I needed an appointment for the vet ASAP for my boy Dexter and Emerald Hills Animal Hospital were so kind and understanding. I was able to snag an appointment after a cancellation and the woman I was speaking with was so kind. I was able to bring Dexter in, brought all his papers to get him checked out. Everyone was nice to work with, although I do have some critiques. I'm only 25 years old, and I'm not used to taking My pet to the vet and seeing how much the cost is. So when I asked the veterinary technician if they can be as transparent with me as possible I was told that it wouldn't be a problem. I was also able to receive a free vet exam for being a first-time customer. Everyone I spoke with reassured me many times that it was going to be free and I would not have to pay the $89. After Dexter was examined, the only way to conclude what was really wrong with him is if we either did blood work or x-rays. They did give me an estimate and they brought in a sheet of paper with an itemized bill showing me what the cost would be. So my mom and I decided to only do blood work to really make sure he didn't have an infection or anything wrong. She again assured me that the exam was going to be free so our total bill was going to be around $500. I actually came in knowing my budget and $500 was what I expected, so we did the blood work without hesitation. He came back all clean and we were relieved. They prescribed us medications and filled it for us at their in-house Pharmacy and then we were on our way. Then it was time to pay the bill. The only thing they did, which bothered me was they yelled the amount to the entire room and said that it was going to be $569. Immediately, I explained that I would have preferred to have an itemized bill before I've paid with my credit card. She printed one out and handed it to me and immediately I saw that I was being charged for the $89 exam fee. This upset me quite a bit and I explained that she and everyone else in the office told me that we had a free exam. She acted like she didn't know and said "Let me check again with the doctor, and I'll see what I can do." Right away they removed the exam fee and my total went all the way down to $480. This was more my price range and I had no problem paying the bill. I just wanted to bring that up to everyone's attention. Do not forget to ask for an itemized bill before just handing people your credit card. Other than that they are great vet and they are all very kind. read more

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS TO CARE FOR YOUR ANIMALS. I've used Emerald Hills Animal for years as a vet, boarding facility, and for the occasional bath for my two dogs. Recently, I boarded my dogs there. Although I typically have them bathed prior to going home, I planned to do it myself this time. However, when I picked up my pups one had feces caked around his butt, urine all over his body, and mats throughout his coat. The next morning, after I attempted to wash and brush him, I met with the office manager and groomer. Instead of addressing the issue, they blamed me for the mats, claiming my dog had arrived in that condition. They suggested that this is why they recommend a bath before sending pets home. The blame and suggestion wasn't adding up. If this story doesn't deter you from using their services, please document your dog's condition before dropping them off. Ensure there is a review process in place, where both parties are aware of the condition of your pet. Know that while you're away, your pet could end up sitting in feces, covered in urine, and fully matted, and you might never know if you paid for an intensive bath. I had an emergency earlier this month with my dog. They took me right in and helped me and my pet without any hesitation. Dr. Brighi treated Roxy and has helped us in every step of the way. She has answered all of my concerns either through the phone or via email. She has also been following up with me to check on how Roxy is doing. So far Roxy is almost healed, hoping to stay that way until she finishes her treatment. She always gave me hope when everyone else was giving me the worst diagnosis. I would not trust a single word coming out of Dr. Tappers Mouth. PLease please please, go elsewhere. My dog died after a botched surgery there. They didnt even keep her for observations and had us pick her up the same day. When we took the dog back she was full of feces, dirty, smelled horrible. These people are a joke. I brought my 2 dogs because I saw a worm in their poop (very simple fix, this happened once before with another dogs over 10 years and one simple shot took care of it). I arrived in the office and was quickly placed in a room. I was given paperwork to fill out. Filled them out then my pups were taken AWAY and I was left in this room for over one hour. The Dr came in about 20 minutes later asked a few questions and said they would check the stool sample I brought in to confirm. When they FINALLY returned my dogs they came with a powder they wanted me to place in their food for three days to clear up the worm issues. For sitting there for over an hour and the only thing they did was check the dogs weight and the stool sample I was charged over $260.. Of coarse my pups refused to eat the food with the powder mixed in so still have a worm issue. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. read more

