I greatly appreciated this communication and that I always felt in the loop! I especially appreciated getting an alert a half hour before the cleaners arrived so that I was ready. From the moment the cleaners arrived, they were kind, professional, and efficient. They helped me get everything ready for the cleaning, get the cats put in a secluded space, and got me setup outside for a work call. They were very respectful and willing to work around my work situation. The requested service of air duct cleaning was completed within a timely manner and very thoroughly. As a former general contractor in Chicago, I really appreciate quality work at a fair price. After calling several duct cleaning companies in the area--all of which quoted very high prices--my neighbor recommended Mr. Duct. I was a bit skeptical since their pricing was about one-third of everyone else's, but I needed to have all three of my HVAC units cleaned, so I decided to give them a try. Scheduling the appointment was quick and easy over the phone. Juan, the technician, was wonderful to work with--professional, courteous, and very respectful of my property. He kept everything tidy throughout the process and even showed me before-and-after photos of a few ducts. The difference was incredible! TLDR: THE. WORST. Really, it should be ZERO STARS. Do not spend your money or time with this company. Terrible, insulting customer service and sub-par work on a very basic job. The Details: Mr. Duct came out last week to do a dryer vent cleaning--all started fine. Got an early call from Tom, the Operations Manager, with a time they would arrive (give or take a few with traffic.) They showed up 40 minutes after the given time. Came, did their work and left. The dryer didn't heat afterwards. They agreed to do a re-inspection. Same drill this time. Technician showed up more than 30 minutes past the time I was given by Tom earlier this morning. Talked with Tom when they hadn't shown up, and he was rude and talked over me--said that his specific time of 8:30 was only an estimate and that the tech would be there in the window. He was not. Vince (the re-inspect tech) couldn't figure it out and said he didn't know what else to do. He called the office multiple times, and the last time, Tom got on the phone. I requested another person to speak with given his prior terrible service. He refused and, again, talked over me. He then spoke as condescendingly to me as I've heard, telling me to call a dryer tech, and they would come out. And then they would fix it. It's not Mr. Duct's problem. Their Sales Director, Alyssa, called back to apologize. Only helpful customer service interaction that was good. But it was still terrible. Called a few appliance repair companies, including one that I had used for a microwave issue a few months back. OVER THE PHONE, he asked me to send him pictures of the gas line. AND IN TWO MINUTES, he advised that *they didn't turn the gas line back on*. It was completely their fault and such a minor, basic thing that the original tech should have done, Vince should have caught and the office manager Tom definitely should have caught. The vacuum itself will remain outside of the home, but the hose is brought inside. The technician(s) will need to create an 8-inch opening in the trunk lines to attach the hose. This opening will be sealed up after the service with a 10-inch square patch of sheet metal and reinforced with stainless steel screws and aluminum duct tape. The technicians will go around the home and seal off all of the supply and return vents, then go one by one, removing and wiping down each vent register, then using the viper whip. This device gets inserted into each vent opening, creating positive air pressure to whip around, hitting the walls of the duct work, loosening and dislodging all of the dust/debris/dander while pushing it through to the trunk lines. Air Duct Warranty Mr. Duct has a 30 Day Warranty on the Air Duct cleaning. If there are any issues with the cleaning or any debris that is left or stuck in the vents the technician will come out free of charge to re-inspect the work. Multiple reschedules due to techs missing appointment windows, not having parts, tech forgot to switch breaker back on, tech did not correctly clean the unit. It has taken 3 weeks, 4 separate appointments, 3 different service techs to get my AC working again. It worked fine before the first service appointment. I was billed for parts and services NOT quoted to me at the time of service. The operations manager was completely rude, tried to tell me the reason the unit was so clogged after the first "cleaning" was because I have dogs. He said if I didn't want the parts (not quoted at time of service) they would come back and remove them. He would not take any responsibility for the problems of service his company provided and only gave me a partial refund and said they would refuse to service me again in the future. Another vote for the team of Mario and Danny!!! They just left my house -a 1906 old old old 4-square in Oak Park- and did a fantastic job. Danny showed me video of a big vent in my dining room "before" and "after"... holy cow. And he pulled out a bag of rocks! From the vent! There were rocks in my vent! These guys know what they are doing and just rolled with it as this house is freaking old and falling apart. Mario and Danny arrived right on time. They were both so friendly, and both worked so hard to make sure every vent- plus our furnace and dryer- were 100% clean. My house feels completely different in terms of air quality now, literally 10 minutes later. I can feel the difference! I can breathe better. Great price, too. I usually don't like to write negative reviews but I feels I had to share my experience, which was unfulfilling. I strategically had my hvac system and dryer vent cleaned before I moved in my new house. They cleaned the hvac system fine, but I never was sent any before or after photos; my parent was there because I had to work and I was hoping to see the pics since I was paying and it was my house. In regard to the dryer vent I am extremely disappointed. Apparently my hose vented to the attic. The guy asked to take it off to inspect it and my parent said ok thinking that's what he was there for. The guy then ripped it off the ceiling. They asked if he was going to put it back on and the worker offered a friend to come and fix it for a few hundred and suggestion of a different vent line, but had no Intentions of putting it back in b/c he couldn't reach. My parent tried to fix it and ended up in the ER. When I returned home I found out I didn't have a working dryer. I emailed the company and they said "everything should have been in working order when the guy left" and would pass along to management. A few days went by and I hadn't heard anything. I sent a follow up and finally got a call. I was told they would look into it after I explained what happened. The guy that serviced my house was out-of-town and so they had to wait until his return to get "his side of the story", so I had to wait another week. I told him I had no working drying and he said to just let it "vent to the attic" which is very problematic for the home. In the interim a friend came to help me fix it and brought a whole team over. I finally heard back from management and the worker lied about the conversation he had to my parent. Management ultimately took his side- the only resolution he offered was a "group meet to sit down and discuss what we could do". I do not have time for that and honestly don't care to have anymore dealings w/ the company, especially since if I didn't have a friend help out, they would have done nothing to fix the problem they caused. read more

