The woman at the front desk talking to her screen I said are you talking to me because you're not looking at me she said yes. My entire experience was terrible, the veterinarian came in for maybe one minute and looked at my animal and prescribed one medication for his eyeballs. I've dealt with this situation over a dozen times With my French bulldog, it's allergy related and never have I NOT been prescribed pills to help them get better internally. The place was filthy. They put you in a room with no ventilation and it smells like dog. I took a photo of underneath the pad they have you sit on, the dog hair and cat hair has been there for months. I asked to see the veterinarian after she only prescribed one medication and I was told I was not Able to because she was seeing other patients. They demanded payment from me as they were running a test on my dog, not having the results of the test already prescribing the medication and demanding that I pay for it. The best I can say about this place, was that they were open when we needed them, I would recommend spending the extra money, and going to Michigan State. They took a few measures that allowed my dog to be comfortable before he could see his regular, and very competent veterinary staff. $2000 dollars later, and the diagnosis was incorrect, and handled inappropriately. They did send info over to primary vet, that was nice. MSU handled the labs. Signed, someone who has extensive experience with vet care and high level of care rescue dogs. read more

Fantastic staff and experience! The veterinarian was extremely knowledgeable and certainly ensured only absolutely necessary treatment was performed. Our family dog's issue was resolved after 6 short hours of the planned treatment plan of care; when we were initially planning on 24-36 hours. We were pleasantly surprised when the veterinarian called us at 8:00pm to provide us with a detailed update and informed us that we could come pick up our family dog now to save some money. This place is horrible!!! I brought my female in she had to have an emergency c-section. We brought one puppy with us that she had . They told us they could not keep the puppy with her they said they don't do newborn pups they said they could look at the pup for 130.00 . But they can't treat it. So they did her surgery and after she was done the technician brought my dog to my car picked my dog up and told my husband this is how you pick her up so you don't hurt her. My husband was like omg she is bleeding. The technician.told him ow if you want I can take her in and put a bandage on her. And check to make sure everything is ok. so she took her back in came out a hour later with her Still gushing blood. threw the bandage and said you need to get her checked for a bleeding disorder. We're like okay!!! But what about now? She told us to just keep her calm and she will be fine and call in the morning and send a picture. so we called them back like two hours later she is still bleeding. they told us to take her to another vet because that can't do anything else for her. THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! I didn't want to have to write this, but there was no response over email for a resolution. I brought my cat in for what I thought may have been poisoning, but it turned out that he had gotten into a fight. The facility left me waiting alone in a room without an update for over 2 hours. I talked to the front desk twice, and they not only couldn't give me a time frame -- they also were in the middle of a shift change and didn't bother to inform me. I was left waiting on news for hours and was obviously very worried at that time. Finally, a vet came to speak to me and suggested x-rays because they were worried about internal damage and broken bones. I had not gotten to see him before this, so I had no idea his state. I thought the idea that he had