Ocean City is packed with mini golf options, and some look cooler than others. We only golfed once during our week and chose Embers Island. Nice location, walkable from many hotels, plus two full size 18 hole courses. That means that even when it's busy, it doesn't feel too crowded. The holes themselves were fun. Nothing too fancy or wild, but they did have some trick-shot greens, tunnels, and other slopes to keep you thinking. I even scored one hole in one! In the middle of the property is a big volcano. Probably twice an hour, it lights up, rumbles... but no worries. Nothing will erupt on you! Hot tip: Look for their coupon either in a local coupon book or on their social media page. They also match competitor coupons. We found a Buy 3, Get 1 Free deal, which was great for a family of four. Overall, this was a fun way to spend some time together without feeling like we were packed onto a mini golf course with everyone else. There are plenty of options in Ocean City, but Embers Island worked out ok for us. I might just try another next time. read more

Good overall. They accepted a competitor's coupon, which brought the price to $11/golfer. The course's obstacles were all topographical (as in hills, not windmills). I found it mostly easy to make par, but not so easy that it wasn't fun. The front desk people didn't have a helpful attitude (E.g. I asked if they had a bathroom, was told "yes," silence, and then I had to ask where it was to find out where it was). But we still had a great time. There are two courses, which are not clearly marked at the beginnings, but once you get on one you'll naturally follow that one until the end. The "volcano" is really just a "mountain" with waterfalls, no "lava." read more

My family and I had a great time here. The prices were reasonable, it was not super crowded, and the facility was really nice. My daughter (age 4) and my son (age 7) hadn't ever played before, so they recommended the flatter of the two courses. My kids had a blast and so did my wife and I. Embers Island has a decent parking lot and offers two different 18 hole courses. My family and I opted for the pirate course as we have two younger kids and the flatter course made it a bit easier. I thought it was well maintained and nice. The young girl at the desk was super nice and friendly when we walked in. The courses (there are two) are fine, but there are large speakers all over the course blaring 70s and 80s music so loud that my Apple Watch warned me about the decibel level on several holes. We ended up playing both courses (you get a discount on second play) Volcano course was top course, lots of "moguls" and decent layouts. This spot is pretty nice. It looks like all the greens are brand new for this season possibly and nicely landscaped. It's clean. No trash or other debris. Two options for $10/person. The pirates or the volcano. I chose pirates based on a review that the area is flat which is perfect for kids. Volcanos contains more hills which is best for a group of adults. We had a great time. For Covid, if you're with your family you don't need the mask on while outside. But if you're around larger groups it's best you wear one to keep yourself safe. Indoors to pay mask is required. And at the end of the game you place your clubs in a bin to be cleaned. I would recommend this location open one of the side gates as an exit once you're round is up. Circle around for a second round and pay or just exit safely through the outside. read more

They took 20 extra dollars from me bc of a counting error and refused to give me back my money. I give them 80$ for 3 people and it was 10 dollars a person and they only give us 30 dollars back until I draw it out on a piece of paper for them, but then they mess up again and give me 10 dollars instead of the right amount which is 20 dollars. They took my name and number and they said they would call me back after they count the money but it's been a WEEK when they said it was going to be the SAME DAY! My son picked this place out based on traveler pictures and we had a great time! The location is walkable from certain hotels on the boardwalk and is pretty affordable at $10 per person. There are 2 courses...the Pirate is a flatter course but more challenging, and the Volcano course is easier but with more hills. Very well-maintained course with newly carpeted holes. My family has played here 5 times in the past eight days. It is one of the nicest courses in the area. The service is efficient and friendly. Two eighteen hole courses are available. Almost all if the features are running with the exception of the pirate battle which is down for repairs at the moment. It is a nice course for young and old with plenty of challenging hole placements and a few easier ones to keep all engaged. The walkways are nicely done and the landscaping is well thought out. I'm a bit torn on how to review this place. First, I'll start with the positives. Has two separate 18 hole courses. We played the volcano course. Good course, challenging, and well maintained. When we got there realized the place is cash, and cost over $9 per person. I paid cash for 5 people, and literally less than 30 seconds after I paid the lady at the counter, I realized that I had a 15% off coupon that I forgot to use. I was told by the same lady that had not even taken another customer yet that "it was too late to use my coupon, but keep the coupon because it never expires". I literally didn't have the change in my wallet yet from our transaction. The course I give 4 stars, but the customer service is 0 stars. read more

