I'd give these people 0 stars if I could. I made the mistake of hiring them to clean out my chimney after receiving numerous unsolicited calls from them. Upon arriving, Mike the contractor found that our chimney was unlined (not atypical for older homes apparently). He made a big fuss about how dangerous this is and how important it was to get it done; he invoked God's name several times in order to assure us that he's a god-fearing fair man who hates other companies that take advantage of people with their high prices and even told us that there would be no charge for the "inspection" since although we hired him for a cleaning, gas running chimney "don't need to be cleaned". Why does this company call offering services that they know are actually unnecessary??? And then use the non-charging of it as a sign of their generosity?? Anyway, we were so concerned about the potential for gas leakage that we signed the provisional contract with them, with the understanding that you have until 2 days before the installation date to cancel the contract. I called around to other companies and lo and behold, a small business nearby with excellent reviews could do the same job for more than $1,000.00 less!! I called to cancel the appointment well within the allotted time but getting Mike the owner to call back is almost impossible. It seems he's never in and is the only one who can handle canceling of contracts. Instead of getting a call back from him I got a furious call from Mike the contractor, shouting at me about what an inconsiderate person I am, explaining away the reasons why larger business like their charge more (what??!), and trying to verbally bully me into letting them do the job for a lower fee. I actually had to hang up on him because of the yelling. It wan't until my 3rd call to the company over the span of that day that Mike the owner called back to try to be the good cop and gently try to coax me into going ahead with the contract with them. There was no way I was going to give them any business at this point and I made that clear, so Mike the owner decided that I owed them about $70 for the inspection and estimate. As Mike the contractor stated when I met him, NO ONE should pay for a chimney cleaning if they have gas since it's not necessary, and, if you checked their site at the time I did business with them, they were supposedly doing FREE estimates for lining installations. None of that applied to me apparently and I felt worn down by the day-long arguments with these people (including the rude office assistants who took my messages), so I decided they were far too desperate for that money and let them have it so long as I cancelled the contract. I was much happier about the service I got from the small local business I went with and I would recommend everyone shop around before doing business with these Em &Em. I work at home and it really drives me crazy when I see this name on the caller ID. I've never done business with this company; I never will; and they really need to stop calling. Even worse, I'm a guy and the caller had the nerve to call me m'aam.....now they're really not getting my business....smh read more

I never hired them, so this is not a comment on the quality of their chimney work. It is a comment on their desperate unprofessional behavior. They called incessantly after I moved into my home, although I am a no call list. They left no messages. When i finally picked up, they lied and told me they serviced the chimney for the previous owners. They did not. I am not surprised to see other reviews here say the EXACT same complaint over the last two years. read more

The best at what they do, I spoke with a Mike Hammer, he was very friendly him and Mitch were able to answer all questions I had. I was able to set an appointment for the following day. My flue pipe really needed cleaning. If it had not been for Mike Hammer and Mitch, I don't know if I would be here today, you know what they say about Carbon Monoxide, its the silent killer. read more

Had a technician to clean the chimney and it seems as if the technician hit a small pipe to the boiler and it caused a leak. The technician did not tell me about the leak, I found it myself. When I called and he returned ; he said the pipe was old any way. The point is I understand accidents happen, just be an adult and let me know what happened. Water is leaking and now I am waiting for repair man,which I have to pay. He had the nerve to offer to do another job or repair, I think not. read more

I can't even speak on their level of service and expertise because they WON'T STOP CALLING ME!!! They call me almost everyday and sometimes twice a day to say they will be in the area and want to stop by. We have told them several times we aren't interested and they call again the next day. At this point I would never use their services because they are so annoying and frustrating. read more

We were contacted by Em and Em Chimney when we first moved into our house. They came and cleaned our chimney. They were quick and reasonably priced and we fully intended to use them again. Their service was fine. However, their customer service turned my fiance and I off and we have decided not to use the company and I felt the need to write this review because of, what I feel, were harassing phone calls. About a week after we had our chimney cleaned, they called us to set up an appointment. We explained that they had JUST cleaned our chimney and they said that they would call back in the spring. And they did. Over and over again. They called my cell and the home phone. Several times I asked them if I could call and set up an appointment at my convenience. Both women rudely said "No, we'll call you" without listening to my request that I wanted to call them and not be bothered in the meantime. One woman told me they would call back in September. This spring I would get calls on my home phone coming up as "Em and Em Chimney". I would choose not to pick up and then I would get another call coming up as "Private- Out of Area". I would pick up and it was Em and Em. They disguised their number so I would pick up. After the "We'll call you in September" call, we didn't hear from them for about a month. Then in July I was renovating the bath room and the phone kept ringing and I kept missing it. The number on the caller ID was "out of area-- private". Finally, I got pissed off and put the phone next to me and when I picked up I got hung up on twice. The next day my fiance was home from work and got a call from.... you guessed it, "Out of area-private". It was Em and Em Chimney. I guess they were hanging up on me, waiting to talk to him because they thought they'd get a different answer. He told them that we would no longer require their services and to take us off their list. We'll see if they listen. I understand that companies are trying to garner up business but I find the hang up calls and cat and mouse games with the private number to be harassment. We would have used this company again if they listened to my request to call and set up an appointment. read more

Horrible. Office is nasty to customers. They left a mess in my gutters and nearby areas, cement etc from the repointing of bricks. Worked sloppy and needed oversight. Rescheduled a few times too, with very last minute notice where it affected my husbands work schedule. Avoid at all costs. read more

My cousin recommended this company to me he owns a plumbing supply place. I figured they were a shew in and I had nothing to worry about but that is not how it played out. Make certain if you do business with them you are clear on what they are doing for you. Educated yourself on what is entailed in the job or you may end up paying for more work to be done after they leave work that should be included in a chimney liner replacement or installation. Have it all written down on the contract before you give them the go ahead to do the work or you will regret it. The guy that did the estimate was not at my home for the work so the the things we discussed that would be done that were not on his original contract were not done. When I made the verbal agreement to proceed with the work I was assured these things would be done. Make sure you pay them by check so if they don't do what they say you can stop payment and make them do what they said they would do. I paid by cash and they ran out the door without saying good bye. I got the run around from one of their mechanics on a few occasions. I left work early to come home to meet with them to fix the mistakes and they never showed. The guy who scheduled with me the day before told the dispatcher he never set the appointment. The work did get done but the entire experience had me unhappy on multiple occasions. It shouldn't be this way you should have peace of mind not heart burn when you have some one working on your home. The job was not cheap and I was told the job takes between 3 to 4 hours however they were out the door in an hour and a half and the Mechanic made it seem as if there were so many problems with my chimney. The communication skills of this Company is down right terrible. No calls backs when they say they will get back to you. You have to follow up on your questions again. Be aware. read more
