I used this company for a move from Gilroy to San Jose. The crew arrived at 9am and finished around 3pm with just two movers, which felt much longer than expected for the size of the move. Unfortunately, they also broke my full-length glass mirror. It wasn't a cheap replacement -- even IKEA mirrors are expensive, and mine was from TJ Maxx and cost around $200. They only offered me $60 in compensation, which was disappointing. The movers themselves were kind and professional, but overall the experience didn't match the fairly priced and efficient service described in many of the reviews. Overall, my move with Brothers Movers went smoothly and the movers themselves were efficient, careful, and professional during the actual move. I didn't have any issues with the handling of my items, and everything arrived safely. The only confusion came during payment. Prior to the move, I was told that Venmo was an accepted form of payment, but when it came time to pay, there seemed to be some confusion about using Venmo. We eventually figured it out once I showed the app and QR code, so it wasn't a major issue. May have been a language barrier. My biggest concern was the tipping policy. When coordinating beforehand, tipping was presented as recommended/optional. However, on moving day, the tip was treated as mandatory and already calculated into my final bill. I found that pretty unprofessional and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. What's unfortunate is that I had actually planned on tipping the movers more than the preset amount because they did a good job and they were nice. But once it was presented as mandatory instead of optional, I simply paid the included amount. I think the company would benefit from being more transparent upfront and allowing customers to decide gratuity themselves. Aside from that issue, the move itself went well. read more

Recently hired Brother Movers for an apartment move. Reached out for a quote and eventually pivoted the conversation to text message for convenient response times. Explained what we were moving and they provided us with a transparent price breakdown. They also provided proof of insurance when requested by our building. On moving day, they arrived 15 min early. However, even though they were early they didn't start the billing time until our scheduled time, which I respect. Two movers for a two bedroom, two bath. They brought all the equipment they needed including dollies, carts, wrap, mats, hanger boxes. They worked efficiently and effectively, clearing out our place at a good rate before bringing it all over to our new place. Unloading was expeditious and they helped to place items where we requested. The movers were friendly and didn't complain about anything. There is a bit of a language barrier but it's still possible to communicate effectively. read more

