Being a home owner, there are many projects that need to be taken care of yet I can't execute them alone on many of them. After a few weeks of cold and snowy days in late January and February, I felt the furnace and the ducts might need a major TLC. I contacted "Chicagoland Air Duct" via Yelp messaging where one can request a quote. Their office responded to me in a fairly timely manner and detailed the pricing and work that will performed. That alone was a determining factor and I decided to do business with them. Other companies either charged a bit high in my opinion or didn't delineate much of anything at all in their communications. Scheduling was easy. I did it all through Yelp messaging. We were able to do in the same day, but I opted for a Sunday service because my partner and I would both be home. E-mail and text confirmations were sent right after booking with an approximate time frame that the technician(s) will arrive. The lead technician for my project was also assigned with their first and last names. Everything appeared to be very legit and professional! Jerry, the lead technician and Anthony, the assistant, arrived in the beginning of the time frame. Jerry called me and announced his estimated time of arrival. I thought it was very nice because both my partner and I were having our morning naps (lol)! The house has two (2) furnaces. However, I just needed the one that serviced basement and first floor to be cleaned for today's purposes. They were efficient and knew exactly what they were doing. Jerry suggested a furnace cleaning upon inspection for an additional charge ($99). I knew our furnace was quite dirty since no major maintenance was done in the past. My partner and I agreed with the add-on and then Jerry went right into work. By the way, they were also good listeners. We have two (2) indoor cats and I had an unpleasant experience with one of them went outside when someone was performing a home improvement project in the past. We spoke to them about the cats being inside one of the rooms that had a vent. They were ok with touching the basement vents after the first floor ones were completed. They accept cash, checks, and debit/credit cards. Jerry also recommended some follow-up maintenance on our furnace. I'm planning on using "Chicagoland Air Duct" again for the top floor vent cleaning and furnace inspection. I had a positive experience with the company. Their prices were fair; workers were professional; communications were prompt and clear. read more

Further update- we just learned that we have carbon monoxide circulating from our furnace. The technician who ran positive tests for carbon monoxide in multiple ducts throughout the house pointed to a faulty heat exchanger and/or poor installation. He noted that the heat exchanger was set to combusting gas. As I wrote in my last updated review, we became aware of issues with the installation last season when I noticed water pooling on top of our furnace. Another HVAC technician diagnosed the pipes venting the furnace were not sealed. This allowed condensation to escape at multiple joints in the pipe that seeped down and pooled on top of the furnace. When the technician removed the front of the furnace, we found a layer of rust and build up on the bottom interior of the furnace. He said that we are lucky that this didn't come in contact with a nearby circuit panel, but that we should take care of it ASAP. Chicagoland Air Duct reiterated that it was outside their warranty, and further added that they no longer do furnace installation. After speaking with a Goodman Rep about a possibly faulty heat exchanger I was told that the part definitely is covered by the warranty, but that the labor is not. Another HVAC company quoted around $2000 for that labor. I am about to contact Chicagoland Air Duct and ask them to please do the right thing and address this problem. Wish me luck. read more

Update: We had to dispute the charge with the credit card company and filed a complaint with the BBB. They lied saying it was "refunded before we complained and it only took a few days". B.S. The last time we spoke to Josh on the phone he had said his boss never put in the request yet. The radio silence. No one answered the phones, no replies to voice messages/emails sent. Save yourself the headache and find a better business. Terrible communication and business practice. They lost out on loyal, repeat customers here. No thank you! read more

This is nowhere near the cleaning service AS ADVERTISED, EXPECTED AND PROMISED. They were done in under 30 minutes and did not use rotary tools to "clean" anything. If they did use them they did not work at all. I've had my ducts cleaned before and literally all these guys did was vacuum. My previous cleaner had a video before and after our largest return vents. This hack showed a picture of the shop vacuum contents. Not sure how they hooked into the ventilation system if they did at all. They wanted to get this done and collect payment. At the end they awkwardly asked for a tip pressuring my wife. Then told her it was a minimum of 15%. So total was $401...for under 30 minutes. Totally unacceptable but typical of many service providing companies by overcharging and underperforming. Learned a lesson this time. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. The "system" said the Technician arrived at 8:15AM. I have time stamped text from my wife that they arrived inside to start work at 8:41AM. They were done and collected payment before 9:20 AM. After a lot of procrastinating, I called for an appointment and I was surprised to find they could come out right away. I had previously gotten a quote via Yelp. They confirmed via email and had a text reminder. We planned to do air duct cleaning, but after taking some initial photos they told us our ducts weren't actually dirty. I was surprised to get that honesty! We did clean our furnace blower and we got some good recommendations about when to next have our furnace inspected and when we might call them back to actually clean the ducts. They also showed us how to check to see if things are dirty. The guys were really nice and funny! I'll definitely call them next time I manage to "adult" again. read more

