I hired Imperial Remodels to build a single-car garage on my property, replacing an existing concrete pad. The project was contracted to start on March 1, 2024, and finish by April 1, 2024, for $21,000. I paid a $10,000 cash deposit on March 13, 2024, but the contractor did not provide a receipt for the cash deposit. After signing the contract and accepting my deposit, the contractor told me someone would begin removing the concrete pad within about a week. Shortly after, someone arrived with an excavator, destroyed, and removed the concrete pad. They left behind an uneven dirt surface, which has created a serious safety hazard for me. Due to mobility issues, I now struggle to safely get in and out of my car. Despite repeated attempts to contact the contractor to discuss next steps and complete the work, he has ignored all my calls and messages. On one occasion, he agreed to visit my property to discuss the project but canceled the meeting and never followed up. My daughter attempted to help me by posting a review on their business page to warn others. In response, the business owner finally reached out, acknowledged their wrongdoing, and agreed to reimburse me the full deposit plus interest. However, they got Yelp to remove my daughter's post and are unreachable again. They have still not provided any reimbursement for the lost money or the destruction of my property. I was primarily in contact with Mike Isak (206-909-8125), but his colleague, Karina Momotyuk, was also involved. Another phone number associated with them is (253-409-6956). As a result, I am out my $10,000 deposit, unable to safely park my car, and left with no resolution. He has abandoned this job, caused destruction of my property, and has a complete lack of remorse or professionalism--particularly in taking advantage of someone in my position. Not only could they not stick within the timeline, but they did things so bass-ackwards that the new contractor had to redo so much of what I had been billed and paid for... for instance, before rebuilding the wall, they set the trusses. The trusses were set crooked and a couple were set backwards. Two of them broke because of the stress of being wrongly installed. They billed for full demolition, but did not complete it. They billed for clearing the crawl space and laying plastic, but it was not done. They used 2x4 for an exterior wall when code is 2'6. I could go on and on, but the biggest of all their mistakes was that they have a $30K installment that has not been used and claim they don't have to refund me. There is a lawsuit in the works. Better Business Bureau is involved. The state attorney General is aware, and waiting on others to let them know of the deceitful practices. He threatened to sue me if I gave a negative review, but the truth is something he can't defend against... His response to my complaint with the BBB: " on Thursday, July 13, 2023 The Contractor and Mrs. Johnson entered into a contract for the Contractor to provide services. The contract included a clause that stated that the entire contract amount would become due if the client stopped, slowed, hindered, or in any way prohibited the Contractor from providing work or fulfilling the Contractor's obligations. Mrs. Johnson violated this clause by refusing to provide access to the worksite, failing to provide timely approvals, making unreasonable demands, and requesting to separate from further services from the contractor. As a result, the Contractor was unable to complete the work and suffered significant financial losses. The Contractor's attorneys have reviewed the facts of the case and believe that Mrs. Johnson has violated the contract. They are currently gathering the necessary information and will be responding to Mrs. Johnson shortly with a more detailed account of the client's violations. In addition to the contract amount, the Contractor will also be filing separate lawsuits for each instance of inaccurate and negative reviews found on social media sites and government agencies. These reviews are highly inaccurate and blatantly misleading, and they could have a significant negative impact on the Contractor's business. Josh was our point of contact. His first visit was checking out the scope of the project. He assessed the project would take about a day and a half and we agreed to have him perform the job. The first day was pretty straightforward. I'd check in every so often to make sure things were going well. By the end of the project, Josh had gone through 2 1/2 cans of wasp killer. We should have taken care of that earlier, but family issues put it to the back burner. Thankfully, he made sure things were safe before beginning work near the roof. Early in the second day, Josh had finished up. He returned later to touch base with us and do a final walk around of his work.