Overall hiring this company was mostly efficient. Scheduling was easy through Yelp. However, I would've liked to have been given a heads up if the moving team didn't start first thing in the morning, that they would not be able to finish. The moving window was 11am-1pm. The team arrived around 12:30pm with a team of 4. After the 1st load, I was told at 7:30-8pm, that it would be too late for their team to finish the move. That was quite upsetting to find out on the day of. Pros: Very fast in packing large furniture items. Movers will pack and provide large boxes (with deposit) until returned. Fragile items were packed extremely well. Hourly rate had good value and upfront transparency on tip expectations. Cons: Most of the team doesn't understand English. If you communicate information to the one team member who does understand English, it doesn't necessarily get relayed to the rest of their crew. I have used them 3x for local San Jose regional moves and plan to use them for my next in-state move (if possible.) My husband was referred to Brother Movers by one of his clients for our move from San Francisco to the Peninsula -- and it was hands down the best decision ever. This was my second big move in life, and I can confidently say they exceeded expectations. They showed up right on time with three movers and were QUICK. Like... lightning quick. We were moving out of a 3-bedroom + 1 office and we have a LOT of stuff. I was still packing up my office for maybe 20 minutes, and somehow they had already cleared out the dining room and living room. We're talking big furniture too like including an 8-person dining table!! Anything that wasn't boxed but we wanted to bring, they came prepared with extra boxes and all the materials. I still don't know how they folded our Purple king mattress and had one person single-handedly dolly it down the stairs They were extremely careful, which I really appreciated; considering we lived on the 2nd floor of a typical narrow SF duplex with tight pathways. They wrapped everything properly, maneuvered everything with care, and not a single item was scratched or damaged. They also drove at a safe speed to our new place to make sure everything stayed secure. We moved on a Monday, so the hourly rate was lower (I believe it was $140/hour for 3 movers). There's a mandated tip fee per hour and a flat truck fee, but honestly, with how efficient and careful they were, it was money very well spent. Especially to save my back. Johnny and two other movers were prompt, worked hard and efficiently, took great care to wrap our furniture and protecting walls/corners and the floor. Booking communication started on their website and then through e-mail. Pricing (including vehicle fee, expected tip, etc.) was given up front so there were no surprises. Cash only. People might frown on this but we are hiring Brother Movers because they are affordable and good. It is what it is. Johnny was able to communicate with us freely and while the two other movers did not speak English, we were able to communicate using a translation app when needed. They were very careful to have us double check our home, placement of furniture and the truck to ensure nothing was left behind or not as we had wanted. I felt bad because I decided later to have the sofa sets swapped between the living room and family room and they had no issues doing that for us. I have used movers before of varying ages and ability, some who chain smokers and took breaks often. Brother Movers worked for 4.5 hours without a break (other than driving 25 minutes to the new home) and were a pleasure to work with. Even though they're based out of Fremont and we were moving within San Francisco, we decided to hire them because we had consistently heard great things about them beforehand. We needed help moving from a 2x2 condo to a single family home and hiring movers was an absolute must. We created a Yelp project and gathered many estimates. For the most part, the pricing was the same across multiple companies, but Brother Movers had the best overall reviews so we moved forward with them. There were minor issues: -I did not receive a confirmation text prior to the service that I had to reach out and make sure they were still coming. -They showed up an hour early - Ended up being okay as we continued to pack last minute things while they loaded the truck. -We booked two movers, but three showed up. We had an option to just have two movers, but figured we would proceed with three movers since the third guy was already there. It did cost more per hour, but the price we paid in the end was within what we were expecting. Overall, we were happy with their service. The truck was huge and I couldn't believe they moved all our stuff in one trip. The movers were pros at disassembling furniture, if needed, and assembling at the new place. I needed movers to help move me from San Mateo to San Francisco. I packed everything the night before and had it ready for them when they got to my place. I then left them to do what they do best! I didn't want to be in their way so I went ahead to the new address and my roommate stayed behind to ensure that everything was running smoothly. They were cleared out of my whole 2 Bedroom Apartment in 3 Hours and on the road to the new place. I then met them at the new place and I ended up letting them in and they just started right away. They were super organized and helpful as they got the stuff in. They were so good that they were even concerned about a small plant that we had. That says a whole lot about the kind of staff that they have. They continued to work until everything was completed. I just sat back and let them do their thing until they were all done. After they were done we went to the loading dock where we settled the bill and let me tell you it was worth every penny of what we spent. Down one flight, up another with two bends. Bed, dresser, piano, armoire. All down the second floor of our old, up to the 2nd of our new. Packed so much of hour belongings. Our entire kitchen, pots and pans, glassware. Coffee machine, appliances, bathroom, sofa, everything. TVs off the wall computers, desks, all of our electronics. All wrapped in shrink wrap, moving blankets. Fantastic. Even the piano. What would have taken us 2 weeks of active packing took them 8 hours. They're great workers. They carefully packaged all the kitchen fragiles, constantly double checked where I wanted things to go between the two drop off locations. However, there was a language barrier. I did have to speak VERY broken English, and some things did fall through. Some items weren't taken with us by the end of it that I had asked for, (at that point it'd been several hours so I didn't bother asking for more), and the biggest thing for me was the bag rack I had on the wall. I made sure they were looking at what I was pointing to when I told them, and I told them the rack can just come off the wall and so I wouldn't have to put them all back up in the original display format. They did give me a verbal confirmation. Sadly this didn't happen, the rack didn't even come with us, and now I have to redo that entire hanging display. Huge pet peeve of mine, since I didn't plan to redo it so I don't remember how to, and I had it in a certain way so all were visible. I'm quite upset about that, and it will take a lot of extra time. Since the boxes have to be returned within 3 weeks, this just made it even more unlikely that I'll be able to make this and have to pay the 20% fee. Sigh. read more

I've used Brother Movers about three times now in a span of 5 years. They've always been consistently great and love all their staff. They all have great communication leading up to the move and even afterwards. The movers themselves are all very hardworking individuals and I'm truly grateful for all of them. For our most recent move, we transition from a 750 sq ft apartment to a 1,400 sq ft townhome. Although our apartment was small, we had tons of boxes and large furniture items. Our stuff did fill 90% of their truck. My husband learned from last time and disassembled some furniture which helped speed up the process. The movers brought wardrobe boxes which were a huge help as well. All their materials they use they usually supply, such as tape and shrink wrap, etc, which is also nice of them. We opted to choose 3 movers as we had three stories from point A to B with all stairs. The movers were able to finish in about 4 hours and 20 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend them. I did not have time to empty a wardrobe box during my 2 hour reservation. I was told I could pay $30 for it but if I called them to pick it up, I could get the $30 back. When Bill texted me to see how service went, I shared that I had a box that I was told could be picked up. He provided an address for me to go to and then also shared a pick up was $25. None of this was shared when they left it which is upsetting because I had already figured I'd have to keep it but they told me about having them pick it up. I've used Brother Movers several times and always felt great about their responsiveness, attention to detail, and fair pricing. This last move was the first time I left feeling a little disappointed. While carrying a stack of boxes, one box fell and a few plates ended up breaking. In past moves, the crew usually wrapped stacks like that so they stayed secure. I also noticed this crew seemed a bit more loose when handling items compared to previous teams. We were only moving to another unit in the same building (both on the ground level), roughly 400 feet away, and the move still took much longer than expected. They chose to walk everything over instead of loading items into the truck, which ended up increasing the cost by quite a bit. I'm hoping this was just a newer crew and not the norm for Brother Movers because I've had such great experiences in the past. I still recommend them, and I'm hoping the next move feels more like my earlier experiences. But as a result, I do need to lower my rating to 4-stars.