Mainly chose this place because of the favorable reviews. I did some estimates with other companies and decided to go with these guys because they were upfront about pricing and didn't lure you in with a coupon and then say you need to get a higher end service. I was able to book online and Dion and Eric came on-time and ready to get to work. They were patient throughout the process as I asked questions and was watching them. Dion noticed my system needed a cleaning and said they could do that for an extra charge, I was okay with doing it, since it was dirty, but it would of been nice to have that included in the package. They did throw in some other extras, cleaned out the bathroom vents and dryer vents, so I can't complain. The dryer vent REALLY needed a cleaning and I was very thankful that they were able to take care of that. We are the second owners to the home, and I don't believe the vents were cleaned ever. Any of them. So overall this was needed. Good job overall, and would recommend for sure. read more

I do not recommend Chicagoland Air Duct! I just renovated my first house and was looking forward to having the ducts cleaned out so I could use the ac. The two guys that showed up apparently never used their equipment before because while vacuuming out the ducts they didn't connect the hose to a filter and sprayed dust all over my house. Our brand new carpet was ruined and our newly painted walls. I'm still waiting for the manager to call me back and it's been days and no one will answer their phone. Save your money and use a professional company. I had to hire professional cleaners to clean their mess. I have tried to call multiple times and no one answers. The service provided was subpar. They spent less than 30 mins in a 3 bed room home and did not clean the second floor because apparently the registers' screws were too deep in the wall. I had to ask them to come back and clean it again. Afterwards they would not put my registers back saying it would destroy my wall. I had to put them back myself with a screwdriver and it was fine. Y'all...let me tell you something...I have lived in my home for 6 years. They came to clean my duct system yesterday and in less than 24 hours, I am breathing better air and I can FEEL it. I almost want to cry. I noticed over the years that the house was so dusty, but didn't connect what the reason was. Also, what I thought were seasonal allergies got worse, effecting me year round. I'd wake up congested and sneezy and have itchy, puffy eyes EXCEPT when I'd be on vacation so I figured that there was something about my hometown that didn't agree with me. Then, I noticed that my furnace filters were black and full in less than 3 months--and even though I don't know much about systems, I knew that wasn't right! I was closing one of my ceiling vents two years ago, and when the heat kicked on, dust blew into my eyes and I said to myself that maybe I needed to get someone to clear the dust it of the system. I started lookin around and the quotes were a couple thousand when I gave them my square footage. Desperate and tired of sneezing and crap, I came to Yelp to find a lower price with good ratings and found these guys. Folks, for the first time in YEARS, I woke up with no congestion! If I could give Chicagoland air ducts 10 stars, I would!!! This was my first experience looking for an hvac/furnace cleaning and tuneup due to prolonged (7 months currently) work in the unit upstairs, so I've been stressed out and a bit nervous about the process. Josh and Omair arrived at the end of their work day, cheerful and just super cool about the mess my place is and all the questions I had. Josh, the lead tech, is VERY knowledgeable about ducts and furnaces, and was very gracious in sharing what he knew. Just a great vibe from both of them at the start, which helped put me at ease. They cleaned out 9 vent-registers/ducts and did a tuneup on my furnace. MUST RAVE about Josh again! There'd been some water leakage from upstairs unit onto my furnace back in August, and he took care to look it over thoroughly, explain how it would shut down if there was a safety issue, and just reassured me it was still in good shape. Additionally, if there was a future issue, what the likely culprit would be, but that it was in good order at present. Plus, he was gracious enough to offer to come out for any future furnace concerns, if I had any, but didn't think I would for awhile. He still said to call or text if I had any questions. VERY PROFESSIONAL, KIND, and completely unselfish about his time! Honestly, I never expected to have such a great, human interaction from this! I wasn't taken advantage of or upcharged, or sold anything I didn't need, want, or couldn't afford. Prices and rates are VERY fair and reasonable! The first time we used these guys for our house in Addison last year they did a great job and were very professional/thorough. We hired them again at the beginning of the month for our new house in Batavia, but the experience wasn't too impressive this time. The service crew finished off their cigarettes just before entering our