ONE YEAR AGO thanks to the negligence of this clinic our dog GUCCI A-beloved family member died. She was originally brought in because she ate sand which caused a ball in her stomach. This had to be removed surgically which cost us a lot of money. After the operation she was handed to us still drowsy and anesthetized. Instead of being kept for observation.She was not recoveri well from surgery. We started to notice her stomach was getting lumps of water/ puss. We brought her in again and we were charged for additional medication and our baby was sent home again. The symptoms kept progressing so we took her once more to the Clinic were she then was hospitalized. The following couple days we were barely able to communicate to see her status. All the Doctor said was she was going to be fine. The phone call after that was to inform us that she died unexpectedly overnight. She died alone in a cage thinking we left her. Honestly all because they just care for the money and not the well being of our pets a clinic like this should not exist. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE IF ITS AN EMERGENCY. THIS WAS THE WORST TIME OF MY LIFE. read more

A few weeks ago I took my dog here because she had diarrhea for a couple of weeks. They took a stool sample and gave me antibiotics for her. I had asked for heartworm meds and was sold the absolute most expensive ones which were about $140 MORE than what Heartguard is without giving me a choice. She still had diarrhea over two weeks later. No one bothered to call me about her test results. I will not be going back there. read more

Had been going there for years for my aging feline. Nice & friendly office staff, clean, but so busy they don't spend the appropriate time with you. When you call you are ALWAYS put on hold first. When you do see a doctor, they remove the animals from your presence, will not exam them in the room with the guardians, I was told this is so the 'owners' don't try to 2nd guess what the vet is doing, and that this is a typical practice of all vets (I never believed it). All medical care is expensive, but costs here are over the top. Vet will come to the phone and talk with you when needed for lab test reviews or questions, but it always seems rushed and incomplete. I finally decided to find a different practice where my cat was accurately diagnosed and prescribed what he needed by vets and staff that actually have the time to give appropriate care. AND our cat was examined while in the room with me so I could actually see what was going on. Apparently I'm in the minority, but I'm glad I switched to a different vet. Ultimately my cat declined rapidly and died, EHAH allowed me to return some unopened specialty cat food, but showed absolutely NO sympathy or concern for the loss of my best friend of 20 years. 3 Weeks later I got a sympathy card from them, not signed, no mention of my cat's name, just right out of the box of generic cards. I only knew who it was from via the return address sticker on the envelope. If I were to ever adopt again I would not use them as my vet. read more

I got my first pup, a doberman, and wanted to get her ears cropped. Dr. Tapper and staff did a fantastic job with the surgery and with the taping of her ears. We did the surgery at 10 weeks old and by around 5 months old they were holding up perfectly. Besides the cropping, the vet and his staff are very nice, professional, and approachable. I was driving from Miami for the procedure and the taping and I'm glad I did because the dog looks great! read more

Was vacationing and my dog got attacked at the nearby Hollywood Dog Beach on December 23rd. (Luckily I was able to get to him quickly or it could have been much worse. But I digress) I checked him over initially but after a few more looks, I saw some abrasions and since he doesn't care to be 'examined' when in pain/discomfort, I was concerned that maybe there could have been something worse. I found this clinic as the closest and while they were less than 30 minutes from closing, they took us in to check him over. Luckily, the abrasions were all that he had but the vet indicated that there may be bruising under the fur and pain after the adrenaline wears off (which I honestly hadn't thought of). He gave him an antibiotic shot and some medicine for the next few days. I appreciated that they took the time to check him, despite it being closing time and close to the holidays. read more

I am at a loss of words. Dr. Tapper misdiagnosed my pet with liver cancer when she had diabetes. He saw her glucose levels and ketones in her blood work and didn't consider treating her with insulin. By the time the office sent over a copy of her lab results she was slipping into a diabetic coma. I took her for a second opinion and started treatment, but it was too late. If I had taken my dog to the other vet sooner she would have been alive today. He refused to do anything to help her, it's truly a shame I trusted him with my dog. read more

