Thank you Sunset Tavern for still having a 24/7 kitchen and a well rounded menu. Everything was good we had the ultimate nachos with grilled chicken, blackened salmon with veggies and the chicken piccata, all were tasty and well prepared. Hello all , Went here late after work and ordered food and drinks for two. Chad graced us with his presents as our Bartender/server . I ordered a Tangueray and tonic and we tried to order an Aperol Spritz to no avail then we ordered a Negroni , but they didn't have the sweet vermouth. Chad came up with a mix of the two and it actually tasted really nice. Lol we ordered a salad , salmon pasta , and piccata . All where very good , but the piccata and pasta could have used more sauce. As far as the inside of the bar it was clean and Ambient. I found my #1 Hendo bartender, Lala- the Hawaiian dancing queen! As always, she helped me feel like I was a regular even though it was my first time at this bar. Lala is accompanied by another lovely bartender, Candice. The hubs and I sat at the bar and played a few rounds on gaming machines, we got a players card, and ordered some soft, mildly salted pretzel bites that came with a cheese sauce, $7.77 nachos that are actually mini bean tacos topped with shredded lettuce and drizzled cheese sauce, as well as a burger with these lightly salted swirled fries accompanied by a perfectly consistent ranch dressing. If you're sitting at the bar & order food- you'll get a bar buddy to comfortably eat. The ambiance is chill, welcoming, and lovely. The furnishings vary from bar seating, a few high top tables, and grey clothed booths. The bar seating also has purse hooks which is a huge plus! The bathrooms were nice and had stall doors. Don't overlook this hidden local gem! Definitely worth seeking out. My son and our friend ate at Sunset Tavern late at night. It is open 24 hours, has good reviews and is conveniently close to Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham where we are staying. They had potstickers and a BLT with "scoops" fries, and they came back very enthusiastic. (The scoops are thinner than other fries, about as wide as potato wedges, cut in a scoop shape, beautifully fried, and delicious.) On the strength of that, my son and I went over about 11 last night. We checked in on Yelp for a free whiskey and Coke (him) and a draft Stella (me). I was impressed with the number of beers on tap! My son had the garlic steak fries featuring large chunks of ribeye - lots of excellent steak! - sauteed with garlic. It was served on a bed of scoops with a wonderful garlic sauce topped with a garnish of chopped tomato and onion. Outstanding. I had the ribeye rare, served with a red-wine mushroom sauce and sauteed herbed vegetables. I really was not expecting much from the vegetables which the photo hides under the steak. However, these were not the lackluster steam-tabled veggies so many restaurants serve. This was a flavorful, fresh, well-seasoned mix of red onion, mushrooms, broccoli florets, and halved grape tomatoes. We loved this wonderful complement for the steak. We shared the scoops and vegetables and exchanged bites of steak, each seasoned differently and deliciously. Our server came to check that my steak was indeed cooked rare, which it was, with a lovely sear on the outside and a bit of well-browned fat. A lovely steak indeed. Warning: If you are watching salt intake, definitely do tell your server. All the seasoning including the mushroom sauce struck me as salty as it hit my mouth. I wouldn't change it, but you might want to if you need to avoid sodium. The seasoning blended beautifully with the food, with great flavor lingering throughout the entire mouthful and meal instead of turning bland. We didn't have to add a thing, and we ate every bit. This kitchen serves top-notch food. The service was perfect, the place was spotless (including the bathroom), and the price was more than fair. Most of the menu is on line, although the printed version also listed sides for $5 (including plain scoops, a loaded baked potato, and salad). And check out the $7.77 specials! We wished we had room for the fried mushroom chips, etc. but we were stuffed. Maybe next time. read more

Love this local bar. Come in when I'm looking for some good food and drinks. They always have the games on and the bartenders are always friendly. I usually make my way down to see Nancy, she's the best. They run great gaming promotions and I always seem to do ok on the machines. The low review is totally based upon the food. The chicken fingers appeared to literally be the fingers of the chicken. I have never seen fingers so scrawny. Their supplier needs to be called out for animal abuse for starving the poor chickens. This might be overlooked if it was one finger that was lacking but the largest one was still small by normal standards. And it was 2 orders that were like this. Perhaps If the price was under $8 it might be overlooked but 3 tiny fingers for $13 and fries that were having an identity crisis as you couldn't tell if they were chips or steak fries was a bit much. The little bit of food you get did taste good. The burrito did not have jalapeños and was very tasty just not represented as in the picture or the description on the menu. The appetizer on their $7.77 menu was very minimal and underwhelming. Service waitress/ bartender was very nice and helpful with suggestions. Ambiance is typical of what to expect from a sports bar. Used to be good. The food is good but they have the worst bartender in all of Henderson. Candice is horrible, your food order will be wrong and there can be only a few people in the place and you'll go thirsty as she's on her phone all the time. This has happened several times not just once. I've also heard the same thing from many people. Even other bartenders at other locations know how bad she is. Been to this place before but haven't utilized the free drink offer. When I went tonight to do so, they said they do not honor it. Is it because I am an African American woman? I hope not! The bartender then tells me to chat with the assistant manager Sumi (I assume that's how