    Arlo in training.

Ricardo and team has done and are still doing an Amazing job working with Arlo and his training on resources guarding.

Writing as the foster parents to Steele. These views only reflect our experience and are not to be considered those of the rescue. TL;DR: Ricardo bailed on us twice for in person training at the last minute and was unprofessional in his communication. During board and train (B&T), Steele was unnecessarily made to wear a muzzle 24/7 despite never needing that ever before. Because of the discomfort and anxiety, he continuously tried to get the muzzle off causing abrasions on his snout. While CharlieBar did mention these to us on the 4th day of B&T, the pictures they sent us initially seemed to try to hide the issue. Even with the injuries, they did not want us to pull him for medical attention and had no plan to prevent the injuries from getting worse. Do not recommend them due to unprofessional and shady behavior. May have once been a good company, but feel they are greedy and overcommitted now. As background, we sought training for Steele due to a bite while being taken in as a stray by county, and due to resource guarding of food, toys, and dog beds. He is very loving once he starts to trust, but you can tell there are some habits from being a stray that need to be worked on. At home and on walks in our neighborhood, he does not have to wear a muzzle and is completely fine with other dogs, our cat, and people as long as you are patient and do not touch the items that are normal concerns for dogs with resource guarding. After his time on the streets, you can tell he just wants companionship and often comes up to you tail wagging and nuzzling your hand or arm to be pet. While we have fostered him relatively easily without any additional training beyond our basic abilities ("no", sit, taking treats gently, going into his crate on his own) we wanted to work on the resource guarding to help his future adopters transition more easily. We had heard about CharlieBar due to many recommendations and watching the videos posted on Facebook showed some amazing transformations. We initially were signed up for in person training however Ricardo bailed on us at the last second two separate times after making appointments. The first time he simply slept in too late and would not move anything around in his schedule to make the session work. We had gone through a lot of efforts moving our other dogs to family and friends' houses for the day so that Steele could have a focused training environment which made the flakey reason for canceling especially frustrating. However, we rescheduled three days later and were okay with it being less than a week. The day before he sent an odd text asking if we were still on for the following day even though we had sent nothing to him first and not given any indication that the rescheduled appointment wouldn't work. While we won't know if he ever intended to keep the appointment, that text seems to suggest not and the next day we were first asked to delay 30 minutes because "sh*t going on at facility" and then were canceled on again. While the situation did prove to be something that needed to be addressed, this should have been the sign not to eventually do B&T, for both working with someone who would communicate the cancelations the way they did and for the unprofessional attitude towards their own staff. The situation being addressed was a bite at the B&T and while that is a good reason to cancel, the tone towards his staff was disparaging, simply saying "girl got bit", "she is crying and stuff. Newbs..." and proceeded to send us a picture of his associate's injury. At this point we were done moving our schedules around to accommodate someone who didn't have their situation together and did not reschedule. [continued in pictures. Yelp uploading in order of file size and messing up text sequence, but pictures numbered for reference]

We brought our dog to Charlie Bar and we were very happy with the way they had attention to detail. They would keep us updated daily on the dogs progress as well as training pictures and all the pups having a great time playing with one another. Our dog got a bath before we picked him up and was very much so taken care of. I would highly recommend Ricardo and his company to anyone looking for obedience training. Oh and did I mention he makes house calls as well. Give them a call if you're in need of training.

(I thought since the reviews were perfect, they might come thru... but instead... nada!) We were considering giving them a pet sitting job for over a month in length. But unfortunately they can't be reached via the phone. I left a vm and waited an entire week and got no call back. Backstory: Ironically I believe there's someone named Shauna who operates the website and Yelp(and does a prompt job responding), but John the caretaker is the one who's phone number is associated with the biz, and he is unable to be reached to line up appointments!! (I contacted them a year or two ago when we were considering using them. We didn't end up needing them, but when we tried them last week when we finally did, John did not decide to call us back.) I'm glad others have good experiences. But that was not ours. ‍

But once we met John and Shauna, the owners, we quickly realized our fur babies were in the best hands possible. They were not only warm and welcoming but also incredibly professional. If you're a pet owner looking for a true 10-out-of-10 service, this is the company. Our pet sitter, Karen, was nothing short of amazing--so loving, so attentive, and so patient with our very needy black cat, Jax. She didn't just stop by; she stayed, hung out, and genuinely spent time with him. And even though our gray cat, Dolce, didn't come out very much, she was just as incredible in caring for her and making sure she felt safe and comfortable. Wow... just wow! We were floored by her love for animals. THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking such great care of the fur babies we love dearly. I would recommend this company to absolutely anyone. And honestly, anyone leaving anything less than a five-star review? Shame on you! These people love animals and treat your pets as if they were their own. Amazing, amazing, amazing! You'll always be our go-to whenever my wife and I take a vacation.

I always worried about leaving town and could not wait to get home even though our neighbors would stop in to check on our dog while we were away. Not any more now that we can count on Sabrina. From the very beginning when she sends you the questionnaire that includes all sorts of detailed questions so that nothing will be missing in case of need to the text message she requests and responds to once you've arrived home we know that leaving our dog in her care is something we can do without the slightest concern. When we are out of town she visits twice per day, walking Chili our lab/pit girl, and even taking her to the dog park! We joke that Chili likes it when we go out of town because she enjoys her visits from Sabrina so much! Sabrina is very knowledgeable about dogs as well. When Chili developed a strange skin problem that was not responding to anything from the vet Sabrina recommended adding an item from the kitchen pantry to Chili's diet and now about 2 months later the skin problem is gone. Sabrina is absolutely reliable, extremely organized and professional, very responsive to emails and texts, and just in general is an uncommon and highly valuable resource. I just don't encounter many people out there in the world who are as reliable and committed to their work as Sabrina. When we return home from a 2+ week vacation Chili is calm and happy. Not sure what else we could hope for...other than to be able to take Chili with us everywhere. In the meantime, Sabrina is a terrific resource, and we are very thankful to have found her. Thank you, Sabrina!