I had several great experiences here. I have 2 cats and the one thing I liked was an entrance into the waiting room for cats only. Dogs are on the other side. It's quiet and efficient. No waiting time in a room full of animals. Clean. Timely appointments. Dr. Tapper and his staff are just wonderful. I had to euthanize one of my cats in my last experience, and they made it so I understood the process fully and I could stay with my cat to ease her and send her 'off' in a private room with just moments to say goodbye with the Doctor right there. No long drawn out drama. For her, it was dignified and humane and for me, massive tears, of course, but an understanding staff. I highly recommend Dr. Tapper and this Animal Hospital. My only caveat is to question every charge that might appear on your bill BEFORE any procedures. If you don't feel as though something is necessary, then, tell them right up front. Don't let your emotions get in the way of your wallet. read more

I was referred to this place by my dogs groomer Louis Groom (also 5 star). I have an almost 4 year old Maltese, Daisy, and decided to have her teeth cleaned. Although I try to do some maintenance at home, little dogs are known to have dental problems. Although she is my first dog, I have watched many friends & acquaintances neglect their dogs teeth through the years resulting in many extractions & infections at very young ages. I spoke with a physician on the phone who gave me a very reasonable estimate while also explaining the possibility of additional necessary services once the procedure started. I got an appointment within a couple of days & dropped her off curbside. I was so happy to speak with a tech after the procedure who informed me that my Daisy didn't require any extractions or medications. When I picked her up, the price was as quoted, nothing more. I was so pleased with the customer service. Now, the best part.....I expected to get my dog back in a sluggish post anesthetic state. She was vibrant, happy & able to run around. She let me know that she was hungry when we got home & totally enjoyed her smaller portion meal. When I looked in her mouth, she had no irritation, pearly white teeth & her breath was like fresh air. I am diligent about caring for my own teeth & want my dog to live her best life possible. She had spinal surgery when she was 9 months old which was heartbreaking. I will be using this facility in the future. I am beyond pleased with the service and outcome. read more

We had to have our 2 dogs put down, quoted 77.00 for euthanasia with general cremation and no ashes returned. Took them after heart wrenching decision. Made appt. that was not good for us, but fit Dr's schedule as he had to go to daughters soccer game after work......this after being clients for many years and thousands of dollars....nevertheless, Dr and staff very understanding and sympathetic . Procedure was done with great care for the dogs and us. Went to pay bill and was 494.00 for both???? Really!!! Charged 51.00 each for office visit plus, general cremation plus haz mat, plus 2 injections each!!!! If it wasn't bad enough to be in such emotional despair, but then get screwed over financially ! I don't know what it is, but this office is beyond slow. Whenever I have brought my dogs, it takes forever for the receptionist to realize someone is talking to her, then usually the first one tells me she is waiting on another one, finally some one comes, and a third person shows up from the back to take the dog. How many veterinary assistants does it take to change a light light bulb. Any which way, I always need to space out time even just for drop off or pick up for boarding. Ridiculous. read more

Dr. Tapper is the BEST!!! My precious angel Onyx was bleeding internally and was on deaths door on November 11, 2015. Dr. Tapper rushed in to saved his life. The surgery was a rough one and Onyx wasn't recovering very quickly. That week we had to go to see Dr. Tapper everyday. He had to get shots and we had to keep an eye on it. The next 2 weeks we had to go ever other day. Him and his team were so wonderful the whole time!!! He didn't even charge for all those days. They really did seem to CARE about his wellbeing and knew my finances weren't the best in the world, being a server that just had to pay thousands of dollars on a surgery to save my baby. This day and age it's hard to find a vet that you can really trust and that cares. Dr. Tapper is both!!!!! Everyday we came in the whole team was excited to see how much better Onyx was doing. Friendly faces that truly cared!! I am very grateful and thankful to the whole team and highly recommend them!!! Onyx has to get another surgery (this time on his spleen) in a few weeks and I know he is gonna be in good hands!! read more

