Escape rooms are getting niche? I love it!…read more So when friends of ours wanted to go to a horror-themed escape room, I was in! Now, full disclosure here: I HATE haunted houses. And this brought back memories of me stumbling through a few with my then-boyfriend, now-husband. Horror really isn't my thing, but I embraced the experience anyway and ended up having a lot of fun. The Lair is a bit hard to find -- but honestly that's kind of part of the allure. It's in a small building, on the outskirts of downtown. The windows are covered in black plastic, and there's small signage on the front door. But when you walk in, you find a foyer bathed in red light, complete with all manner of creepy decorations. We opted for The Cathedral escape room: "The old church is harboring a dark secret. Escape its lower tunnels or become Hell's newest resident. Stay vigilant, because you are not alone down here." I won't give away the clues, but this room involves going into a separate crypt. It was definitely a strong PG-13 to R in gore. And the clues were the right type of challenging. We only had to use the walkie talkie to ask for a clue once. My husband and I were with friends who are true escape room junkies -- and they really enjoyed this too. There are three room types total, and you can book easily via the website. Also important to know: There are expanded hours if you book online than what you see as the main hours on the website. We also talked to the owner for a bit afterward. It was clear he takes a lot of pride in The Lair -- a labor of love in the most horror-filled way possible. ;-P Games are $39/each and definitely provided a fun time for an hour -- or should I say 50 minutes, since we ended up escaping The Cathedral successfully, with 10 minutes to spare! We ended up not becoming Hell's newest residents. Phew!

Prior to this, we have done escape rooms at three other locations. This was hands down our favorite! We chose the Train Ro themed one and between the two of us we solved it with only one hint! Clues are straight forward and there are not a bunch of false rabbit holes to fall down. It is located in the basement, and the above area is used for events, so you may here some sound from above but it did not reduce the quality of the game. It cost 20 dollars to get in which is steep but they all cost around that much so you're not going to get a better deal anywhere else. We waited for over an hour to finally go on the haunted trail but there were actors and posters around so you had something to look at. You do get a few scares but nothing too serious. The actors do take their job seriously but may accidentally break character if someone makes a weird comment to them. Overall, not a bad place to go during Halloween.

I would give yourself about 5 hours to go to all of the haunts as one of them is about a 45 min drive and the line was over an hour long, luckily they let you use the tickets to the particular haunts whenever during the season. We had 6 people in our vehicle, I recommend you have at least 3 since the driver is kind of worthless since they are trying to pay attention to the road and their surroundings. The clues are written very well and are not easy! Great time, we could do it again if we were going to be in the Ville' next year at this time.

They no longer take reservations, it's first come first serve. And the daily price during the week doubled. I also couldn't find info about evening hours anymore, either. I do think it's a little hard to find information, outside of their general landing page, and have called or emailed a few times without a return message. I'd say this is more of an adult hipster pool, I've rarely seen a lot of kids here. Which I like. This is my second season going to Myriad, and it's a great addition to the city. I usually do a day pass but we have got a room several times, and everything has been terrific! There's an outdoor bar, but waitstaff will also come around and take your order. They have some delicious frozen drinks as well as a menu for poolside dining. They do provide fluffy white towels as a courtesy and that's such a nice touch. This year they've extended the pool hours and that was so smart! Most nights it's open until 8pm. The chef is amazing, the full menu in the restaurant is top notch. They've also been very accommodating in letting me order some things that are not listed on the pool menu. Cashless payments only, FYI ..so bring a card. On the weekends, they have a delicious brunch menu as well. I've been really happy going to the Myriad Swim Club. It's clean, fun, with great food and drinks and all the little touches to make you smile and feel welcome.
