I have used a few other moving companies and I had heard of big brother movers as they are very close to where I lived in Fremont. We heard and saw good reviews so we booked, they were flexible with move out time. However on the day of the move out they came pretty late, which wasn't too big of an issue at first but after seeing the wrapping compared to other companies I was not impressed. I have a lot of plants and other companies can see that it is important to me, they usually have wrapped the plants. They did not wrap any of the plants. They also didn't wrap some standing lights and a tall plant shelf which ended up breaking. Our new home was five minute from our old home but we came to the new home with many damaged items. They were super costly but it hurt either way. They also require that you tip, we tipped the 20% but were not necessarily impressed. read more

We used Brothers Movers for a move within Santa Cruz County, from a two-bedroom townhome to a two-bedroom home. Our arrival window was between 4:00-6:00 p.m., and they arrived around 4:50 p.m. They completed the entire move by about 8:30 p.m., which was impressive considering there were stairs involved at both locations. The movers were professional, polite, and worked quickly and efficiently. They took great care to protect both our belongings and the homes by wrapping all of our furniture and placing protective rugs on the stairs. I don't normally write reviews but wanted to highlight my experience as they have been unresponsive for almost 2 weeks now. I've used Brother Movers once in the past and they were perfect that time. Came right on time, communication was efficient, and nothing was damaged. So I was more than willing to use them for my most recent move. The first issue is that we clearly asked in the email communication thread for 2 movers. On the day of the move, however, 3 showed up. Though we explained to them we only requested 2 movers, the movers were already present so they started working immediately. While we had no major issues with this as it expedited the move process, we felt forced to accept the cost of 3 movers. They never explained how this miscommunication happened. The second is that the movers were MUCH rougher with our furniture this time around compared to the first time we used them. They damaged two separate shelves that I have. For the first shelf, they damaged a huge chunk while roughly using a knife to remove the packaging around the shelf that the mover repaired on the spot. On that day, I believed it was a one-time issue and assured the mover that it was fine, especially since it was more cosmetic and didn't affect the functionality of the shelf. Two days later, however, I noticed that another bookshelf of mine was damaged. This one actually affects the functionality of the shelf as it was completely unhinged from the back and chunks were also found on the ground upon moving the shelf and inspecting it more closely. Because of this, the doors cannot be aligned and items are falling through the back since the shelf is no longer secured. Considering the issues mentioned, I requested a damage claim for just the second shelf that was damaged more intensely. Their website gives basic damage claim "based on the weight of the article or furniture multiplied by 60 cents". According to a link I sent them, the bookcase weighs close to 66 pounds. With the calculations Brother Movers provided and considering there were two items that were damaged but I am only requesting one, I requested at least $30 to cover a portion of the cost I would be spending on replacing my bookshelf. They first mentioned they can come by and repair it but since there are clear pieces that fell out, it is no longer repairable. They have yet to reply after sending two more follow up emails. I'm hoping this yelp review will get their attention as they seem to be active here. read more

