My dog had hardened tear stain and when I asked if he was bathed the response was the his face was washed and some dogs submit more tear stain than others. His nails may have be cut a tiny bit, the were jagged and long. His ears were not cleaned out. He was scooting his bottom on the carpet 2 days later so I am sure his anal glands were not taken care of. Very disappointed with the "grooming" job that was done on Ben this time and doubt that I will ever go back.

They had no one to do the appt. I asked what number they called? She said the one on the card. She pulled out a card and read a number I never heard of. There was no card for Lizzie so we started a new card. She said she also facebooked me which isn't possible as my acct is locked up tighter than San Quentin unless I friend you. So.. we make another appt and I show up. The girl working was suprised to see me. She didn't have us on the books but agreed to do Lizzie. We got home and Liz dragged her butt through the driveway and yard so I gloved up and emptied her glands that were extremely full. She was sliding and falling flat on her face on our hardwood floors. Her nails were long. I called to find out if they were trimmed at all and was assured they were. I said they were too long. They said they weee done. I waited a week and returned. I explained the situation to a really nice girl working there. I told her I can do the glands even though I paid to have them done. But I would next time like the nails cut shorter so she can walk. Sonya can out very upset. ( Owner). She was not happy. She explained that this was one weeks growth. Her nails need to be cut every 3 weeks. ( my appointments are every 4 weeks). She said that it is a compounded problem because Lizzie is obese. This is very true and I explained that we are working on another medication for her thyroid with our vet. This poor girl eats less than our cat. She continued to cut and cut one too short and it bled and she said " see.. that's what happens!" I apologized to Sonja and said I didn't come to upset you and I'm more than willing to pay you $5 to trim her one weeks growth. Obviously you are upset with me. I just need my dog to be able to walk without sliding and wiping out all over the floor. She slid down the stair on her face. She was short, curt and almost shoved me out. I will be suprised if I don't have my next appointments cancelled. Before this we were extremely pleased and refereed many people and new people to Midland to Zach's. I funny when I as a customer felt as though I was calming the owner. lol.

That said, if your dog puts on a show for you, and is calmer in a back room on a grooming table, or is easily distracted by a busy lobby, because dog, then this may not be a good fit with regard to walk in nail trims. Other things to know - the bathhouse/ groomery is located in the back of some commercial buildings, adjacent to an apartment complex. The city has lost it's mind, and refuses to allow any new sign-age for businesses and there are some very tall thick hedges that obscure any view of the place so it is hard to find but it IS there. Just drive around to the right or better yet park and walk.

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE!…read more I am not a pet person, first experience ever handling a dog. Brought a small dog here as a favor. I arrived to the dog owner's house 30 mins before the appointment. The dog was understandably scared and apprehensive. Let him outside to use the bathroom (he didn't go) but could not get him inside using calls, treats, or toys. Could not figure out the leash or collar that included the front legs so I picked up the dog and put him in my car. Drove all the way to this grooming shop and waited 20 minutes for the lady to finish answering a customer's questions regarding their pet. Meanwhile, I am holding a shaking dog, terrified that the dog is going to go to the bathroom on me or in this shop. I wait patiently even though the dog is getting heavy and shaking because he's scared, but I have no leash and can't put him down. FINALLY am helped and am turned away for being late. I explain the situation and am told sorry we book appointments every 15 minutes and you were late. I explain the situation, that it's my fault, that I am doing this as a favor and it's not my dog, that I am not a dog person, and am ignored and turned away. Head to my car, think about all the wasted time, and the fact that I now have to take the dog back to the owner's house. Clock says 10:25am and I know I couldn't have been more than 5-10 minutes late because I was in there waiting for them to finish with the previous customer. Completely understand their policy but as a first-time customer and non-pet person entering with a scared shaking dog only to be turned away after patiently waiting there while holding the dog for a long time, I was absolutely livid. I will tell any pet owner I ever run into in Bay City to avoid this place and to send their business elsewhere. I'll also make sure I mention this story any time I hear anyone mention a pet.

The people working there are very helpful and nice. I encourage you to check out your local shelter before going to a breeder. The kill rate in this shelter is over 70% and they have such great animals here who need a second chance! I got to meet many lovely animals here, including many Pit Bulls who were more sweet than mean.

Empty water dishes and I saw almost 6 cats in one cage. I saw some kitty's sleeping in their liter box, that is NOT normal. It's so sad and devastating. I really wish I could take them all home. I feel like these animals deserve better care. I've meet lovely animals here. They all deserve good homes. Please please please check your local humane society before going to a breeder.