I have to say I am thrilled with the work of this vet. I have a rescue dog, and have had her for about two months or so, and the vet has here healthy and happy. Each time I have walked int he door, except on the initial visit, the staff has known my dog, not always me, but always the dog. Though, like most dogs, mine is nervous when we arrive, the staff goes out of their way to comfort not only her, but me as well. When she was spade a couple weeks ago, they let her stay in her crate while she waited and recovered, they just put it in the larger cage they keep most dogs in. I was glad, because my dog loves that crate and it is her favorite place when she is afraid, so I am sure that it helped calm her. They always call after surgery, or shots within a day to make sure the dog is still doing well, and when she was there to be spade, I was called through the day for updates. The entire place is spotless, it is not over powered with pet dander, and there is a discount if you tell them that your dog is a rescue dog, but it does not seem to be a set discount, just a break on some of the prices. I will happily continue to use this vet for all of my dog's needs throughout her life, or my stay in south Florida. read more

Well I can go on about how bad this place is but to put it short I took my dog there Dr. tapper he shows no interest in the animal, my dog tried to say hi to him he completely ignored her and mind you I have the sweetest dog OK next I take my dog to Ian to get groomed and I told him how nervous she was and he tells me no she's not nervous you're nervous which got me really upset because I was not nervous and she is very afraid and nervous of grooming and he later found that out.. he kept her there for four hours and after four hours I called and said I would like to come pick her up and he said no it will be later in the afternoon I have to take my time with her I wasn't interested in my dog being in a cage so I went to pick her up and he started screaming at me the guy has no patience he couldn't even explain something to me he just kept raising his voice and talking to me nasty and I stayed calm and I should have known not to bring her there because the week before I took my dog there to show him how I like my dog groomed and he was really rude and he kept putting me down and telling me that I need to calm down mind you I was very calm. He just projects everything on to other people anyway while I left he tells me good luck with your next Groomrr I said you know you're very rude he goes I don't care in the nastiest voice I recorded our conversation and if any of you would like to hear it let me know because this man should not be grooming animals he has no heart and my dog looks like a frog right now she's super uneven and looks like a mess. Her ear cut is two very noticeable sizes this guy has no clue how to groom. Wow what a nasty person he needs a new job that has nothing to do with animals. Yeah so basically we're never going back there and my neighbor and friend up the road said she stopped going there as well so I'm starting to catch on. Love Dr Tapper. He has taken care of three of my dogs and has been great with all of them. He is a wonderful surgeon so if you need surgery he is the one to see. My husband and I brought our kitten, Frankie, here recently when it was time for him to be neutered. Our former vet left town and the procedure was overdue. Dr. Weiner and staff did a wonderful job---our kitten healed in no time and had no problems whatsoever. Several days after the surgery, the office even called to find out how our little boy was doing. Frankie didn't know the difference, but his parents were sure impressed. We didn't feel as if we were forgotten. just because they had our money. They treated us with consideration and respect. In our opinion, the pricing was fair and the doctor went over everything on his estimate with us, pointing out steps that were not necessities but merely options we could choose or disregard. And yes, the place is spotless. We are very happy with this hospital! read more

Been going for many years, but find they seem to like to care for dogs, more than cats, and they are not honest with their grooming of cats. When asking for a comb out to remove the mats, they just brush over the mats and leave the poor pets with the mats, and you don't even know it until you get home. That is not caring for a pet. You pay for a service and you don't get the service you paid for, as if they're doing you a favor. I suggest you check your pet before leaving there. They also like to add on charges if you don't ask beforehand...and if you question and don't want to pay the overcharge, they start treating you badly, like to discourage you from coming back. Once you complain there is no personal touch anymore, and treat you as strictly business, even by Dr. Tapper and especially that office manager they have now. read more
