DO NOT USE EM DUCT! I contacted them after reading several reviews and not completely satisfied with the company I used last year. A he led an appointment between 11-4pm, they called at 5:30 to say the technician had run late with a job , said would offer a discount for my inconvenience and rescheduled. Next appointment, received a call the day of my appointment asking if they could come earlier than my 11-4pm time lot, I said yes! At 2pm no one had arrived, I called and was told that the truck had issues, asked if I would please reschedule AGIAN. Shame on me, I did, so here I sit today, no call last night to tell me the time window, I called and inquired. Nancy still doesn't have an answer for me, it's almost 2pm Terrible service, no respect for peoples time, they wait to get you on the books and string you along. If you search through my reviews you will see that I take time to review only when the service/product is super great or super awful. This one was a super great experience. Andre, his brother and the other team member were professional (taking off shoes and super nice) and did the job. I had no clue that cleaning ducts was a every two years thing. Needless to say the house is so much warmer after they cleaned out the ducts. They serviced six apartments on a really cold day. But here is the real test of a business--- do they really care about their clients..... It had just snowed in Chicago (9 inches) and while I had shoveled, Andre picked up the shovel and created more snow free space on both of my properties. This is a tough one for me. On the one hand, I'd give them a higher rating for the work they did. I'd give them a lower rating for the mistake. UP until we found it, they were 5 stars. We had them come give us a quote for a dryer vent cleaning. Another company wanted to open up the wall to clean it and we called EM for a 2nd opinion. They were clever and were able to access the vent another way (via the attic) and cleaned out a TON of lint. They said two things: (1) The original guys should have cleaned it, and could have accessed it the same way. (2) There were rock-solid positive that there was no reason to open up the wall because they could tell from the airflow, there wasn't a disconnection anywhere, it was just too clogged. If I left it at #1, they get 5 stars. The guys that came were professional, on time, and respectful of the house. I appreciated their energy. The issue is that the original company's owner came to see what his guys "missed". After some discussion, we agreed that there was still an issue and they should open up the wall. When they did, there was a 50% offset in a part of the venting that had been disconnected. In other words, it was blowing lint and CO into our walls/ house. It's bad that EM missed this, but mistakes happen. What was frustrating was that they were so POSITIVE that there was no issue. That was bad. I really liked the crew that came, but can't trust their judgment going forward. For a simpler job, i'd certainly call them though. read more

*BEWARE* I read tons of "positive reviews" online and decided to go with Em Duct cleaning based on reviews I've read. I purchased a Groupon and made an appointment. They ended up canceling on us due to a work over load on another customers house and promised us a compensation with another service (Which Never Happened) We then rescheduled for today, we never got a confirmation or anything letting us know. We called them and they said they will re route and be at our home in 30 mins. Assuming they forgot about us. This guy Xavier arrives smelling like straight weed. Soon as He goes around inspecting the vents and goes outside to call his office manager saying we didn't want that add on for a deep cleaning. All he did was try to sell us extra BS! He didn't even inspect the vents, the hvac system nor deodorized the vents. As what the Groupon stayed. All he did was come with a shop vac and vacuumed the vents. It took him 30 mins to do everything, in and out. Also had us open our windows and garage so he can put the cleaning pipes thru the window. Which he didn't even do. I could of vacuumed the vents my self. Half ass job, like he rushed it. Before he left he said he couldn't get the vents good. Isn't it your job to clean it? That's unprofessional. All they do is bait and switch, telling you need this and that. Complete waste of money. Trying to make you pay $300 off the bat then say for "you" it's $200. It was very easy to schedule with the company and they arrived on time. I know very little about air duct systems. Kameron and his helper Tony were so incredibly helpful and considerate. They took their shoes off every time they entered my condo, explained what the LY were going to do over next the 2 hours. Absolutely worth it. I had Kameron and Clint and was blown away. Kameron explained with detailed what was going to be performed, as he was going through the vents he was showing me pictures of the inside conditions of my ducts, then as he moved to the furnace he also showed me how bad the return was and also the condition of the blower. Clint was very conscious of the areas to clean and very respectful with my pets and property. After seeing the before and after pictures I realized that I made a smart investment, I know I will save on my utilities, but most importantly I know we will be breathing healthier. I was resourcing for air duct cleaning services and after countless phone calls , I've stumbled on EM Duct cleaning company. When I called, they told me that they could come in 30 minutes for consultation and if interested m, the move would be done on the same day. I was skeptical but went ahead and scheduled. Deon and Devon who are twins came immediately. After their consultation, Devon pointed the dusts in the intakes (hopefully I got the lingo) were so dusty and that explains our ongoing allergy and sickness. I hired EM Duct Cleaning and Andre, Lorenzo and Clint came out to clean my vents, returns, dryer vent and blower motor. I was EXTREMELY pleased with the service and the results! I wouldn't be surprised if the ducts in my 1940's house had never been cleaned and I was shocked to see the before and after - they looked like different vents and the amount of dust and spiderwebs and pet hair that was in there was shocking. They kept me updated on what they were doing and gave me tips about my HVAC system for quick DIY maintenance I could be doing myself. I believe EM Duct Cleaning did a good job cleaning my HVAC ducts (albeit I can't see inside the ducts so who knows). However, I'm deducting two stars; (1) I really don't appreciate upselling onsite. I purchased a Groupon for $100 which covered "Negative Pressure Cleaning with HVAC Inspection, Unlimited Vent & Dryer Vent Cleaning and Deodorizing". AND I was told by another duct cleaning company - that's all my system required. EM does not provide a consultation visit for a more exact diagnosis of services required-unlike other cleaning companies. (Probably done on purpose) So EM's owner arrived on the morning of my scheduled cleaning, checked one area of my HVAC and immediately claimed my system also required a 'cold air return' vent brushing which was an extra $189 bucks or something around this amount. Really? Doesn't every dusty vent require such? According to EM's owner, 75% of his customers require this additional service - so then why not include this in the Groupon deal from the beginning?? or offer two types of Groupon's; one for returning customers not requiring a "cold air return brushing" and one for customers unsure of how long ago their vents were cleaned which would cost more?? Anyhow, I have our ENTIRE conversation on video/audio tape - as the owner does not recall saying he makes "no money from Groupon sales", as he tried to convince me to spend additional money. (blank stare) Doesn't everyone have cameras these days?? duhhh.. (2) EM uses very large clunky equipment, which meant both my front and back doors were open during their visit at different times, tons of bugs entered my home. I couldn't have asked for a better job than what Andre and Nelson had done. I was shocked to see what they discovered after removing the return vents the amount of dirt that had been blocking the airway. They did a great job and Andre answered any questions that I had. Him and Nelson made a great team as worked together to get the job done. They cleaned up everything and put the vent covers back on after sanitizing the vents. Andre and Lorenzo arrived promptly at the exact time the dispatcher told me they would. They were very professional and respectful of our home (taking shoes off). They both gave thorough and helpful explanations of the process for the duct cleaning and installation of the UV-C light. They showed before and after pictures of the ducts and once the installation of the light was complete, explained to my husband and I what to look out for and how to maintain their progress.
