quick tips for Elysian Fields: 1. On game days, use the back entrance off 1st ave instead of the front entrance on occidental. Average wait time to get in from 1st ave- 3-5 minutes. 2. On game days, once inside, go to the other end to be seated (typically quickly) and then eat your pre-game (liquid) lunch in the restaurant, rather than trying to get a bartender's attention. 3. If you're staying for the game, the servers will keep an eye open for bar area seats if you ask them... All in all, it's a comfy place to relax before a game. Food is pretty decent- recommendations would be the pulled pork or Cuban sandwiches. If you go with the vegetarian option of hummus (oasis platter) it's good too as long as you love garlic :) Beer list is great, but what's different here are the European bottles we hadn't seen anywhere else (a more rare find from Germany, and a very rare find from Croatia!) read more

I was referred to Elysian for its beer and happy hour specials. Unfortunately, only the food is discounted for happy hour, but on the bright side, the happy hour menu is cheap and the beer is worthy of a full price purchase. At 4:00pm on a Wednesday afternoon, the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. As happy hour wore on, the other tables were steadily filled with what appeared to be other like-minded, corporate refugees. With a happy hour menu of approximately nine items, the selection was adequately varied, and the prices were reasonable. All items ranged from $2.00 at the cheapest to $6.00 at the most expensive. Unfortunately, they were not serving the ahi poke at the time, but I can vouch for the salmon cakes, the chicken satay and the truffled fries. The portion sizes were average, and all of the food tried was well prepared. I saw several varieties of beer all around, but the Bifrst seasonal ale was the most popular at our table. As my drink of choice throughout the afternoon, I thought it was a quality winter ale with lots of hops for some bitterness on the aftertaste and plenty of kick at 7.5% alcohol by volume. With almost a dozen Elysian brews on tap and about half-a-dozen from other breweries, there is no shortage of selection here. The service was efficient and polite, and I would recommend Elysian Fields for business-types in the area, or any other beer lovers looking for something new to try. With full-price drinks, it may not be the most frugal happy hour, but the food is definitely cheap and tasty, and the beer is good quality. read more

Stopped in after a recent Mariners day game. It happened to be the hottest day in Seattle's history. With the game and the heat the place was packed. We were fortunate enough to get to the bar before the throngs of other people made their way up from the stadium, so we had just enough time to get our order in without a long wait. They have a good beer selection - so finding a nice cold beer on tap was no problem. They also had a $5 mojito drink special that day. Happy Hour was in effect -- but the offerings were a little disappointing. We ended up with the truffle fries (they were fine) and the riblet (uninspired). If you do feel the need to check this place out and want something more than just a big bar and a party atmosphere -- make sure to stay away from any mariner/sounders/seahawks games. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't drunk so the Oasis plate was no treat. It had soggy cucumbers, mealy tomatoes, and watery hummus. Yuck. Went there before a Mariner game, so the typical sports crowd was in. Had beers with friends in the 'lounge' to the right of the door. Great place if you have a large group. The staff was friendly and attentive, rarely had to wait for a full beer to come by. Ambiance feels like a garage, with large open doors letting in the summer air. Very large bar in the middle of the place is grossly understaffed, only a couple people at the bar which spans most of the place. Took a long time to get a drink when there really were not very many people in the place. Had the crab cakes and some of the truffled fries on happy hour. Both were decent, but I don't think I'd get the cakes again - quite dry overall. The fries were decent, but nothing compared to Seastars truffled fries. Bottomline: I'd be eager to try another prefunk location before the next Mariner game. There's probably better out there. read more

I am part of the clientele that keeps the "upscale douchiness " in check. I love the Capitol Hill location just fine, but I can walk to this one... and walk home. The beer is great. The food is really good, the bartenders are cool. I am frequently available for comment at their 9PM happy hour. I have watched football there, I have had no complaints at all except that there is an undeniable element of stupid-ass patrons (usually diners within earshot of the bar) drawn to the giant scale of this establishment. It is a huge place (so huge it is pronounce Y'-OOJ) and draws a lot of "work-parties" and after-event get-togethers... so, my complaint is that that I am a bitter little man who prefers smaller places. Top notch beer. My only real complaint is that their liquor license prevents them from filling my growler at that location... so, I have to go to the Hill to do that. Men's Room Red! Men's Room Red! I was pleasantly surprised at the comfortability here. Ideal for large groups. However, the two of us hovered over the bar watching the game which was just as nice. There's something about this place that makes you want to drink. We went for a beer and an appetizer and left a few beers and two shots of tequila in. Maybe it's the excitement everyone around is feeling because they are typically headed to a rock show or a game? We got the Oasis Plate. It came with house-made Hummus, house-made Baba Ganouj, cucumber salad, and grilled pita bread. After ordering I saw the main dishes floating around and I'll definitely try those next time. Usually I look for 4+ star spots on Yelp to dine, but Elysian Fields was close to the venu (WAMU) and I'm a fan of beer so we stopped here for an early dinner (don't mean to sound snotty, just like good food). I had been here for drinks previously, but this was our first dining experience. I was very impressed with the food. We started with an appetizer of steamed clams and were blown away. They had a wonderful salty / bacony broth that we ended up slurping after eating the clams. Really one of the best clam dishes we've had. For a main I had pasta and my wife had a panini. Both were very good as well. I was actually surprised at the tastiness of the food from a brewpub. Service for us was quite good. The server was nice but not anything too extraordinary, pretty much functional. The appetizer and food came out very quickly, with just the right timing. Drinks were good - we each started with a tasty cocktail and moved on to beer. The Dragon's Teat Milk Ale was wonderful. Guessing the service complaints I read here are on game nights where you have to expect being slammed. For us, this was a great experience and we'll surely return. read more

First off, the beer is awesome. However the food is sub par especially for te price. The menu looks great but execution is generally not great. Just bland, not terrible. We also have had sub par service regularly, slow and sometimes Rude. It is unfortunate because we work close by and regularly take business guests to Collins pub a few blocks away because their food is much much better and the wait staff is friendlier. This place has some of the best beer Seattle has to offer, and the bartenders are usually friendly enough. The happy hour food specials could use some improvement though. On my last visit I ordered the fried shrimp for happy hour at a price of $7. I probably received about $3 worth of shrimp and they weren't that great. My buddy ordered some BBQ pork sliders that came out cold, and he said he would give the sliders a 4 out of 10. All the beers I tried were amazing though. Service: bad. Waitress did not come around often, waited forever for our bill as she did roll ups and walked around the restaurant. We had the lunch menu on our table which we assumed was their only menu although it was dinner time and so she got us a new one when we tried to order from it and right away asked if we were ready to order -well obviously not since what I wanted you JUST told me it was only available on the lunch menu!- anyway bad service. She was friendly but very un attentive. Also asked if she could call is a cab she responded by saying "yeah I could but they drive up and down first all the time" and so she didnt and so we stood on the street at night and no taxi. So we walked. Thanks a lot lady. Food: oasis plate was really good. A lot of hummus. (Not enough pita for it) Chipotle chicken good. House salad was quite dry (little oil) and not enough candied walnuts (there were like 4) and too much iceberg lettuce (cheap) Turkey panini.. Gross. Deli style meat inside. Took one bite and just at the fries. Tasted like cheap fast good sandwich We went here as it was Friday night 8pm and everything in this area was closed.