been hit by a car was a little absurd, considering they had found clear bite marks on him. I think it's a pretty manipulative tactic to even suggest such a thing. Afterwards, I felt very misguided and misled about his actual condition. I approved the x-rays under what I believe to be manipulative and misguided advice from the clinic. I did not have the money to be doing all this work, which ended up being completely negative. On top of this, they let me drive all the way back home -- considering I had been waiting there for hours -- just to call me back right when I got home. I was never offered a payment plan and am still trying to figure out how to cover the bill, and my cat is still having issues that I now can't afford treatment for. Not only did they not solve the issue, it actually became worse. They gave him a round of antibiotics and sent me home with enough pain meds to last a month, even though they advised I only give them to him for 3 days. They put no wraps on the wounds -- just left them shaved and open -- and suggested a cone, which no matter how many times I tried, he will not tolerate. Please, never take your pets here if you have a choice -- and especially if it's not an emergency. The vets were very kind, but the way this place is run is absolutely horrible. There were 3 people at the front desk who are not versed in care that I could tell. Not that I would expect them to be, but I would hope that they would have someone with expertise to give you updates. I had maybe 3 in this all-day ordeal. All of this totaled nearly $900 -- ultimately for antibiotics and pain medication that they overprescribed, and they even sent me name brand, which are extremely expensive. I'm left with a huge bill, a sick cat, and now an issue I may be forced to take to the BBB, the Veterinary Board, and who knows what else. Don't go here unless it's your only choice. read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service ive ever had. We called ahead of time and were told 1 1/2 hour wait. were there about a half hour later because of the distance. Was impressed by the cleanliness and the decor. That was the end of the good stuff. We sat ignored for over 3 hours. While we were there there was one person ahead of us. When he got in an hour later I thought we should be in soon, Nope. After over 3 hours we asked the desk people how long it was going to be, she pried herself away from her phone long enough to tell us it would be a few more hours. One of the 3 front desk people could have came over and kept us updated on the time situation. Why there were 3 people working the desk is anyones guess. I wish there is an option to give negative stars. They don't even deserve one star. Our dog has an emergency and MSU emergency clinic sends us here as an alternative. They push us to fill in the form before w me arrive, just to be called back 30 min after arrival (while we are waiting) asking for the same question I already wrote in the form. Imagine you are anxious for he dog, take care of him, driving , and also try to fill in the form. What is that kind of urgent when they did not even have diagnosis for us 2 hours after arrival (read below). After checking in our dog and waiting in the car for 1.5 hours, we called back to follow up just to be told our dog is next. The x-ray has been done but the doctor hasn't exams our dog. Two minutes later when we said we would like to take our dog home and we won't pay the exam fee because according to her, the doctor hasn't examed the dog, she suddenly said the examed has been done, and yet delayed on the process of checking out our dog because "we have other emergencies". Fortunately our dog is doing okay. Otherwise the 1.5 hour wait would have killed him. Also, what if he dies while waiting for the exam? Unless your hobby is to wait in the car, otherwise prevent this place at all cost. read more