She was food aggressive, she was aggressive with our family - bit all of us at least once - attacked our other two dogs and literally went to the bathroom wherever she preferred. We decided that if we were going to work with one of our dogs - we'd also work with our other naughty dog to retrain him of his bad habits. IN THE FIRST SESSION we saw significant changes in their behavior! She is so knowledgeable, so professional, and she got my kids involved so they know what to do! We just finished our last session and I'm so grateful to her for all of the tools she's given our family to help our dogs be the best behaved versions of themselves! The team also sent photo updates and left detailed report cards every single day without fail. Lindsey herself is such a boss when it comes to training and is so so patient and welcoming. Since that time three years ago, we have been coming here with our other pug pets that we have adopted- not only for food, but for their veterinarian needs as well. The second time was in seeing the hospitals doctor whom "come to find out" was actually the owner! It was a professional & pleasant experience for our senior pug Mo. We've been back now numerous times for checkups and vaccine's visits with our newest addition Marvel and we have had nothing but knowledgeable, kind and helpful staff. Every visit has been very positive for our fury babies and they have been treated so well by all the employees. Note-They do have a long wait list so make sure you call way in advance to get an appointment. If it's an emergency for their hospital they do not have the ability to get your pet seen right away unless you "luck out" and there's a cancellation, but the odds of that happening are very slim. There is not an immediate "emergency" services hospital available here. Store-There's a nice shop adjacent to the hospital that offers many different types of pet products for every type of pet, Including treats, toys and healthcare merchandise to explore. They have a grooming salon, pet boarding and pet adoption program offered here too! Recommend- Highly suggest getting on their monthly newsletter which is sent via email. They send out detailed information to inform customers of their happenings. They also provide deals on their products & promotions so sign up for with their rewards program. This will be helpful if you are constantly seeming to purchase pet food (dry) like we do! If so, this just might bring you a free bag after you hit a certain quality! She visited ahead of time to meet our cat and assuaged all of our fears within a few seconds. Our cat has a really hard time trusting humans who are not my husband and myself. She is friendly enough when first greeting someone, but she will not let other people pick her up or come running up to them until trust is built. Not with Cheryl. Cheryl is one of those people who really has a special connection with animals. I was amazed at how quickly Biscuit just came up to her and let Cheryl get close and asked for affection from her. The entire time we were away Cheryl sent us updates every day, with pictures. It really helped me feel better about leaving her alone. Cheryl would even do little things like turn the fan off in a certain room so the cat could get warmer (As she thought it would be more comfortable for her). And she asked to put on some ambient noise for the cat so that it wasn't so quiet in the time between visits. She even sat down with Biscuit and enjoyed her lunches with our cat while visiting, sometimes watching videos of birds with her to get biscuit interested. :) Working with Cheryl was easy, and honestly the best person we could have possibly wound up with. We lucked out finding her I think... I mean sure Rover has options, but none of the sitters seem to focus on cats (solely or primarily). It was important to us that we found someone who could give Biscuit her pills. We did not expect to find someone who could give our cat her pills, and who would gain her trust in such a short period of time. We love Cheryl and are forever grateful for her having looked after our cat during our honeymoon. If she weren't volunteering in Colorado over the next few months, I'd have her look after Biscuit again! Thank you so much Cheryl, from the bottom of our hearts (K, Sean and Biscuit).

I approached my search wearily and was careful who I chose to drop in to check on my animals while away on a trip. As I inquired with Cheryl about using her services, she was very warm & friendly. She was approachable with questions, and was an excellent communicator. After our initial conversation about dates and services needed, She scheduled a meet-up with me and my wife at home before we booked anything with her so she could get to know our animals, and communicate with us first-hand about exactly what we needed from her. The meet-up was important, as we got to know each other and I got a feel for her background. She is a semi-retired professional and has decades worth of experience with ALL KINDS of animals. As we gave her a tour and explained exactly what we needed, she took a copious amount of detailed notes: referencing where everything was located, what exact steps were required to feed/water/ clean, areas to avoid in the house, off limit areas for the animals, and even which exact key words served our animals for commands or companionship. While we were away, Cheryl helped clean, feed, water, and spend time with our 2 cats and crested gecko. Every time she came in, she took pictures or videos to keep us updated on how they're doing that day. It was nice to see her interacting with our lonely fur & scale babies and our our minds were out at at ease that they were in good hands. She also helped bring our mail in and make sure things were tidy around the house, assisting with messes the animals may have caused. Recently over Christmas, we had severe winter storm Elliot slam into a majority of the country. Because of this, thousands and thousands of flights were completely cancelled. My flight back home to AZ from CA was no exemption. After reaching out to Cheryl and explaining the last minute situation, she was easily able to fit checking-in on my house and was VERY accommodating! Of all the stresses of being stranded away from home, not exactly sure how long of a wait to get back home, she was such a huge blessing for me to at least not to have to worry about my animals! Cheryl is the exact kind of friendly person you want to have in your house, loving your animals while you are away. She is very people savvy, animal savvy, smart, well organized, and most of all dependable!