I used this company for a move from Gilroy to San Jose. The crew arrived at 9am and finished around 3pm with just two movers, which felt much longer than expected for the size of the move. Unfortunately, they also broke my full-length glass mirror. It wasn't a cheap replacement -- even IKEA mirrors are expensive, and mine was from TJ Maxx and cost around $200. They only offered me $60 in compensation, which was disappointing. The movers themselves were kind and professional, but overall the experience didn't match the fairly priced and efficient service described in many of the reviews. We were recommended Brother Movers by our neighbors and friends. Johnny and two other movers were prompt, worked hard and efficiently, took great care to wrap our furniture and protecting walls/corners and the floor. Booking communication started on their website and then through e-mail. Pricing (including vehicle fee, expected tip, etc.) was given up front so there were no surprises. Cash only. People might frown on this but we are hiring Brother Movers because they are affordable and good. It is what it is. Johnny was able to communicate with us freely and while the two other movers did not speak English, we were able to communicate using a translation app when needed. They were very careful to have us double check our home, placement of furniture and the truck to ensure nothing was left behind or not as we had wanted. I felt bad because I decided later to have the sofa sets swapped between the living room and family room and they had no issues doing that for us. I have used movers before of varying ages and ability, some who chain smokers and took breaks often. Brother Movers worked for 4.5 hours without a break (other than driving 25 minutes to the new home) and were a pleasure to work with. Recently hired Brother Movers for an apartment move. Reached out for a quote and eventually pivoted the conversation to text message for convenient response times. Explained what we were moving and they provided us with a transparent price breakdown. They also provided proof of insurance when requested by our building. On moving day, they arrived 15 min early. However, even though they were early they didn't start the billing time until our scheduled time, which I respect. Two movers for a two bedroom, two bath. They brought all the equipment they needed including dollies, carts, wrap, mats, hanger boxes. They worked efficiently and effectively, clearing out our place at a good rate before bringing it all over to our new place. Unloading was expeditious and they helped to place items where we requested. The movers were friendly and didn't complain about anything. There is a bit of a language barrier but it's still possible to communicate effectively. read more

Overall hiring this company was mostly efficient. Scheduling was easy through Yelp. However, I would've liked to have been given a heads up if the moving team didn't start first thing in the morning, that they would not be able to finish. The moving window was 11am-1pm. The team arrived around 12:30pm with a team of 4. After the 1st load, I was told at 7:30-8pm, that it would be too late for their team to finish the move. That was quite upsetting to find out on the day of. Pros: Very fast in packing large furniture items. Movers will pack and provide large boxes (with deposit) until returned. Fragile items were packed extremely well. Hourly rate had good value and upfront transparency on tip expectations. Cons: Most of the team doesn't understand English. If you communicate information to the one team member who does understand English, it doesn't necessarily get relayed to the rest of their crew. A 3 person team returned the next day and completed our move. read more

Easy to communicate with. They're clear on the pick up instructions and check in after the move is done to make sure everything is good 2. They are affordable. My husband was referred to Brother Movers by one of his clients for our move from San Francisco to the Peninsula -- and it was hands down the best decision ever. This was my second big move in life, and I can confidently say they exceeded expectations. They showed up right on time with three movers and were QUICK. Like... lightning quick. We were moving out of a 3-bedroom + 1 office and we have a LOT of stuff. I was still packing up my office for maybe 20 minutes, and somehow they had already cleared out the dining room and living room. We're talking big furniture too like including an 8-person dining table!! Anything that wasn't boxed but we wanted to bring, they came prepared with extra boxes and all the materials. I still don't know how they folded our Purple king mattress and had one person single-handedly dolly it down the stairs They were extremely careful, which I really appreciated; considering we lived on the 2nd floor of a typical narrow SF duplex with tight pathways. They wrapped everything properly, maneuvered everything with care, and not a single item was scratched or damaged. They also drove at a safe speed to our new place to make sure everything stayed secure. We moved on a Monday, so the hourly rate was lower (I believe it was $140/hour for 3 movers). There's a mandated tip fee per hour and a flat truck fee, but honestly, with how efficient and careful they were, it was money very well spent. Especially to save my back. Hopefully we don't have to move again anytime soon, but if we do, we 100% know who we're calling. read more

Process was a breeze with over the phone quote, the brothers came did a short scan and plan then got straight to work and let me tell you they got down to business and did not waste no time. There was this one guy lifted our 3 seater couch with recliners so you know its heavy by himself like it was nothing to wrap it. The brothers work fast and efficient. They do not speak English so very difficult to communicate but ill take it because they understood how to handle and care for our things such as the TV is plugged in and tested before taken and when arrived to the new place turned on and tested before signing it off for liability. Initially we were assigned non English speaking movers but I just couldn't work with them and notified that this was not what I signed up for. They immediately accommodated and sent English speaking movers in an hour. They worked till 9.30 pm with no complaints.
