    PB&J Smoothie
    Melissa K.

This was my first visit to Emerald City Smoothie. I stopped by in the evening and had the large PB&J. The fruit to peanut butter ratio was perfect. It was suggested and made by the very helpful staffer Camilla. This location is inside the LA Fitness (or the old Larry's Market for all you old time locals). Great space, I'm glad it's open to anyone regardless of club membership. You should give them a sip!

I ordered my drink via the tablet off to one side. Truth is if the staff greeted me, I very likely would have bought some pastries from their bakery case. Since I didn't have anyone to ask questions, I skipped it. Mocha Shake, 20oz, $6.99 - 4.5 Stars Each drink allows an impressive array of choices - milk type, whipped y/n, shot type, sweetness. It's almost like ordering at a bubble tea shop. The Mocha shake was pretty and yummy, even though a bit watery. It might be because I chose 2% milk. Not dinging them for that. Guaraná Antarctica Zero, ~$2.50 - 3 Stars I should have looked it up before purchasing. I was curious because the store has cases and cases of them. It is a Brazilian soda created in 1921 made from the guaraná berry native to the Amazon rainforest. There is a natural caffeine content for a mild energy boost. I actually thought the image is cherries (stupid, I know). The zero-version tasted mega-sweet. I'm sure many will like it, just not me.

We got an acai bowl, kibbe, Brazilian coffee, and cookies. We also enjoyed shopping at the attached little market full of authentic brazillian things. Very busy for 2:00 on a Saturday but very glad we stopped in!

Like you can just see and taste how important this establishment is to the owner. You can tell they care about their customers and their business! I really appreciate a good meal! I love the design of the cafe, the dishes they serve their food on, the strong flavor of everything we had. What ever it says in the title on the menu is what you actually taste. Thank you for a wonderful experience! My palette appreciates you! You get to experience the aroma of your food with every bite. It's pretty amazing. I want to try more items on the menu. I was reading the complaints about a server but I might know what is being explained. There was a server that may seem like she doesn't care but that's not the case at all I think it might be a language barrier that's all. The service was great!

I settled on the Mt Olympus toast with an extra slice of the PNW since I couldn't make up my mind. I also ordered the Belldens White Mocha, which was not overly sweet surprisingly. As I sat and ate, the place received plenty of customers who also chose to dine-in. Service was great, atmosphere was beautiful. You are expected to bus your own tables, common at small coffee shops. I street parked on the west side of the building, requiring a slight climb up the hill back to my car. It was free though, so no complaints! I would return to "work from home" or if I was in the area and looking for a cute bite. In total I paid $36, not including tip.

Ambience was warm , and seating available, but dirty tabletops. There were 2 other people who ordered before us who were sitting and waiting for their orders. I should have taken this as a sign to leave and not wait around but oh well. The first person complained their bowl was incorrect then the lady after that-- I watched as a high school looking employee just made a mess at countertop adding whip cream to her drink as that was left off apparently. She had to then ask for another bigger cup to put it in, and clean it all up herself!! I was shocked he didn't offer! She had to go get napkins and clean it up off her hands and counter herself. This was the pickup counter- so Im sure there was a rag up there just for that. She seemed really annoyed. To make matters worse, the girl behind the counter was snickering with the guy, and it was just unprofessional. Seemed like it was a lemonade stand with middle schoolers. By that point we were 10 minutes in after ordering. Not exaggerating, and no one else is behind us. I hear what seems like a latte then being made. I look at my husband like thats not what we ordered- I was just annoyed to be waiting for that long and literally by that point at the 15 minute mark, I walked away with the kids and let him pick up the drink. He said they had to remake it cause they made a latte instead of americano. Total time wasted was over 20 minutes. Witnessing the rude service behind the counter - I cant remember the last time I encountered such attitude. Will definitely not be returning here and will next time do Starbucks after a movie. At table, by fireplace. the holiday decor still had the try me button on it. The kids were kept busy with that I guess. It should be removed though and batteries added to it. It was like a poinsettia centerpiece candle.