We were at a loss this evening with our poor sick 4 month old kitten, and they were so incredibly helpful with finding out what was wrong, and what route we should go with him. I wish I could give negative stars. Was diverted from MSU to this hell on earth clinic. Arrived with my dog in at 9:30 pm who had rectal bleeding/ cyst. They took her back after 4.5 hours with no word I went to the front desk to ask where and how my dog that was bleeding profusely was only to be told " they'll talk to you when there is news. Finally at 4:30 a.m. my son went to the lobby where there was no one working or patients waiting, After 7 hrs with no communication my son had to call twice and threaten to call police to get then to bring the dog out who was still bleeding and had not been treated. They managed to take my $130 prior to seeing anyone I didn't get a receipt and no vet ever came out to talk to me. Please never take a pet here they could die before getting any attention . The staff is very incompetent and rude, sadly when I got her back to MSU the next day she had to be euthanized due to lack of treatment and blood loss. First visit at night my dog checked in and were ignored for 3 hours while we waited. I was worried and crying. We went home. Returned the next day because my vet said it was my only option. Theoretically they helped my dog. I think? So thankful for that. However: Communication: POOR Customer Service: POOR Never talked to the vet surgeon post operatively. I missed the call and when I called back was told to "listen to the message". I sat there for hours and really wanted to dust the window sills and blinds and clean the kids toy room. Ladies at desk did a lot of whispering which was rude. They should be circulating the lobby, engaging, offering support and empathy. Not scrolling on their phones. Had questions the next day about my bill. Called. Was told the office manager would review. Weeks later I called back due to no return call. Also, vet techs are vet techs. Not nurses. On 1.21.25 I came in with concern for Octavia's health. I was informed of a policy that separates sick animals from their human. I understand that the policy is in place because a lot of animals will remain calmer away from their human when it comes to medical care.  I had expressed that my service dog just passed and I hadn't had the means to get Octavia serviced yet because she needs a little extra training still. I expressed that we're never separated and she acts as an assist dog to me even though she is not officially registered yet. I was respectfully asking for any level of understanding. The woman at the front desk began taunting me with sarcasm and laughing at me while I was being transparent about our situation. She attempted to refuse service because I stated that I didn't agree with the policy and would write in about it in hopes others with animals that truly assist and are not a danger, be accommodated. At this point I had already been compliant with the policy and had already handed over the leash to Octavia. Again, I was in no way aggressive. I did state, in poor judgement, that I felt the policy, while recognizing it was not the staffs fault, was ass backwards when it comes to some cases. As previously stated, I DO understand why such policy is in place.   After stating I would like to write in to whoever is in charge of policy in attempt to advocate for others with serviceable medical needs, the woman at the front desk started taunting me and said I can take my business elsewhere and said she was going to refuse to see Octavia. At this point my anxiety is high from this woman and the knowledge that my girl was going to be away for a bit (which I complied with). I was holding back tears and trying to stay conscious (a reason why she is always with me) and said I didn't agree with her choice and that I just need my girl to feel better. She went to the back and left the manager under the impression I was yelling at her and causing a stink. If you view the CCTV camera in the lobby closest to the coffee you can see that was not the case. I had already agreed to comply with the policy and handed the leash to Octavia over to someone else (a woman that was very kind to me).  After quietly having an anxiety attack in the lobby  and trying to maintain consciousness on the phone with my mom because my medications are not with me, I was reunited with Octavia and I was grateful for that. I asked the vet assistant that came into see me to please relay my gratitude to whoever let her come back to me and I was met with the same kind of attitude as the woman at the front desk. She made a snarked face at me and told me about a zero-tolerance policy. Confused as to why this was her rebuttal to me expressing gratitude, I told her I was not doing anything harmful and suggested reviewing her CCTV footage. I reiterated that I understood that policy is above the heads of anyone directly staffed at this location and they were just following rules. I was kind and calm and she was also treating me as if I was a problem much like the woman at the front desk.  This is only my 3rd time at this location over the course of a decade. However, this is the first time I have ever been met with such unprofessionalism, especially when dealing with people that are already feeling heavy emotions from their babies being sick or injured.  I will not be returning to this clinic after today because of how I was wrongly treated. However, I would like to set up a professional meeting with someone directly in charge of policy to discuss my concerns. I was refused contact information from staff when I requested and quite frankly no longer have capacity to ask anyone else because I am already feeling as if I am walking on eggshells here.  I also am aware that this is the email for this clinic and that there is a chance of a similar response or no follow-up at all. I will be sending this same email to a few other resources until I am able to find the appropriate person(s) as well as sharing this on your review pages to alert others with similar situations or of the possibility of ADA incompliance and/or taunting responses to valid questions/concerns.  I hope to hear back from someone soon on this matter. I am a passionate equality advocate for humans AND animals and I am well versed in ADA complacency. My cat had a traumatic injury and the staff was very understanding and made her comfort an initial priority. The lobby was comfortable and coffee was a bonus. The estimate for the service was given ahead of time so I was not surprised after her treatment. The vet did an excellent job and explained everything very well. I had been to MSU and it felt less personal there. Definitely appreciate the 24hr care as well. Worth the half hour drive for me. read more