We have been to this coarse many times and always find it challenging. However, this time it seemed fairly run down. The water traps were not filled with water (maybe due to Covid??) and we weren't sure if they were cleaning the balls and clubs. We tried to Pirate coarse. This is likely the best miniature golf course in Ocean City. The greens are in great shape, and the two courses are challenging, but fun at the same time. We played the volcano course and had a great time. As of June 2019, they have said they accept competitors' coupons as well. read more

It's minigolf! Of course it was fun, but this particular one was fairly boring. I did the pirate course, which left much pillaging and plundering to be desired. We went here last night to play a round of golf. We got in and paid quickly and right into our game. The course was very large it had three separate 18 hole games which is pretty large. It was a bit pricey at $10 a person but I don't have any other places I can compare that too. But all in all it was a creative course and was a bit challenging for mini golf which helped it to be competitive and fun for everyone. Be prepared to wait. Even on a hot and steamy Monday night, there was a trillion families here playing mini golf. If you see a family of 6 ahead of you, maybe you should sit on the side a relax a bit. Enough complaining, the course is pretty well maintained. This mini golf course was clean and well-kept up and quite interesting despite our being confused about it having two courses (one the Pirate course and the other the Volcano course). The holes were fairly interesting but not dramatic. We liked the several holes that had basin areas around them so you weren't wasting your time trying to get a ball into a hole that had uneven mounds around it. The "grass" seemed new but we couldn't see where the net was to rescue balls from all the water features (fortunately we didn't need it!). We were here on a Friday morning so there was no one else there until about an hour later as we left. There is parking, a soda machine and an ice cream fridge ($2.50 each). Average cost for Ocean City, $10 each. My two teens and hubby gave this mini golf course between a 3 and 4 stars. I'd say a solid 3. It was clean. We did the pirate course but there really wasn't anything pirate about it and although it was 18 holes they were not terribly challenging even though the staff recommended it since we had the option to do the volcano course. OCMD has a plethora of mini-golf courses to choose from, all along the main street. It's tough to decide! You can choose from dinosaur themed mini- golf to alien theme to pirates, you name it! Personally my family and I like to play mini-golf at least once, if not more times, during our beach vacations and we enjoy playing at night, after dinner when it's not so hot outside. Everyone for the most part, has the same idea because I've found these courses to be busier in the hours after 8:00pm even past 11:00pm. Most courses stay open at least until midnight and some until 1:00am!! We chose Embers out of proximity to our dinner location (at Blu) and also we had received a 15% off coupon form the restaurant to play at Embers. You could select from two courses at Embers- the private or the volcano. We chose the latter and weren't too impressed with the course itself. The holes were somewhat challenging but there weren't any bells and whistles like some other courses we've been. For example, we might have expected one of the artificial volcanos to erupt or blow smoke or something. There wasn't any special effects, except super loud music playing. A good mix of tunes but when rock songs played it was exceptionally loud. Also, if you're unlucky and your ball lands in the water, it's tough to find your way back to the main office to obtain a replacement ball. There's not "emergency exit" once you've started the course and you can't simply walk through other people's games on the green. Overall it was a nice night for my daughters and I to play mini golf tonight, so I recommend it, however if you want the bells and whistles / special effectives for a better experience than this wouldn't be the course you'd choose. read more

Embers Island, ahhhh where do I begin. First off the place really needs to touch up on some holes as the green is a little messed up in areas. Another thing is GOOD LUCK if you are playing around 11-12 o clock because the place barely has a any lighting making some shots and putts difficult to line up. Another thing is the hole and their layouts, these holes really just get repetitive after the front 9 especially the volcano course. (Play the pirate course it is 100 times better than the lame volcano course that their staff insists on playing) The only things Embers has that others seem to not have is the scenery and the interactive audio the course holds, and the quality of their greens. All in all if you have to play on embers enjoy some boring holes that could be made a hell lot better than what they are. read more
