Plant seeds!

I'm always on the hunt for something new and unique, and you can definitely find something here. It's also the best place for gifts. As a huge tea aficionado, this place is like a trip to the candy store. Everyone should be swinging by this place instead of the tourist trap shops at Pike Place. This shop is HUGE and you can find such a wide variety of tea, spices, essential oils, and everything organic in between. Thought I already left a review but I have been coming here since they first opened. Quite the hidden gem. I love it!

I was excited to find out that Mountain Rose Herbs was opening a location in Seattle. Mountain Rose Herbs is well known in the Herbal Community. There was quite the line throughout the day of their grand opening. It was exciting to meet many other people from all over the area showing up for this event. We were welcomed in and the first 100 customers received a swag bag with MRH goods inside. The store is beautiful. Could be problematic for those that can't get around well. There are a few areas that you cannot get to if you are unable to climb stairs (2 or 3 stairs). Being that there were many there it was not easy to get around. As things calm down it should be better. The baskets that hold the bags of herbs are a little tall for the shelving and can be difficult to shop. The magnetic sample tins kept falling to the floor as people were trying to shop the herbs. They do have a few items available that you pay for by the ounce. I wish all of the herbs and spices were available to buy in your desired amount. I was a little disappointed that some of the items available at Eugene location were not available here. I did overhear them saying that some items were not in stock yet, but did not see any empty spaces on the shelves--so not sure what is not in stock, or will not be available at this location. I hope they have plans to expand their selections, especially on herbs and spices. Welcome to Washington Mountain Rose Herbs!

My husband and I recieved the Mountain Rose Journal - Issue 7 in our mailbox by mistake (previous homeowner's). The cover looked interesting enough so we both flipped through the journal. The pieces within the it were so well written and informative that we were encouraged to look up the store, which happened to be located in Downtown Seattle. A quick 25 minute drive from the Eastside led us to money well spent. Through the help of the gentleman working (did not catch his name), we were able to pick up so teas and ingredients to make some of the non-alcoholic recipes from the journal that ended up in our mailbox. We could not recommend this place enough, and would suggest that customers ask for the journal!

Ask the Community - Mountain Rose Herbs Mercantile Seattle

Can I bring in my own mason jars to put my herbs in?

Thanks so much for reaching out, Kellie! Due to safety concerns, we aren't able to allow reusable jars to be brought in. We do, however, provide complimentary recyclable paper bags for use in our bulk section. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

I have been hoping for a place like this ever since Zenith Supplies in Roosevelt closed and now my wish has come true.

Lol. If you're an empanada lover, this little hidden gem is a must-visit. It's tucked inside Pike Place Market and doubles as a small Latin grocery, stocked with sauces, spices, and other goodies from all over Latin America. Service is fast and friendly, and everything feels super authentic and homey. Just a little FYI: the yellow sauce isn't free, they charge $2 for it, so plan accordingly if you love dipping like I do! Perfect for a quick bite while exploring the market or grabbing a few specialty ingredients to take home.

It was a busy Thanksgiving weekend. They are located across the Farmers Market. Got two each of the beef and chicken empanadas. They are both tasty and delicious with lots of flavors but they are unreasonably priced at $8 a piece which wasn't stated anywhere on their menu board and only got the shock when I paid for them but the beef is made with lean ground organic beef and the chicken with organic shredded chicken breasts. Maybe that's why? I dunno, organic tends to be more expensive. Each beef or chicken empanada was garnished with onions, garlic, olives, pimientos, raisins, eggs, red & green bell peppers, some yummy spices and sauteed in olive oil and butter... that's a lot of stuff crammed in those empanadas. They also have salmon empanadas and ham and cheese empanadas. I'd probably get my empanadas elsewhere but this was the touristy Pike Place after all. Review #3615

I've driven past this spot a gazillion times and just read this specialty business has been around since 1997! Props for longevity! I stopped in yesterday (1/22/26) for three reasons: I had a Too Good To Go confectionary pickup, wanted to see their Kasama Chocolate selection, and look around after my 15-16 year hiatus. Parking along Elliott in the Interbay area is dicey due to bus lanes, parking restrictions and traffic flow. Luckily, there are a few parking slots on the south side of their building, adjacent to Holy Mountain Brewing. Walked in and was blown away at the retail layout, so much to see! The counter person (owner?) was busy with another customer. Their convo was very warm and interactive. So I slowly meandered through the store and really liked what I saw. I should have come here for useful holiday gifts. I was later checked upon inquiring whether I needed any help locating any particular item(s). Chocolates, spices, olive oils, sauces, condiments, pasta, and other specialty items that a culinarian, gourmand, or treasure seeker would fully enjoy. The retail displays are so enticing and provides a lot of inspiration. Plus ChefShop is a lot closer to me than heading to PFI on S Dearborn. I ended up having to restrain myself and selected ras el hanout and berbere spice jars and two bars of Kasama Chocolate for purchase. The latter I learned about from Instagram, much closer than having to trek to Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, BC. Plus my TGTG confectionary bag, everything found made for a successful retail visit. Terrific retail layout. Welcoming and informative customer service. With the loss of Chocolopolis further down Elliott, ChefShop is another great resource for quality chocolate varieties. Definitely, follow them via IG (@chefshopseattle) for up to date info & classes. Great to stock your pantry, find unique gifts for others, and treats for yourself. Just don't have such a long delay between visits like me. Highly recommended!

They have every spice you can imagine and lots of gourmet condiments too. The owner is friendly and they send out a very lengthy e-mail every week highlighting some of their products and providing recipes to try. The first time I came was for a fun tasting event where we got to sample some of their Mediterranean herbs and spices used on hummus. The next time I came here was for a Too Goo to Go pickup where they had a special recipe surprise bag. It came with the recipe and some of the ingredients needed to make a pasta dinner. They regularly have pickups available on Too Good to Go so that's a great way to try some of their products at a discount. The only drawback here is that the prices can be a bit steep, and sometimes items are not priced clearly so you might need to ask.