Do NOT take your pet here. I took my severely sick therapy dog here a few weeks ago. We sat and waited in a room for 3 hours with bloody vomit and diarrhea, as she was not considered an emergency. When they finally saw her, they did recommend keeping her overnight while I couldn't afford the hefty bill I requested doing IV's and sending her home on meds. During check out, I was NOT provided any discharge papers and was given VERBAL directions for medication by a young boy at the counter. He told me NOT to give her any meds until the following morning. She was peppy when I got her home after the IV and would have eaten but I followed his directions. The next morning, she's lethargic and wont eat...the discharge papers had come in the middle of the night saying to give medications that evening. Wish I would of known that. We ended up taking her to Michigan State (great vet) but sadly, it was too late. Her heart stopped that night from her heart murmur that Greater Lansing didn't even hear. Maybe things could of been different with a correct diagnosis and correct information and the medication given at correct times. So after Roxanne was laying on the couch most of the day yesterday she emerged with a fever and barely able to hold her head up. Called our vet a few minutes before closing and they said give her some over the counter meds. So we tried and she gagged on canned food and tried to use a syringe to get water into her. We decided at this point to take her to the emergency vet in Williamston, Greater Lansing Veterinary Center. The front desk person was very cold and uncaring. They take her back on our leash, non chock type. 15 minutes later they bring her back with their choke leash and ours in hand. Finally they take us back to the vet she proceeds to tell us several times that she is over weight "look at her jowls" Whatever, I know this but she has been dieting and has lost about 6lbs. She then tells us about all the tests they want to run and she may have to stay the night. I spoke up right away with no she will go home tonight I have taken care of many sick animals. Her reply, "Well I have a veterary degree". Better believe that set me off but I kept my mouth shut. They bring it back an estimate so we can decide how we would like to proceed. Attending comes in with a bill of $800+ and I look it over and my thoughts are let's start with blood work and we don't need a couple and we will decide on xrays after we see what the blood work shows us. About 45 minutes later they proceeded to tell us how liver 2 enzymes are very high and so is her cholesterol. They recommend that she stay the night. Now they come back with 2 estimates, one for $800 (this would send her home) and one for $3000+ and she would stay the night and have an ultrasound of her belly in the morning. I quickly said we were taking her home for the $800 and then realized that included tests we already paid for!!!! So we go to the counter to pay a second bill (for the correct amount because I fixed it). They gave us 2 antibiotics, nothing for pain or swelling of her throat. This morning she is not eating like she normally does nor does she go and clean up Kahunas bowl. Off to our vet, Pinecrest. Dr Kelly looks at her and the discharge paperwork and says look at her jowls! Humm, saliva gland infection. She tells us that her liver levels and her cholesterol levels are NORMAL for her age, 11. Now we are home and Roxanne is becoming her vocal self after 1 dose of her anti-inflammatory meds! So Dr. Aldrich were you absent the day they talked about swollen glands? Man I would hate to think about what would have happened to our baby girl had we left her with them last night! Never again will I go back! This place is mediocre at best. They took my dog in the middle of the night. Suggested we do X-rays and even though I told them her pain meds weren't working all they prescribed was a muscle relaxer. They said call back if you need anything and to keep her on strict cage rest and not to move her at all, not a problem. Fast forward to this morning she's still in a ton of pain and I call them and they tell me that even though they've already seen her it's a different doctor now and they can't call the old one or recommend anything else for treatment and we need to bring her in again- they just told me not to move her. Don't waste your money- go to msu or wait for your real vet these people care first about the bottom line then your animal. Super disappointed. read more

