My friend and I walked over to Emerald City Smoothie in Downtown Bellevue after doing barre class nearby. This was my first time at Emerald City Smoothie in ten years and my first time at the Downtown Bellevue location. The interior is fairly small with only a few tables to sit/stand at and so it's mostly a takeout place rather than a place to meet with friends. Emerald City Smoothie has a wide menu and categorize their menu into five categories based on health goals: "Boost My Immune System", "Help Me Lose Weight", "Go Green", "Bulk Me Up" and "Nourish My Body". They also have a menu just for "Boosters" which cost extra and include everything from antioxidants to bees pollen to creatine and fat burner. Lastly, they have a Secret Menu which includes Banana Creme Pie, Matcha Green Tea, Maui Paradise, Mountain Berry Blast, Orange Creamsicle, Piña Colada, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm pretty sure their secret menu is just drinks that don't fit into the other categories (or ran out of room for), because they had these same drinks on their menu ten years ago. I ordered the MATCHA GREEN TEA (16-oz) off the secret menu. This smoothie has soy milk, matcha, non-fat milk, and whey. For $7.44 (including tax), this was pretty pricey for a "healthified" matcha Frappucinno. They obviously don't use high quality matcha as the matcha color was on the yellow side and the taste was quite diluted and bland. It mostly just tasted like sugary blended milk with little to no matcha flavor; I was honestly disappointed, but drank it anyway. My friend got her favorite NUTTY BANANA (sub vegan protein) which has banana, peanut butter, protein, and nonfat milk, which is probably what I should've gotten instead. She also ordered a PB&J and MANGO MANIA for her family members which are also supposed to be decent. Lesson learned, stick with the fruit smoothies. Service was good- the baristas are friendly and efficient and we got our drinks within 10 minutes after ordering. Overall: 2/5 for drinks, 4/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere read more

I came here after a hot yoga class and usually a smoothie is perfect after a class but today's tasted disappointing. I got the tropical paradise and there was an odd aftertaste. I've given this place a try 3 times when going with other people and I have tried different smoothies each time, and I didn't not like the taste of any of them. My husband and I came on a Saturday afternoon, after finishing working out together in the morning where it wasn't really busy. I got a 32 oz "Slim N Fit" with mango flavor and my husband got a 32 oz "Lean Out" with chocolate flavor. My Slim N Fit tasted good while my husband said his had a little too much peanut butter. Been a consistent customer for years here, and was generally 4 stars. My primary go-to is the Low Carb Peanut smoothie, absolutely delicious. Through the years, there seems to be a high employee turnover rate here. It could be a number of reasons that I can't confirm, maybe the pay, maybe the age of the employees (most of them hs), overworked or something. The past 6 months morale seems to be dropping, some of them are friendly, some of them just have no sense of smile or have a great day attitude. I guess thats fine as long as the product was consistent and it was. However the last 3 months, more chunks of ice have been apparent, I kept giving chances because I always give the benefit of the doubt, but you can only do that while paying the same money as the product satisfaction drops. Last 4x in a row, the chunks of ice are in the smoothies. I don't know blenders well, but maybe the blenders are getting old? Anyways, this review is primarily for the owner (who is pleasant) that she needs to fix the ice chunk problem. Gonna take a break from this place for a bit, and hope the issue is fixed. read more

I wanted to support a local business, so I bypassed loads of options to head to Emerald City Smoothie... It was the absolute worst smoothie bowl I've ever had in my life. With such basic ingredients, I didn't think it possible to mess up a smoothie bowl. Sure, there's different blends and consistencies, but overall it's pretty standard right? Well Emerald City proved me wrong. What they gave me was icy (literal chunks of ice that one could chew) akin to a slurpie from 7-11 or the icee polar bear drink you find in movie theaters. Now, top that fruity watery ice off with granola, coconut flakes, and goji berry... I tried to eat the toppings, but there was no saving this wreck, everything was soggy and icy. My fuel for two months when we first moved to Bellevue from San Diego was this place. I was literally have two smoothies from them every day while I am still unpacking, dealing with covid and after. I have been ordering from them since late June of 2022 and still enjoying it. So yummy and I love how you can make your own smoothie. ECS is by far the best smoothie place I've ever gotten my smoothies from. Quite affordable with delicious and nutritious smoothies I might add. My favorite on the menu is the Chocolate Lean Out because it has the most protein for my money and just pure delicious. However, in the many, many, many times I've been to this location, I have never gotten a consistent taste and/or consistency on my smoothie. I work in Bellevue so most of the time I go to lunch, I walk here and I have no other choice since this is the only location in the city. Now, I have been to a lot of locations around Washington and I just have to say, this is the worst location I've ever gotten a Lean Out from. One star just for that but I'll add one more just because the workers here are friendly. Like I said, I've never gotten a consistent smoothie from this location, ever. I've probably only gotten a good one once and I greatly appreciated that. Other than that, I just feel like I'm wasting my money every time I come here. Lean Out: banana, whey protein, peanut butter, milk. Really just the basics. The last one I had last week was by far the worst. As a matter of fact, it only tasted like milk, ice, and chocolate whey protein. What happened to the banana and peanut butter. Oh, and I paid extra for an extra scoop of protein. I basically paid $10 for chocolate milk so that was really disappointing. I have given this location many chances. In fact, I even encouraged my coworkers to come here for smoothies and some of them have gone in and they enjoyed what they have gotten. Personally, I don't think I'm going to come back to this location for a while. They already cleaned put away everything to make açaí and Pitaya bowls.. so bowls were not an option. When I was asking questions the music was so loud. The employee working was terrific. No complaints there. But the Acai bowl was not. The acai was over-blended. The bananas were either blended in to the acai puree or just forgotten. Typically, the bananas are sliced and added to the bowl separately. This is a brand new store and hopefully they will figure this out. But I'll pass on returning for now. read more

We came here to get a smoothie, as Emerald City Smoothie recently relocated to Park Row in downtown Bellevue. Glad to have it in the area, as it provides healthier smoothies than any other smoothie spot around. We ordered a 32oz. Mango Berry smoothie to share, which is a good size for doing so. There's also a 24oz. size option. In addition to smoothies, which you can customize to your liking, they offer acai bowls and other health products like supplements, protein powder, pre-workout mixes, etc... There was only one employee working on a Thursday late afternoon when we visited, so service was slow since there were a few customers waiting to get their smoothie. The shop here though is much better than its former downtown Bellevue location, offering more space, which allows for customers to hang out on the couch or at other seating options. I'm a fan of Emerald City Smoothie, so am glad they've reopened in downtown Bellevue. There are lots of healthy options here for smoothies, with some including whey protein or boosters. I was shocked, I'd asked for their standard berry açaí bowl and I think it was like a quart size While the size really made me laugh, the quality wasn't the best (compared to Kitanda or Jaiiya Cafe where it seems they use fresh fruits and a sweeter base), it seems the berries were defrosted and the blackberries especially were falling apart and flavorless, and the açaí blend didn't taste very fresh or sweet, but they're known for smoothies not açaí bowls right?
