My friend was denied care today because the ignorant receptionist assumed that what was wrong with her, without even looking, was a dermatologist-related issue. Also, she has Epilepsy. My friend conveyed she did not feel well, but the "receptionist" didn't want to listen. All she cared about was trying to get insurance from my friend, and then when she did and saw she had Medicare, suddenly she changed her tune and said that there was no doctor available who could help her. Around 1:45 today I went into the Emergimed, and asked if I could see a doctor about a specific issue I was having with a cut I had on my knee. Also, I felt faint. After waiting about five minutes, a girl came to the window. I did not get names, but I can give a general description - she is about 30, I told her I'd like to see a doctor regarding that issue and that I was not feeling well. She informed me there was no Dermatologist on site. I informed her this was not a dermatology-related issue, but apparently she didn't care. She didn't even look at my leg. I told her I was not feeling well, and that's probably from this infection I had on my leg that I wanted a doctor to look at. She just looked at me with the deer caught in the headlights. Please keep in mind I did not feel well, It hurt to stand, and she's just staring at me. I said I'd been there before I said "isn't this an urgent care", to which she replied "no, this is a private doctor's office". I am completely baffled, and she was not being facetious. She asked for ID, which I gave her, and told me I hadn't been there in over 3 years, and I had to fill out a form, which I did, and then when she asked for insurance, she had me email my Medicare card. This girl said "oh..you have Medicare?" I said yes. She paused, and said "I don''t know if we take Medicare, and I don't know if the doctor can see you!!" I know damn well they take Medicare! Finally, she said "let me seeeee if a doctor is available to help" (which is weird, whereas she just finished telling me they are not an urgent care place, as people are in the waiting room, and the name of the place is Emergimed). AVOID this office-If zero stars was possible we would give that. My father was a patient here from 2012-2016. We needed a letter recently confirming that he was a patient for immigration purposes. They tell me that they could only do the letter if we pay a balance from over a decade ago which was incurred due to their incorrect billing of his insurance. They wanted $1100+ immediate payment to write a letter! This is not a good place to go! My father regretted going there in 2012, 2016 and needless to say I can see why. The level of care is horrible! I've been going to Emergimed for years now, it's conveniently open from Monday through Sunday so if you're going in for something routine you do not need to take off from work to get it done. The doctors here are quite stable and have been in this location for years - a few years back I had bronchitis and they were able to preform lung tests and take x-rays all within one visit, something your typical doctors office would not be able to manage. One major con is the waiting area - it needs a huge update, some of the leather chairs have begun to rip. Also, while in the waiting room the staff that manages the window are usually quite rude / cold which could start your visit on an awkward leg. Pro huge parking lot and really great team of nurses and doctors. read more