This place needs to shut down! They are rough with animals, lie over the phone saying you can be with your animal while they are in an oxygen tank, and do not care at all. RUN RUN RUN! These vets are desensitized and lack compassion on every level. They stated they tried to get blood drawn and my cats tongue turned blue when she was already having trouble breathing which means they grabbed her neck so tight! Extremely disappointed & will never go back - 7:15 pm arrival 8:54 pm - called to check on him, they said they just finished up some critical care situations & would see Toby soon. 8:59 pm- vet called to recommend tests 9:23 pm- staff called to explain cost & said test would take 30-60 minutes 10:00 pm- called to check, still waiting on results 10:41 pm- called to check on him, still waiting for test results, takes about an hour (at this point it's been an hour and twenty minutes) 11:26 pm- it's now been 4 hours 11 minutes, I called and asked them to bring Toby out so we could take him home. 11:35 pm- all of a sudden the vet has the results, I asked them again to bring him out 11:44 pm- they called to tell us charge was $570 11:49 pm- husband called from his phone, asked them to bring him out Midnight- we got Toby back 4 hours and 45 minutes later & no treatment was even done. Save yourself the hassle and go to MSU. MSU provides way better service and is much more professional. Day and night difference. read more

I had the best experience here under the circumstances.The staff is so kind and we felt very cared for when we had to bring our cat here to be euthanized. She had severe renal failure and suddenly (on a weekend so our normal vet was closed) she was less responsive and uninterested in eating or drinking. We knew it was time to let her pass peacefully. They have a private room with a couch to say your goodbyes. They gave us a button to alert them when we were ready. And they made a paw print keepsake of her paw. read more

We had to take our pet here in the middle of the night not so long ago. We had never been here before and was kind of surprised to find it was curbside only. Is it a covid fear? A middle-of-the-night psycho people fear? The parking lot was busy for being in the middle of the night so we did expect a wait. I filled out the online registration form and shortly after I submitted it, they came out for our pet. We were out there for a good three hours. THREE HOURS. Virtually NO communication until closer to the end. They wanted to do bloodwork. They wanted to do bloodwork which would've tripled the bill. I would have no issues doing it had I had more communication witha the actual doctor where I could've asked questions and explain why we brought out pet there to begin with. I had a similar experience with MSU with a pet. SAME THING happened and they were able to dx the pet with just an exam based on a few physical tests. I should've just taken out pet to MSU this time, as well. Fortunately, since it was almost daylight, I knew I could call our own vet and talk with them (with an ACTUAL doctor). It took nearly another hour for them to wrap it up and deliver our pet back. The trip wasn't a complete loss. They did elaborate on a few pre-existing condition (details we did not know), but that really didn't change anything nor did it give us answers on the incident we went in for. AND YOU NEED TO RUN!! ...... . Then, I decided I wanted to know more about this vet that saw out pet. I googled her name. What I found was jaw-dropping. They were involved in a dog "theft" back in 2021. A puppy was treated for a car accident. They kept the puppy claiming it was an oral relinquishment. The owner (Nelms) insisted the lawyer refer to her as "DOCTOR". As a veterinarian, I have a greater appreciation for veterinary medical expertise than those not in the veterinary field. They did a fantastic job with emergency surgery on my dog with cancer; they were caring and informative and I would definitely refer patients to them with no reservations. I visited the veterinary hospital right in the midst of Covid restrictions and they provided excellent service in the face of the hurricane of stress and mandates. read more

I was referred here after MSU deemed my kitten's injuries non-critical and said they didn't have time to treat her. My own vet normally handles emergencies, and I had called MSU ahead of time, and they said to come in. It's an hour and a half drive, so I wasn't happy when they said they couldn't treat her. I had a difficult time getting there, as my map app gave the wrong directions, but the receptionist was very nice and did her best to help me. I'm not from Lansing, and I was flustered and worried about my kitten. The staff here was amazing! It turns out my kitten actually had broken her leg and needed surgery, and after the blow off at MSU, I'm not confident they would have done X-rays and caught the broken leg, so I was grateful they referred me here. I felt really guilty that this accident had happened, but the staff was very kind and assured me it was indeed an accident, and made me feel a little better (I still feel guilty though). They discharged her with a lot of pain meds, as I wanted to see if my own vet could do the surgery, and assured me if he couldn't, I could bring her right back in, and if she had any complications overnight to call them right away. I own a dog daycamp, and will definitely recommend their services to my clients, as this issue comes up a lot, and a lot of clients have had difficult experiences with other ER vets. read more

Waited for diagnosis 2.5 hours. Vet didn't find anything so she discharged- however it took another 2 hours after the diagnosis to get my cat back. The car next to me pulled in 1.5 hours after me and are now getting their dog back. When I asked about the long time, the staff got snippy with me suggesting I was lucky since others wait 5 hours to treat an emergency. I explained that there was nothing found and that I was willing to help them if they are short-staffed by coming in to Hager my pet. She then tasked how I wanted to pay. I would never recommend you send your pet here. we paid almost 1500 for X-rays and fluids. at the end of our dogs time here, they told us we had to pay 6,000 for surgery or euthanize him. if we couldn't afford the surgery they told us we could surrender our dog to someone who could pay for his care. we got him from the vet before midnight so we wouldn't pay another 1000 for fluids. the next day, just 10 hours later, the item stuck in his body came out the other end at no cost whatsoever. Do not trust their judgement and would never recommend them to anyone. terrible, expensive, experience. vet for the rich only. read more