you spell it) my issue with this is false advertising. I'm assuming that's how they get people to come in. The bartender then comes back after I order food and two drinks saying someone else tried to use but couldn't. I don't believe her. I have a business and had Yelp. If it's no longer a thing you can easily remove the offer from Yelp. I will be speaking to the manager. This is unacceptable! Overall good place with good food don't like how they are doing business though. Scam alert with the Yelp offer. I may make a tik tok about this smh. 07/14/2022: My wife and I went into Sunset Tavern tonight about 530pm. I ordered the breakfast burrito for dinner. I am in very often for that and some gambling. I bring friends in often to order the breakfast burrito. My wife ordered the Blackened chicken breast with vegies tonight. In the past when she ordered it, it came with mushrooms that was not mentioned on the menu. This time she ordered it without mushrooms. The order came out with a chicken breast that was not blackened. It was on a bed of uncooked onions with 3 pieces of uncooked broccoli and hot water. She cannot eat onions! It was never on a bed of onions before. When she complained to one of the bartenders, she was told, "Oh, thanks for your feedback. This is good information for our cooks." She danced around like she was making everything good. She said she would tell the cooks. She came back later and told us the cooks told her this is how it's made and they were sorry for the confusion, but she said it was great information for them. My wife was starving and ate the one piece of chicken breast only. She handed the plate back and told both bartenders that she could not eat the rest because of all the onions (No other vegies). It used to come with much more broccoli, carrots and such. My wife and I were both gambling and we both lost $100 each. When we were done, the second bartender brought us our dinner receipt. She charged us for both the burrito (9.99) and the "blackened" chicken breast with a total bill cost of $28.17. I was surprised. I told the second bartender that I saw she charged us for my wife's full meal. I asked if she could at least charge us for a chicken breast only. She said no. Then I explained that we both lost $100 and asked if she could at least comp one meal (leaving it open to comp the breakfast burrito). She said no. She explained that she told the cooks about the situation and they said we had to charge full price and continued by saying that they do not comp meals. Well, that was a lie... I have been in many times before to gamble & eat and explained that I had received comp'd meals in the past by different bartenders. She said that she did not have the authority to comp any meals and explained I had to pay for everything. And since when do the cooks have the "say so" when charging for meals? Maybe the cook was the owner/manager. If he was, he never offered to come talk to us. I don't know. The bartender also said that the "Chef" was not there to handle the cooking so there wasn't anything else they could do. Anyway, I feel that the food has changed for the worse and the menu is changing without notice. The staff at the Sunset Tavern also did not handle the situation well at all. They should have immediately offered to take the plate back, they did not. They could have charged for the chicken breast a la-carte but chose not to. They were given the chance to comp the meal, even the cheaper one, but they did not. This "Blackened Chicken Breast" was an awful meal and the Sunset Tavern chose to do nothing about it. We are normally very good tippers also. The bartender's decisions NOT to handle this properly is sad for them and the Tavern. They had a chance to make a good smart decision and to make a bad experience good. They did not. We will not support the Sunset Tavern and we will continue to tell folks about our bad experience. And to those of you who haven't got passed the money loss, that's not the point at all. That occurs a few times a week at different places. The point is we went in for a good meal and were treated horribly. There are many other places to go here locally. Johnny Mac's, Hammer's & Remedy's are three examples. read more

I almost don't want to write this review as this place was our little hidden secret but the secret is now out. This is a hole in the wall bar with great restaurant style food, gaming, and plenty of TVs to watch a game. The staff is great and the bar has a very local feel. Some of our favorite foods are the Mac and cheese, grilled salmon, fish and chips, and the crispy sliced fried potatoes. Glad to have another great bar / restaurant in this part of Henderson. The fries are the best I've had in a very long time. My husband loved the steak sandwich he had. He was here one time before and had the hamburger ... said it was the best he had in a long time. Unbelievably rude and obnoxious waitress. Don't know her name but she had long black hair and was incredibly snotty. My first visit here and it will be the last. I came in with a friend of mine and her service dog. She is a disabled vet and the dog is a legit service animal. The stop was unexpected and yes, we should have been better prepared, but all we did was ask for a cup or bowl of water for the dog. All the lady had to say was no, or that it was against some policy. But she quite literally rolled her eyes, made an audible "huff" and without saying a word turned and walked away. A few minutes later she came out with a small plastic bowl, which I graciously thanked her for, even after her rude behavior, only to be chastised about asking for water for the dog. We had to sit there and listen to her talk like she was talking to children. This lady has no business being in a service industry. I'm a local who entertains lots of visitors. It's been almost two years since their opening day (which we waited so patiently for!) and after dozens of visits, it's still our favorite place. A block from our house, the best food in town, and always great service! Food is always consistent and there's nothing on the menu that isn't fantastic. Seriously.
