We were so excited when we drove by this place. I've lived in Vegas a long time and never knew about this casino. My husband loves Ireland and my son loves green so we decided to go in and check it out. We needed to use the bathroom and maybe we'll have lunch here. The sconces on the wall were nice but it smelled like smoke when we first walked in. Like an old Vegas casino. I get it. Bathrooms were fine no complaints. There's one long bar and a bunch of machines. I was carrying my son(3yrs) and we walked up to the restaurant. Food looked good but wanted to see if there was another restaurant in the casino. It was our first time in the casino if you didn't catch that. We walked around the corner & the wheelchair ramp caught my eye. It's like a stone bridge. So cool! I was getting excited about this place and looking forward to eating here. I didn't see another restaurant so walked back to the first one but then the announcement said it was a give away day and my husband spotted a table set up with ladies giving away charcuterie in plastic cups. So cute. Right then a security guard came up to me and said we couldn't be anywhere but the restroom and the restaurant, which I already knew but I was just looking around. I tried to explain that to him and he rudely stood in the way of me letting my husband know we couldn't be there. We walked back to the restaurant and waited for my husband to find us. Whenever we are there , the thin lady with the short hair and glasses is ALWAYS cleaning EVERYTHING.. Part of the old guard that should be encouraged to stay.... Fun local casino located in the Water Street District. It's a small casino with no table games. However, there are a lot of slot machines, especially penny machines. The casino definitely caters to an older, senior citizen crowd. They are always different contests and giveaways every day. They also have food stations throughout the day where they give away treats like ice cream and brownies. Definitely sign up for the rewards card so you can be entered into random drawings like hot seat, drawings, and spin the wheel. Emerald Island, Casino and Grill used to be a great night out. It was our happy place but a new owner, tight machines and poor quality food has replaced what used to be. We recently had dinner & brought home food as we always have for years. I'm sad to report that our food caused not only indigestion but diarrhea. I ordered the rigatoni and sausage and took home most of it as well as chicken Florentine (which didn't even taste like chicken more like rubber) & a rack of ribs which weren't even cooked. It's probably all fake meat now. So not only the food has gone up in price, but your rewards points don't go as far so it's no longer our happy place. Classic diner type food here for breakfast and lunch. I have been here a few times for both but not dinner. Service was quick and friendly. Food deliver was fast. I decided to try a Cobb salad for first time. It was delicious and exactly as described on the menu. Delicious field greens, chunky blue cheese, grilled cubed chicken, fresh tomatoes and nice hard boiled eggs. Plus the chopped bacon which quality is lacking slightly. I had blue cheese dressing on the side which was delicious. Coffee is just okay and breakfast before with eggs can be hit or miss. I was surprised by quality of my salad and it was extra large. My boyfriend enjoyed his cheeseburger. The coleslaw nothing exciting. 3.5 stars overall for this type of venue. read more

Emerald Island is a great little casino to unwind. I love that there is a selection of fruit flavored Bacardi. Not many places offer that, and I am a huge fan of flavored bacardi. This is another of our favorites in Henderson! We come here every chance we get or across the street (which they now own). Even though we are from out of town we like the vibe of this local casino. I always seem to meet really great people, which is what I love to do while my wife gambles. The food here is great but they have a lot of free perks like free ice cream, tacos & pizza. Yes all just for coming here and playing. The stakes are low (they have $.01 penny machines) but you can still win big (or at least my wife can, to the tune of $2k). Much better than at a typical casino. The food's not healthy but they have some okay things. It's always open. The casino area is small. No table games. Only just slots. It would be nice if there was more but there's limited space in here of course. The place has kind of a smell but it's not as horrible as others can get. Good place for betting cheap. I had a lot of fun there but I stunk really bad of cigarettes when I left and had a headache for two days. I am not a smoker. My husband and I love going to Emerald, playing Keno, and sitting at the bar when Donna & June are the bartenders! They are friendly, always working a million miles an hour, but immediately stop what they are doing to ask us if we need anything, and they always remember our drink orders. Bottom line June and Donna are just all-around cool people and are definitely one of the reasons we like to come to Emerald Island several times a week!!! I am also pretty lucky there which makes playing at Emerald lots of Fun!! Their floor staff is very nice and always around to help with all the crazy promotions they have everyday which is another reason we love to go to Emerald Island! Anastasia, Gabe, Katie, Gina, Jesus, Justin, Zak, and Laurie are Awesome!!! And I know I'm forgetting a few because I can picture their faces but not their names, at the end of the day, the staff is just fantastic!!! Lastly, the cocktail waitresses are wonderful too! Stopped by this little casino because I had a coupon from the Las Vegas Advisor to spin the wheel for some free money after earning some points. The building is pretty cool in that's it's an older building with some unique character. It almost looks like an old campus building or hotel about 100 years old. I'm sure there is history there. The casino itself is definitely a local casino with a busy café. As I was new to players club, there were a few perks I was offered, including a free meal at said café and other coupons. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The casino had one of my favorite games (Huff and Puff) which gladly took my $200 without hesitation. However, a newer machine I hadn't played before gave me back $50. I earned enough points to "spin the wheel" so I went back up to the counter. Apparently they have to call someone to meet you at the wheel, so I headed down to wait. And wait. Of course, a Stinking Rich machine was sitting there and I couldn't resist so I played a little. i finally flagged someone down whom I meet when I joined the players club to say I'm here to spin the win. I guess a witness had to be found or someone with the authority to spin the wheel? Anyway, it was another few minutes and I ended up winning $15 cash, which I had to go the cashier to get. Even with the wait, it was still fun. I didn't eat there as I really just wanted to check out the place since I visit Vegas 3-5 times a year from SoCal. If I'm in the area I would definitely come back though, if anything to get me money back from Huff and Puff. read more

As i continue my quest to identify and visit places i haven't visited and mark them off my list Emerald Island was another place i've heard of but hadn't been to...UNTIL i made that special trip just to find out what they were about. The decor was very individualistic...i promised myself id use another term besides 'unique'. The building had its own charm that i havent seen in other establishments. The main casino bar was packed but i found a seat and the machines at the bar are 1, 5 and 10 cent denominations instead of the usual .25 cents so i guess you can sip on those full sized comp drinks for less gambling! Service at the bar met the needs of a typical party-goer and was an upbeat atmosphere. I do admit it did feel a bit cramped in there but there were cell phone charging stations at the bar along with purse hooks.....NO i dont carry a purse but i simply saw them! I didn't get to try their food as their restaurant was VERY busy, i looked at the menu and the prices seem a touch higher then their neighboring competitors...but judging by the line i will assume it's worth it. I'm a Yelper..an elite one at that, so i take photos of establishments, but here i was approached by Security asking me not to "take photos of other people" and they received complaints.....Umm whatever, i don't take photos of others and there is nothing in the Patriot Act or Homeland Security Act prohibiting photography and anyone in public can have their photo taken (Did you get my consent to take my photo via your CCTV system?) but as to not start a war i wouldn't win i just said "ok" and let it go. .... It might be an OK place to hang, but i'll let you know after i sample their food.... and I'm sure by the photos I posted you can tell just how many others were so affected by my photography *grin* read more

I am afraid to share this because it's already busy and hard to get a seat at the bar but..... hands down the best casino I have been to in years. The minute you walk in you are treated as if you were a regular. Security actually holds the door open for you when you enter and they smile. They have the very best bartenders in the entire vegas area. Friendly funny warm informative etc....Frank is outstanding. He sings he jokes he laughs and all around makes you feel welcome. Savanah Donna and Rose are very nice as well. The perks are amazing. When we signed up for the reward/loyalty program the young lady MORGAN was incredible. She was patient she answered all our questions she never made us feel like we needed to move on. I am not exaggerating at all. I am a top tier vip at 2 other well known large casinos and yes they give me a lot of expensive perks but I will gladly forgo all that to be treated the way they welcome you at Emerald casino. This place is a secret Gem! If there is a strip in Henderson (not Green Valley, REAL HENDERSON), it is called water Street in Henderson it's actually downtown Henderson. This is a great little casino there, on Tuesdays they have 50% off for veterans up to 7.50 per plate so my brother and I ate huge amounts of food for literally $16 for both of us! Also this is real friendly people from Henderson. Our hostess Lorraine doesn't know this but you could be a supermodel on any runway in Paris but don't tell her I don't want her to have a big head,.. the service is always good the food portions are large.. and this is what you can get real gaming there's a nice reward center there's a huge entry for handicap access it's covered in neon like Las Vegas used to be, but most of all even though it's small it's not smokey at all. It's got a cool rustic bar and you cannot not eat at the cafe and not enjoy it. I