Wouldn't recommend. They installed our AC in 2017. In 2021 our AC wasn't working properly so they came over and added freon which seemed to fix the issue but is not common after only 4 years for a brand new AC. This year in May the AC was very weak so we had a service call and they just told us to change the air filter which did nothing. Now, 2 months later the AC is completely out and they are asking us to pay another assessment fee to diagnose the issue. read more

Achoo! Achoo! My condo had gotten super dusty lately, and I realized Mr. Duct hadn't been here in five years. The crew (supervised by Pedro) arrived today. They cleaned the ducts, dryer exhaust hose and bathroom fan (the dirtiest of the three). They even went on the building roof to clean the bathroom exhaust pipe, which was plugged up. As before, the crew was friendly, efficient and very thorough. Competitive pricing, considering the high quality. Decided not to wait that long to call on them again. Quick and easy to get a quote and was scheduled for a cleaning the next morning (first stop on their list), although if I had been home they could have accommodated same-day service. The team was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly -- not to mention efficient! They finished in about half the estimated time. We live on the top of a four-story walkup and they hauled the incredibly heavy equipment up no problem, which i know is part of the job but they did it quickly and without issues -- I really appreciated their extra effort. Services performed included dryer vent and air duct cleaning, and both were well worth the value. Our building is older, and our dryer had been running extremely slow/not at all. I had Mr. Duct come and clean my dryer vent. They gave me a great tip that I didn't know. After you are done with your drying cycle, set the dryer to the no heat setting and run it for 10 minutes. The lint only sticks to the vent because of the heat and by blowing the cold air through after it sends out most debris. They also recommend cleaning once a year for fire prevention. Let me give you some clear and specific reasons to avoid this company. We first hired Mr. Duct to come out and do our whole HOA's yearly duct/HVAC inspection/servicing and it seemed all was well. However, about a month later a loud knocking noise persisted (this is brand new furnace less than 2 years old) so I contacted them to come out. On the day of arrival they were late to their service window timeframe they gave me, and I had to call them to find this out as they had not shown. When the tech arrived, he did not seem knowledgeable and he said I was having some water backup in a pipe he cleaned out and he said, "who does your yearly service?" I replied, "your company - they were out here a month ago." He clearly indicated they should have done this. He then states that I just needed to get it different type of filter and the knocking would stop and he left. Later that night, the banging continues (after a filter change as he instructed), so I called the next day and indicated the situation and asked that they send someone back out as the issue was not resolved, despite the charge and service call that had said it was "good to go." The representative was very rude and cut me off as I was trying to speak and demanded to "let her talk" with all her telling me as "I can't do anything but send someone out mid-next week." I explained that I had rearranged my schedule to make the last visit and that I needed someone to come sooner given the situation and she said, "Hey, unless you have no heat, no one is coming out [until next week]." She had zero apologies for the inconvenience and didn't even take the time to listen to my concern, so I asked to speak to the manager. The owner came on, immediately defensive (what ever happened to customer service?) and would not listen to the concern or a description of the issue and the need to resolve it, with him also cutting me off and telling me "we're not doing anything until next week as your heat isn't out." No apologies, no respect for the customer, and a flippant and dismissive attitude (despite me and our HOA bringing them a huge book of service in hiring/recommending them to our owners). I told him under the circumstances that I would appreciate if he could send a tech out today or tomorrow and he refused, said it wasn't happening, and kept talking over me and even put me on hold at one point because he said "he wanted to talk and wasn't going to listen to my request anymore". I was shocked that this is how someone could run a business. He then said, "you can have a refund and go elsewhere or you can wait." I told him I preferred a refund and hung up. The plot thickens, as Elite HVAC just came out and inspected things today and the technician couldn't believe that the servicing company (Mr. Duct) hadn't caught major water staining and pooling water from leaking parts in the furnace - something that was not only causing the issue but, had I left it as is as Mr. Duct's tech had suggested, could have led to major damage to the furnace. He also discovered that when they Mr. Duct came out to do yearly service, they had also not expected and switch the humidifier part of the furnace unit as they should have. Long story short, run the other direction from this company. They not only don't respect their loyal customers, but they also provide shoddy, sloppy service that cuts corners and could leave you worse off than when you called them in the first place. It's been quite a while since our last cleaning so we were due for another one. The technicians Daniel and Hector were very pleasant, did a very thorough job and did a great job cleaning up after themselves. We saw and heard the sheer amount of debris/fuzz coming from out of our ventilation system. Based on the job I witnessed, I would highly recommend Mr. Duct to others. Asked in a group for a recommendation, Mr. Duct was one of them. Saw the excellent reviews, company had a good feel to it. I was not disappointed - was contacted within 10 minutes and they were able to send me a tech same day to do duct cleaning and minor cleaning/repair to my two HVAC systems. The tech spent about 4 hours in the house - and we are on a fairly high floor for him to bring his equipment.
