We had been recommended to call Great Lakes Pet Emergencies. So that's what we did. As I was explaining the situation to the woman on the phone, she cut me off and said "well we're still seeing patients from 5:00 pm. we wouldn't have time to treat him". I said "okay I understand, do you have any recommendations for any other hospitals that I could call, because you are the 6th hospital we've tried." She stated "well honestly that just the reality of emergency medicine this close to a holiday so I can't help you" I work in a vet hospital myself. I understand having bad days where you're backed up like no other and everyone is upset with you. I'm not upset they couldn't see us. It was late and they had more than enough going on. However, the lack of empathy and professionalism that was used on this phone call was astounding to me, especially given that I had just explained to her that my cat was actively dying in my arms. I could never imagine addressing a crying pet parent with such a lack of compassion, even on the busiest of days. I certainly hope that they treat the patients who actually do receive care at their hospital with a gentler hand.

I contacted the owner Angie and she returned my call promptly and immediately booked a ride to get my girl to the vet the next day. The the driver Don was very kind, amiable, and pleasant. He helped me to get my reluctant kitty into her carrier and was on time picking me up for the appointment. This service waits for you while your pet is being cared for and drives you home afterwards. They don't take advantage of grief like others local places seem to do. Most of the time, I just had the service that the vet office used, but when the price was around $500 was quoted when I made the appointment for Oscar, I decided that I had time to look around because I had a few days. I found them and they were local so I called them after seeing their website and the prices. I got someone who had lost their beloved pet and got into the business because of the charges other charge. I let them know who Oscar's vet was and they told me that they have picked up from them before. The vet office had no problem and since I had to go in after work, they could pick Oscar up quickly. I picked up the ashes but they will deliver them also. You can even drop off your pet. They explained everything and even made extra copies of nose print and paws prints for Oscar's other mom. All for just under $200. Since I just adopted a 17 year old cat, I will probably need their services again. I will use them gladly.

PLEASE NOTE: This was a non Emergency situation…read more Yesterday I took my cat to Wilson's Veterinary after my local vet ran out of answers and recommended a specialist. It was our first time there, and I was pleasantly surprised they even offer Sunday appointments. We saw Dr. Garrett, who was incredibly kind, thorough, and genuinely attentive. She reviewed his entire file before meeting us and actually listened to the details we shared about his behavior. We discussed a clear path forward, and he's now scheduled for surgery to have most of his teeth removed. I appreciate that this location has 18 veterinarians, several of whom specialize in dental care, and that they handle everything in-house, including blood work. So far, I'm very happy with the quality of care and professionalism at this veterinary hospital. I'll post a separate review after his surgery.

On Tuesday night in the middle of the worst night of our lives, we called Blue Pearl. We had called…read more6 other hospitals prior (because they were closer to us) in need of immediate care for our cat with FIP. The person on the phone heard about the symptoms our cat was having, and expressed to us that they were currently pretty slammed. She said "but you know what if you can get here we'll get him on supportive care right away". We jumped in the car immediately. We arrived and were immediately seen. Every member of the staff treated our boy like their own. They were so gentle, compassionate, and sensitive to the difficulty of the situation. Unfortunately at the end of the evening we had to euthanize our boy. The doctor was direct with us about whether he thought hospitalization would actually give our boy comfort or if it would just be prolonging his pain. And again after making that awful but necessary decision, every staff member was kind, gentle, and sensitive despite also being very busy with other important emergencies. From the very beginning we were comforted and taken care of by these veterinary professionals. It was still one of the hardest moments of our lives, but the staff made it as easy and comfortable as they possibly could have.

There is alot to take in , and the employees are great and take the time to explain what they do and answer questions. If you get the opportunity to take this tour, you will have fun and learn alot. This tour was almost 2.0 hrs.

Luna came into the vet lethargic, not being able to walk properly and she also had some tooth pain. we told the vet how she was acting and they brought her back and checked her out. we agreed on doing blood work and that took about 4 hours (that's fine) and we got a call when she was almost done to come back so we did. the receptionist kept telling us the doctor knew we were there and a hour and a half later the doctor brought us back and said "sorry, nobody told me you were here" so not sure wtf was going on there. the doctor told us they gave her pain medicine and checked her vitals and that everything looked good and normal and her bloodwork was normal. they gave us gabapentin for her and sent us home and said she will be lethargic but overall she will be fine. so tell me why, monday, april 13th we take her to another vet who looked at Luna for 5 minutes, noticed Lunas back legs were cold and finally said "yup, it most likely is blood clots" and we had to make a decision. spend 10k on treatment just for her to never be the same again or put her down right then and there. all day sunday we could have spent the entire day with Luna and cuddling her. instead she was stuck in a hospital who truly didn't care about her. if you have any concern for your animal please go to the Southside Animal Hospital. they were amazing