had 10 wings and fries for a total of $10 and my brother had a huge hamburger with double patties and fries and a drink for less than $10 all in I left paying $16 :-) if you're in Las Vegas you have to visit the emerald Island casino it's just a cool slice of history in downtown water Street. But don't hit on the girls even if they look like supermodels :-) also the booster extra wide, so I was able to sit comfortably but normally I can't get in and out of a booth.... I have only been here once & unfortunately I will never go back here again. My experience started out good but then went horribly bad quickly. A co-worker/friend of mine wanted to go out after work for a drink & I was hungry so I was looking for some food. I ended up getting there about 10 minutes before her & she told me to just meet her @ the bar. I believe this place only had one bar. Its a very small casino. Once I arrived I went to go get a players card. No one was behind the counter, I figured since it was 7:30am that it was probably closed. I found the bar & grabbed a seat towards the end, near the bathrooms. I was greeted right away by Sara. She came right over to me as soon as I sat down. I asked her about getting a players card. She took my ID & hooked me up with my card. I put some money in the machine & she offered me a drink. I told her I also wanted to eat & asked for a menu. She brought one over right away. Mean while my friend shows up & grabs the seat right next to me. Well come to find out my friend seems to know everyone that works here! lol Sara had come right over to her once she showed up & got her a beer. She was gambling too. As I was looking @ the menu Sara had come over to me to let me know she was going to be going home @ 8am. She asked me if I wanted to place my order with her or with the on coming bartender. I told her I would wait & do it with the next bartender since she was leaving. (What a mistake this was!!!!) So my friend & I are playing some video poker, talking & drinking our drinks. Yes, we can multi task. 8am hits & Sara is off and the new bartender arrives. What does this bartender do when she arrives?? Goes around the bar to greets & check on everyone??? NOPE. She had other plans. She goes to the beginning of the bar, where the cocktail waitresses pick up drinks & goes right over to a customer there. Seems she knows this lady. She was just chatting up a storm with her, completely ignoring all the customers around her. Come to find out this bartender's name is Teresa, an older lady. Probably mid 70's? Remember my friend? She knows everyone that works here. So we continue doing our thing & I'm waiting for her to come on down & check on us. I have the menu in front of me & I'm waiting to place my order but she's just too busy talking to this customer. After about 20 minutes she leaves the bar, walks by us to go to the bathroom. She's in there for a bit then comes back to her spot behind the bar. She then puts eye drops in her eyes.............OMG? Why didn't you do this in the bathroom? You have your hands in your face, wiping your eyes with a tissue to turn around & NOT wash your hands?? WTH? Your a bartender. Your serving food & drinks to customers. You need to have CLEAN hands. GROSS!!! So she goes back to talking to her friend. Now its 8:40am. Teresa has been @ work for 40 minutes & still hasn't come down to the other end of the bar to check on my friend & I or the other guy further down from us. I'm STARVING!! So I politely go up to her, stand next to her friend that she is talking to. I don't say anything ( I don't want to interrupt her important conversation) & a few seconds later she stops talking & looks @ me. I say "when you get a chance I'd like to order some food please." OMG she was so mad that I had the nerve to come up & interrupt her conversation with her friend. She rudely replied "yeah, I'll be down there!" I go back to my seat & tell my friend what she said. She comes down a few seconds later & attacks me right away. Say's "You know you need to gamble more for a free drink." I said "I've been gambling & I can pay for my drinks if I have to." She was so focused on wanting me to put more money in the machine for a drink. I was winning & not losing so there was no need to do that. I basically called her out on her not being attentive to her customers (including me) & being too busy chatting with her friend. She aggressively, verbally attacked me. So unprofessional. She told me not to come into her job & tell her how to do it. She continued to argue with me, told me I could go to the restaurant & order my food there & walked off. I told her to send a manager over. Rick had gone & talked to her then came over to me. He wasn't very nice about the whole situation & was focused on me putting more money in. Who knows what lie she told him? I wasn't even asking for a drink. I didn't like how he was ok'ing her behavior. Later on he did come back & offered me some food. He took my ordered, brought it over in a to-go container (my choice) & didn't charge me for it. She did end up coming back down & offering me a drink. I've got more to say but I'm running out of room. Apparently this is how Teresa is. Her co-workers complain about her. I can't believe management allows this behavior. Definitely a nice change from the strip casinos. We both had the Friday night steak & lobster special, and it was excellent! Large servings, well-prepared and a very fair price.
