We've used WCMS twice now, once to move from the Bay Area to LA, and then again to move back up to the Bay. Both times they were remarkably punctual and professional, and all of our belongings and furniture were perfectly intact. Just talked to them to get an estimate and they told me they charge 11% fuel charge based on the hourly rate and number of hours worked. I asked why when fuel is not being consumed while loading / unloading. The answer that is what we do. Wow, that is strange to charge $13.00 per hour for a truck not using fuel. Additional there is a min 30 min travel time charge which would be an additional $65 for this move. Not using them! This also appears to be illegal in California "Unfair Competition Law (UCL): Charging for a service not rendered (like fuel not used) can be argued as "unfair or deceptive" under California Business and Professions Code § 17200, especially if the surcharge is used as a hidden profit center rather than a cost recovery tool." Below is a reply and here is my response: The information about the fuel fee was presented to be based on a percentage of the total move time. Not your actual cost, which I would have been okay with. I'm not asking for anything to be waived, just transparency. Your remarks about your family are completely out of line. We had a 10'x35' space full of items and they had us packed up, relocated and moved into our new storage space at Extra Space Storage on Alcosta in just under two and a half hours. In full transparency, my wife and I are knocking on the door of transitioning to senior citizens and a move like this would have wiped us out and literally taken us all day using a rental van and making numerous trips. Yet Jose and Mario got it done in a single trip leaving us with plenty of time to tidy afterwards and go out for a nice relaxed brunch in Dublin. I moved from Northern California to Southern California and used West Coast Moving Systems. I worked with Robert who was great at guiding me through the process. The movers were on time and very respectful of my property and house. Although it took most of the day the workers moves fast and efficiently. Everything was wrapped and double wrapped in some cases. I was concerned about my antique glass curio cabinet but it was wrapped so well I don't think dropping it would have harmed it. Kidding, but that good. I had a little bit of an unusual move in that I was moving out of a studio but also had stuff that needed to picked up at another location as well. They were totally accommodating and for local moves the pricing is just for one truck, two guys at an hourly rate. The two guys they sent were quick and efficient, no wasting time to run up the bill. Not cheap but a totally fair and reasonable bill at the end. They lose one star because they were a bit rough with some admittedly old Scandinavian teak veneer on particle board book shelves and damaged them beyond repair. Fortunately they were on their last legs anyway and pretty fragile. So I had expected to replace them soon, and I was able to hide the damage for now. read more

Had 3 movers transport furniture including some bulky items like a 8ft tall china cabinet and partially disassembled Korean massage couch. Everything was handled with care and set up where requested. They were able to do the job within the 3 hr minimum so there were no additional charges compared to the original quoted price. Initially we were considering assigning only 2 movers because it was just a 1 bedroom unit but after explaining the bulk items further the operations manager recommended a third person for another $40 an hour. I think 3 people ended up being the right call because if we had only 2 movers everything would have taken longer than the 3 hours minimum and costing me more. read more