They saved my puppy's life. I know about the wait times, but I was sent away by another emergency hospital earlier in the night, despite the situation my dog was in. They got my dog in within a few hours, monitored him closely and kept me updated on his condition, even when a storm took the power out. They even allowed me to come visit him on day 2 so I could spend time with him myself prior to his surgery to remove a squeaker lodged in his small intestine. I called ALOT. Took my dog here for bloating, called before hand and explained symptoms, also filled out the online form before hand. Was only allowed to do curbside (which is fine), waited 2 hours for x- rays when told 4 times "the doctor is doing them right now". The x rays came back fine. The doctor started off telling me my dog was fine and still wanted to play yet gave me one singular option of keeping him overnight to do an IV for a charge of 2,100. I declined and said I wanted to take him home, monitor and do fluids at home. The doctor told me that was an option for 100 after telling me there were no other options.... Waited an hour for discharge instructions when there was 1 other animal there and 5+ workers. When we called the office back to ask when he was getting discharged (upon the doctor telling us there was "only one option") we were told the doctor was still reviewing the x-ray results. Total lack of communication, doctors are disrespectful and hung up the phone after asking to place me on a brief hold to talk about pricing. read more

If I could leave no star I would. I will never go back to this place EVER AGAIN! I called them Monday and asked them if they took walk ins because I'm a new dog mom and my puppy is only 12 weeks old and is having trouble breathing and is choking and coughing a lot. They said they take walk ins and to bring him in. So me and my boyfriend drove 50 minutes to get to them and when I got there we weren't allowed inside and we had to park in a numbered spot and call them when we arrived. So I did just that. They told me to fill out paper work on my phone which i did. And that they would be with us soon. They told us it was busy but they would take him in asap. A lady came out and just told asked us what was going on and we explained . She never looked at him or ever tried to touch him and feel him to even see if he was okay. No one at all let us come inside to even just take his vitals to see if his heart or lungs were okay. Which is unacceptable. If I tell you something is wrong my dog and you are busy the least you could do is check his heart and lungs I'm not asking for much but to just make sure those are okay before telling me to sit and wait for someone to come look at him. We waited 3 1/2 HOURS!!! I called them and asked them how much longer because I was worried about my dog . They said it would still be a while because there was still 6 people ahead of me. I asked them if I could leave to go down the road to get something to eat ( me and my boyfriend hadn't eaten all day) and they said if I left I would loose my place in line. So we waited. Another 20 minutes and I said F this I know something is wrong with my puppy and we left. We drove all the way to Ann Arbor to go to another vet. They took him back checked his heart and lungs and did a X-ray. Come to find out my poor baby had a screw in his stomach that he must of swallowed while he was outside. That screw tore up his esophagus which is why he was coughing and the vet told me that it hadn't passed through his small intestine yet which she was glad because she didn't know if the screw would fit or pass through without poking a whole and hurting him more. So they got him to vomit it out thankfully and now my poor puppy is recovering and is on medication to help his throat. But if it wasn't for me trusting my instincts and going somewhere else who knew what would've happened if I sat there and waited. I will never go back again and don't recommend anyone going there unless u want to sit in your car for hours and not have anyone come out to even check on you. It was ridiculous and overall unprofessional . Never again. DO NOT GO HERE !!!!! read more

You really can't beat the friendly staff. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Greeting each person that comes in. Sure, wait times are long, but that's expected at any ER vet clinic. They have to help the most urgent first, but they are accommodating and kind, and that's important. read more
