E.M. studio salon was amazing. I usually go to Great Clips, but decided to venture out a little bit. Their haircuts come with a shampoo with head massage, a neck massage, and hair styled after the cut. Sam did a fantastic job on my haircut. She took the time to make sure it was cut how I wanted it. I've been to EM Studio Salon twice now and I was treated very well both times. I got my eye brows waxed by Ashley and they looked great. Today I got my hair cut by Kylie and she did a wonderful job. This review is strictly for the retail side as I have never been here for a hair cut. The salon is really nice inside, friendly service, and I'm sure all of the stylists do a great job. I came here to buy Davines products. I've been to countless Davines salons throughout the country as I am constantly traveling and the product prices have always been identical. Always. It is my understanding that these prices are set directly by Davines and you can buy them from the Davines website for these prices. I was surprised to find the prices to be higher here than the Davines retail price. I asked about this and was told that the increase was to account for shipping. I've never been to a retailer where I expected to pay for shipping costs to the store. Again, Davines sets these prices and the price has been exactly the same for 100% of the stores I've been to except this one. On top of that, if you buy directly from Davines and spend over $75 you get free shipping so it's hard to believe the shipping increase reasoning. At any rate, I drove over to the next nearest Davines salon and bought from them for the regular price. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I had been going to this salon for years. The last time I went in it took their stylist 4 separate attempts to finally do a very popular and basic ombré hairstyle. My hair was completely natural and had never been colored before. I had to spend 8+ hours getting my hair horribly damaged, even though they "assured" me that my hair would be fine, to have the mess they created fixed. Now, my hair is very brittle. When I asked for a refund the owner ignored me and was extremely rude. When I finally was able to get her to communicate (due to sitting in the salon and waiting for her) with me she told me "You have to think about the level of stylist you chose. You paid for what you got. If you want your money back we are going to ask you to find a different salon. So, do you want your money back or?". Very unprofessional. I'm most disappointed with them because I had been a loyal customer with them for 3+ years and that meant nothing to them. I will never go back. I would highly recommend NEVER going to this salon. They're cheaper than other places for a reason. If you care about your hair at all RUN from this place. read more

Love it here. I've had to break up with many a salon. But e.m. is wonderful. The products, service, friendliness, and expertise is great. The stylists to tons of classes and move up in rank. This means every so often your prices increase if you're loyal to your stylist. I'm loyal to mine...Bri is great. I'm thrilled for her when she advances. No tip salon which makes it super easy. It is a beautiful salon. The stylist didn't do what I asked. I hate hair in my eyes and the style she gave me constantly fell in my eyes! It did look great in the salon though. However, I was never able to recreate the look out of the salon. I told them that I am not really good with hair and need a style that is pretty much "wash'n'go". I have had 3 appointments with e.m studio and I am not a satisfied customer. First time I went the stylist first tried to talk me into all kinds a extra things. I became concerned when she had to refill the color 3 times because she didn't make enough. I worried that each time she did that the color would not be the same. It turned out ok but not great, it covered the gray so I was ok with it. The hair cut (which is extra) was not good. When I got home I could see long strands, short strands, longer on one side, crooked. All in all the cut was bad. I decided to go back a second time thinking maybe it would be better. Same thing had to refill color twice, and the cut was terrible (or should I say trim) she only trimmed a little and yet I was charged the full $35.00. When she was through I mentioned that the roots did not cover very well and she blamed it on the lighting. But once again when I got home you could tell that the gray did not color. I called and they offered a redo. I mentioned that the hair cut wasn't very good either. Once again she had to refill the color 2 times, it did cover the gray, but she explained that the hair cut would cost me more because that wasn't part of the redo. Because it looked bad I went ahead and had her cut it differently (since I had to pay again) but told her the back was short enough not to cut it any shorter. However, she cut it so short before I could say anything that now it looks like a man's haircut. It is awful. I emailed them about my dissatisfaction and the only response was an email with a coupon off a man's haircut. Talk about adding insult to injury. I will not go back. The customer service/satisfaction is bad, the coloring and haircutting is bad and they are way too expensive. Oh if you like cute shops, well you'll like this place but that's all. read more

I have had many high-end stylists and salon experiences in Indy- mostly downtown and Broadripple. When it was time for a new stylist, I never even considered anywhere near where I actually live. That is until I walked by after a dentist appointment. I decided to give it a try, and a few years later my hair has never looked better. Sasha is my stylist, she is amazing-- perfect mix of entertaining but not chatty and informative but not pushy. My hair looks healthy, the cut and color look great and she has helpful suggestions. I have been very pleased, also the atmosphere and professionalism is noticeably a focus for them. If you like salon drama, this is not your place- but if you like a good service, nice products and a pleasant atmosphere em is a must. read more

I have been looking for a good salon for a long time, and found a great one right here in Brownsburg! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was charming. I was very relaxed by the scalp and neck massage that I received during my shampoo, and the products they use smell amazing! Nicole did a great job correcting a poor cut that I had received at another salon. When she was done, I liked the way she styled it so much that I didn't even redo it myself when I got home. :). Had an appointment set up for my 16 year old with Mady on a referral I got. It was a spot that had opened due to a cancellation. My daughter went alone and upon arrival discovered that there was a mistake in scheduling. Mady was not available and they worked it out to have her with a newer stylist named Sydney. Sydney was not 100% out of her apprenticeship and does not usually do solo clients. The person in the chair next to my daughter even said, "Oh, you are on your own now" and Sydney responded, "just for today"--EEK! Didn't give my daughter a good feeling. Well, I kinda freaked out and was upset that my daughter was with a completely different person than I booked and someone who was not even doing her own clients yet. I was not pleasant on the phone with the managers and it wasn't a very constructive conversation. It ended with the manager/owner telling me not to come back into their salon and hung up on me. BUT, she stuck a chord. She told me I would feel stupid when my daughter came home with great hair and happy. Sure enough...my daughter ended up with great hair and happy. She plans to go back to see Sydney. Still not sure if I'm allowed in the door, but overall they did their best to turn a bad situation into a good experience for her. I should not have butted in. We highly recommend Sydney once she is fully accepting new clients! read more