home, and were nice enough to leave the butts in our grass/Garden. Not exactly what ppl imagine when they hire someone to come help clean their indoor air system. The crew also failed to do the "complimentary furnace inspection and dryer vent cleaning", and when I asked about it they didn't seem to know anything abou. They were friendly enough, but not sure I can recommend them again after this last experience. Update 12/18: shortly after my initial review the owner contacted me to make things right. He sent another crew out that was very friendly, professional, and quick. They inspected the furnace as promised and added a complimentary anti-microbial product to the vents. I am very pleased with my service from Chicagoland Air Duct. They were very professional from the first phone call all the way through the process. I used Yelp to find someone to do this work as I have had bad experiences with people from the coupon books. The prices they offer are way more than the "$99 specials" you see advertised in the paper and in coupon mailers. Those companies are known to aggressively upsell you and generally not do that great of a job. I fell for that once before and will not put up with it again. These guys charged $479 up front and that was all I paid. They cleaned all the furnaces, registers, returns and things I didn't even know about. The dryer vent cleaning was included - this costs $100 extra at some places. The crew was very professional and I didn't feel like I was getting screwed over. He even took the time to explain things we could do too keep our air cleaner in between professional service. I just called to get a quote. The person answered, gave their greeting, and hung up. I was annoyed, but I assumed it was because they couldn't hear me, so I called back and when she answered again, I asked if she could hear me. I received an irritated response of "yes". I said I just wanted to make sure because I just called and you hung up. I started to ask for a quote and was interrupted by her saying because I couldn't hear you. It was just annoying and I felt customer service was off from the beginning. Needless to say, I hung up and didn't get a quote. The service may have been amazing but for me customer service is key. I received a response from a manager who apparently didn't read the review in its entirety. I DID actually call back and when I called back I said it was because I assumed it was because the person who answered couldn't hear me. When they answered; I asked if they could hear me and received a "yes" with an attitude. I said, Oh ok because I called before and you hung up. I continued to talk to ask for a quote and was interrupted again with an attitude "because I couldn't hear you." So I did call back to allow a second chance, well a first chance because I pretty much knew it was a reception issue. The attitude I received, which was my first impression followed by your response to my review is all I need to know about your customer service. I did not give any false information, I spoke about my experience. A business's reputation is not solely based on the work that they do, it's also based on the customer service that they provide - from the initial point of contact through the end of their service. I appreciate that you're running a business and you give fair pricing a good service but the way that I was spoken to was unnecessary, I didn't call back with an attitude to say "why'd you hang up on me?". No, I called and made sure that the person on the other end could hear me and SHE responded with an attitude. Even after clarifying why I asked that, her attitude continued. So rather than "reprimanding" me and implying that I'm lying and being unfair, you should probably retrain your employee. read more

WOW! I could not have had a better experience! Our service tech Josh was respectful, professional, and personable. Not only did he and the other tech do a great job cleaning our ducts, dryer and furnace at the most affordable price I could find, they really went the extra mile. After putting our furnace back together it mysteriously stopped working. It's a very old unit which makes issues like this inevitable. Josh worked hard to fix the problem, even going so far as to skip their lunch to make sure we had a good experience. Once they reached the end of their troubleshooting, they called in an HVAC tech to find a solution. Turns out a previous company that serviced our furnace had surreptitiously placed some wiring that was meant to cause the furnace to fail in the future, thus making them more money when they returned to fix a problem they created. Chicagoland Air Duct did not charge me extra for the additional time required and they even threw in a free tune up to make doubly sure our older furnace would be in good shape for the future. I cannot overstate how friendly and helpful both the techs that came were; not something I necessarily considered as a requirement when finding a duct cleaning service, but it certainly made the entire process much more enjoyable, especially considering they were very friendly with my curious 5 year old.