To reiterate, I am very fortunate to have met Dr. Gillon as he truly cares about his patient's, where he takes preemptive action regarding the next steps, communicating directly and honestly to the patient. Based on my experiences, empirical observations, and professional opinion regarding Emergimed, the front desk staff is professional as they do their best to treat every patient with respect. In addition, the technicians are sharp and knowledgeable based on my experiences. At the end of the day and in my professional opinion, the main goal at Emergimed - from the front desk staff to the highly-trained technicians to the sharp physicians, especially Dr. Steven Gillon - is to relieve the patient of their ailment(s), for lack of a better phrase. If you want rude staff, this is the place to go, if you are really, really desperate. Been calling them for two weeks for an answer to a simple question and they never answered their phone. On the third week I finally got someone and asked why no one answered. Her response was, "Do you really want me to give you a long explanation because of COVID, etc.?" This place is an absolute joke. Came in for an MRI in extreme pain and even after making that clear it took 40 minutes to be seen. This is after they called the morning of to change my appointment. The front desk staff was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. Giving a second star purely because the MRI tech was very nice when I started to panic a bit going into the very small mri machine. It has now been a little over a week since my MRI and I've called and left 3 messages with billing to get an itemized recent for insurance reimbursement with no call back. I came here over a week ago for a fever, sore throat, and loss of hearing in my ear. I waited a bit, but nothing unusually long - and was diagnosed with an ear infection. I'm now back 10 days later to have my follow up. My appointment was at 11, I came early and signed in. The wait time in the waiting area was 30 minutes, when I was finally brought to the exam room it was 1130. It's now 1230 and no doctor. I would never recommend this to anyone. Between the inexcusably long wait times (persons who arrived after me have seen the doctor before me), the rude staff, and the dirty exam rooms this is horrendous. I am in internal medicine and gastroenterology specialist. I started working at Emergimed with my new terrific colleagues in February 2021 in the middle of the Covid pandemic. The employees and the doctors, nurse practitioners and PAs worked all the way through the entire pandemic. The staff works very hard, cares a lot about each and every patient, are knowledgeable, work extended hours and are able to help out with almost any medical condition. We are first and foremost a primary care practice with sub specialists. The doctors are all bright, empathetic, caring and will explain your condition and discuss all of your results with you either in person or during a telehealth phone call. I urge you strongly to consider our practice for your acute and chronic primary care medical needs. I'm never coming here again for anything. I came in to have my short term disability papers signed by an MD, specifically from Dr.Malberg. I had an appointment and I was seen by the nurse who took my blood pressure and weight. I waited for almost 45 min for Dr.Malberg to attend to me. When I explained to her my situation (my anxiety and depression) and how I would like her to sign my company's forms so I can get short term disability, she refused to sign them. She said go see a psychiatrist. MIND YOU, i had a letter from a therapist who i've gone to for 6 months explaining my conditions and she completely disregarded my mental health because I wasn't seeing a psychiatrist. I was crying so much because I'm experiencing extreme burnout from my job and I want to take some time for my mental health. I appreciate my company allowing me to do this but all I needed was an MD to sign it, especially when I have a history with dr.malberg. She did not try to make me feel better at all and she told me to go see another doctor. I do not recommend anyone to go to her. Yes it does get as good as it gets. I been going here for well over twenty and have one heck of a large case folder. I read the remarks of others here and I would say there is the good and the bad. Most complain of long waits which I also sat though is normal in any urgent care waiting. Sure I had some issues but most the time the service is great. I would say going there without an appointment and being treated and walking out treated is much faster then most hospital ER. Doctor C, M, and L, I would say do a great job, and will get answers to your issues before you're sent home. CAT Scan, MRI, X-Ray are some of their tools on sight just a few steps away. Generally same day scheduling. I moved away and now live 60 miles away, and I been to local clinic in my area which I laugh about and refuse to go to cause they are a joke compared to EmergMed. I would rather make the trip to Cliffside Park then use a JOINT around here, that is lucky to have a tongue depressor. EmgergMed is the next best thing to a serious Hospital ER. When you been to the best (EmergMed) anything less is an insult to considered what is good urgent care should be. read more

I went there for an emergency X-Ray around 9:30 am on Monday. I needed it done because I fell over the weekend. I waited for good 2 hours before I was in the room in the back. Didn't get out of the place until 2 pm. I was anxious but understood the long wait because 1) I was a walk in 2) it was on Monday. Went back there for an ultra sound two days later with 12pm appointment, I noticed the waiting room is long, sometimes you don't hear nurses calling your name so I sat right in front of the door where nurses call us. 30 minutes past, nothing. I figured my appointment was in the middle of the day so walk-ins maybe made it a bit later. An hour passed. A patient with 1pm appointment came and got called. I approached the receptionist how much longer I needed to wait and she said "oh, they are just getting your chart" without looking at anything as if she said it to shut me up or to avoid further question. 1:20, I approached again. The office manager this time asked what my name was and said "I thought you were already inside". I said I was sitting right in front of the office I would not have missed my name if called. Then she used the intercom to talk to the ultrasound specialist. "Oh, the ultrasound machine just got broken." Are you kidding me?! Doctors seem very nice and work with you well, they don't rush you. But the reason why I was there for an ultra sound was because the doctor I saw two days ago said he saw something "not too common" on my EKG. It turned out, the nurse who took my EKG entered my AGE WRONG - instead of 48, it was entered 28. What would have been "not too common" turned out "it should be ok" for my age. I thought I had a white coat syndrome but it's not the doctor who makes my blood pressure higher than normal every time I go there, but it's because of incompetent office workers up front! read more

