He went over and beyond to make sure there is no more mold and bacteria left behind. Bo also has connection with a mold testing company and a reconstruction company. He did a good job answering my questions and I like that he is local. Richie was able to get the permits and start the job ~6 weeks later. Appreciate he was a willing to coordinate around my business trip. Also, the weekend before they were to start we found out one of our neighbors was planning a backyard gathering on Monday. I texted Richie on the weekend and he said no problem, they would start on Tuesday. Once the team showed up to start the job, they were great at communicating what they were planning each day. They had to remove a section of fence and a small greenhouse to gain access. They also decided not to risk damaging our old driveway with the heavy trucks, so fill dirt was dumped in the street and transferred to the backyard with the bobcat. This showed me that they really care and are thoughtful about what they are doing. I was able to go to work each day without worrying about being there to supervise. The team showed up each day as scheduled and after the concrete demo, rebar cutting, ~28 truck loads of dirt dumped in the hole and compacted, the job was completed in ~9 business days as estimated. They did a good job cleaning up and hauling everything away. ~2 weeks later I passed the city inspection and received the signed permit. At the time, Golden Bay was only able to give me a $50 discount off my total price (which was close to $1,000 mind you, so not cheap). During my call with Michael, I again mentioned that it would have been nice to get half off of my total but I wasn't really expecting them to do this. Michael said he would talk to the owners of the company and get back to me either later that day or the next business day at the latest. I thanked him for his time and hung up, not really expecting much outcome. However, true to his promise, Michael contacted me early the next business day. Not only was he able to get approval for the 50% off that I had asked for, he went the extra step and got the FULL amount of what I paid refunded. That was way more than I expected and I was very happy with this result. While I still have a lot of hesitation about working with Golden Bay Movers in the future, I'm glad they were able to make things right, which instills some of my trust back in them.

So after a lot of back and forth, I finally decided to hire Alex. Alex and his colleagues were GREAT. Hard-working, good listeners, respectful of our house(s) and of our possessions, great attitudes, fast as lightening... Alex came with his power drill and confidently and rapidly dismounted any furniture that needed to be broken down and put it all back together with the same efficiency in the new house. Nothing got lost, nothing got broken. Everything was in its right place as opposed to in a pile in our garage as per our precedent move. Keep in mind that as a small company, they don't have insurance and it will be up to you to provide mattress bags and plastic wrap unless you specifically ask for these materials. Alex has moving blankets to wrap valuables, but anything else has to be purchased beforehand by the customer. The truck is also 12', smaller than the bigger moving companies. I highly recommend Alex and his team. I hope we never have to move again, but if we do, I'll call Alex and his power drill to come and help us and I am confident he'll bring his great attitude and his speed with him. If efficiency, professionalism and excellent customer service are important to you in choosing your next movers, do yourself a favor and call Alex.
