Her methodology and approach in explaining the dogs mind and way of thinking after carefully analyzing them during training is by far the best I have seen. Every question gets answered in a well explained way and provides useful tools and instructions for your own personal downtime/follow up training with your dog after the session. We adopted Ahsoka (Belgian Malinois-German Shepard mix) at 4 months of age from a no kill rescue and found out that day there were many issues needing to be addressed - diet, confidence, and just learning how to be a dog. After reaching out, Tanja was quick to respond and set up a complimentary home visit to meet Ahsoka. Tanja built a level of comfort with Ahsoka during that initial visit and showed me immediately how to handle and respond to Ahsoka in order to stop her nervous behavior and acting out (in addition to how to help Ahsoka in diet and nutrition and get the explosive diarrhea under control, getting in and out of the car and taking short rides without the constant vomiting, and next-steps for being in the presence of other humans and their pets without the crazy barking and fear behaviors). When Tanja left, I felt hope again. We have been training with Tanja once a week since the initial visit and have learned so much already. Ahsoka is now going to public places and showing everyone what a sweet girl she really is! Currently, we have her in the 1-week Board-n-Train and were so thrilled to see her attempting play with other dogs for the first time. What an awesome moment to see Ahsoka getting to just be a dog. It has been such a great experience for our family and Ahsoka. She has been able to learn how to become more confident and we are learning how to manage her energy. Hands down I would recommend AZ K9 Academy to anyone who needs to find a great trainer. AZ K9 Academy is well informed, efficient and very professional at this craft. We have a 10-month-old dog that we believed would benefit from having a "professional" assist us…read morewith teaching proper commands, walking on a leash, etc. We wanted the training to be personal (not a group setting) and done in our home. We contacted AZ K9 Academy and Jennifer was available to provide the training. The cost was a bit steep - $496.80 for 4, one-hour sessions - but we felt we would have greater outcomes with personal training, so we booked it. On a positive note, Jennifer was always on time, prepared, pleasant and we trained the entire hour. We learned some basic tools to better assist our pup with walks, being around other dogs, etc. It was during the second training session that things went south. Jennifer wanted to try a collar that she could electronically "buzz" (vibrate) in order to get our pup's attention. We permitted it and with the first buzz, our pup became frantic and was clearly afraid of the buzz. Jennifer said this was "normal" for some pups the first time they feel the vibration. However, with each buzz, things only got worse, so we asked her to stop (she did) and we did our best to end the training on a positive note for our pup (giving her the command to sit, then down and she was rewarded.) The following week, we could not get our pup near the living room (where she had been "buzzed"). When Jennifer came the 3rd and 4th weeks, our pup was clearly afraid of her and was reluctant to do anything near her or with her. Essentially, we lost 2 to 3 weeks of training because of this incident. So we paid a lot of money and got very little training (due to our pup being afraid of Jennifer when she used the buzz collar). Bottom line - we know every pup reacts differently to various situations and when this occurred with our pup, we perhaps felt that AZ K9 Academy should have offered at least one additional week of training to compensate for the lost training days.

The training we received from you was instrumental in helping us in keeping our two boys safe. Your training was not for them, but for us. Capone and Pawlie appear much happier now, much more responsive, and Jodi and I are much more confident in our abilities. When our boys started becoming aggressive with each other, it broke our hearts. We had so much happening in our lives, we had forgotten that we project on to our kids. She welcomed not one, but TWO euth listed Dogo Argentinos into her to help decompress, train and build up. We have also boarded 2 of our dogs with Top Dog at their Tempe location and had great experiences. The staff send photos and give updates and the dogs are always happy during their stay. I took off one star because I am super disappointed that Top Dog no longer has a Gilbert location for training (this has been a very recent change) and it is unlikely we will continue using them for training because it is a 20-30 minute one way drive to Tempe whereas the Gilbert location was 5 minutes from our home.

Beyond pleased with what they taught her in 4 short weeks. No way I could have made that kind of progress on my own.