I used to go here for many years. Really I was just too lazy to research and find a real doctor. Here's a list of my pros and cons: PROs: -They are right up the street for me -They have evening and weekend hours. -You don't need an appointment -I did like their female doctors and I really like their dematologist Dr. Hershenberg - I continue to go to her Cons: -You see a different doctor every time you visit if you are a walk-in -They own a lot of medical equipment and are very quick to use it and bill your insurance company - this is bad as it raises overall insurance rates ultimately (since someone has to pay for those tests!) and also you're being exposed to potentially unnecessary radiation from tests that I believe are not always necessary. -They are also quick to refer you to associated specialists in the building - sometimes this is fine but most of the time I've found those visits unnecessary -When I finally found a real doctor who I now am happy to call my PCP, it took months, literally months, to get them to release my medical records to my new doctor. -You don't get the proactive follow up you get from a normal PCP. They never call with test results - they want you to come in to get the results. Overall, if I were feeling really unwell, but think not quite sick enough for the emergency room, I'd go to them again, but I'll be more cautious of potentially unnecessary tests and then make an appointment to follow up with my PCP once the urgency of your issue subsides. Don't make the mistake of thinking they can substitute for a PCP. I still go to their dermatologist though - I've been others in the area and she's been by far my favorite. read more

I went here once after I experienced a nasty fall playing basketball. The injury looked pretty bad the next day with severe bruising all around my tailbone. My sister in law, who was an ER nurse, said I should have it checked out to make sure I didn't break anything or damage any organs. I took her advice and went to the only place around that I could get an appointment. What's the point of having an appointment if you are in the waiting room for an hour. They took X-rays and said I was fine. The Dr. even made a sexist comment about my sister in law who is female and simply worried about the injury. After a couple weeks the bruising slowly went away but the pain got worse. I schedule an appointment with an orthopedic doctor and he sent me to physical therapy. When I told him where I went after the injury, he rolled his eyes and said not doing anything about this can cause long term back issues. I should have went to a real ER instead of Emergimed. read more

I left Happened to run into Dr. Hamada at a local Walgreens. Mentioned the situation to him and said that's the ways it's been for 10 years and there's nothing we can do about it (Thanks, Doc.). Just called their office b/c they neglected to sent an MRI result to the orthopeadist. Was put on hold for 3 times and no one ever came back. When you do get to see the Dr. (for, maybe, 10 minutes) and you tell him of a sympton, all they do is recommend a specialist. Got to find a new primary. read more

The front desk is a bit iffy when you call. But, I find that the doctors are of very high quality. My wife is a medical professional (unaffiliated with Emergimed) and she also thinks highly of the quality of the medical care. On another note, regarding Dr. Levine (ophthalmology), I've also been to Dr. Levine, and found him to be very professional and found his personality to be just fine. Then she went on to tell me I should apply with a charity health insurance agency for low income people and told me she had no time to run any tests for me and could not help me. That I an better off going to the ER. I was made to wait hours again as a hostage for her to come back to the room to tell me what I owe for the visit. The doctors are knowledgeable but the staff is mostly apathetic, very long wait times even with an appointment, performing procedures not requested to collect the insurance money, and they attempted to over bill me and the insurance company. When I went to the receptionist to ask about what was going on, she got upset at me and gave me the worst attitude I've ever encountered at a doctor's office. I thought knowing one of the directors of this place might help me get an evaluation of my medical emergency- a scary swelling that had suddenly developed over my eye. Man was I wrong. The incredibly rude and nasty front desk staff told me to go elsewhere for help, as they were going to close in 40 minutes, and there was a line of patients already waiting. When I asked to speak to the doctor, who I knew vaguely from the neighborhood, they at first refused to call him to the front desk. When they finally relented, after I made a stink, he basically backed them up and urged me to go elsewhere (his only recommendation: a hospital emergency room). My girlfriend went here, because there was nowhere else she could be seen, for a sharp pain in her wrist. The office was filthy! In total, she was there for 4 hours. 3 hours of listening to office staff speaking on the phone to their relatives in Spanish- 30 minutes under the x-Ray machine "while they got it ready"- 27 minutes waiting in another office- and 2 or 3 minutes speaking to a doctor. That's not the worst of it. They gave her an illegible note to bring to her job saying that she could not use her left hand until she is seen again. My girlfriend's job needed something with a specific date on it. Forget it! She called the office, told a woman what she needed and was promised it would be done. Sounded Great- but it never happened. So she called the next day and spoke to the same woman. The woman explained that the reason that no fax was sent was because she couldn't find my girlfriend's medical file. So my girlfriend gave her the information again AND THEN ASKED THE WOMAN TO REPEAT THE INFORMATION- she had it all wrong again!!!! They FINALLY got it correct, but no fax wax ever sent. The woman also scheduled a follow-up appointment but never recorded that anywhere. I am all for people learning English as a second language- I just think that they should do that BEFORE they are put in charge of a medical office!
