I am beyond mind blown at the situation we have experienced over the last few weeks. We took our dog in to see Dr Beck because we believed she was limping due to a broken bone. He took 2 scans, told us it was a broken 4th metatarsal, and sent us home with medication. 2 days later, I took her back as there was no improvement. He did 2 additional scans. However, since we are not allowed in the building and they use an archaic system of handwritten notes and minimal communication, he took a picture of the scan with his phone and brought it outside to me. He told me there was a crack in the bone and showed it to me. There was also concerns about what looked like a completely severed bone in the scan. Turns out it was someone's finger who took the scan and we all laughed it off. More meds, and sent home. Another 2 days passed and she was not improving, we took her back for a laser treatment. He told my husband that our dog was playing us and she was completely fine. Even brought him inside to see she was faking. He did tell me that she had an orthopedic issue on her knee and he doesn't do orthopedic. I contacted another vet who does orthopedic and took her in to see them. I requested that her records be sent over and they were a mess. There is no proof that we have ever given her heart worm or flea and tick even though we purchased it from Emerywood. All of the notes are handwritten and hard to read. But worst of all the second set of scans is gone! They either didn't save them or deleted them intentionally. They told the new vet there was only one set of scans. I called to tell them that is not true and Dr Beck thought he was in the phone with someone at the vet... and started talking about me like I am making this up and he had already talked to me about it. I was so confused and told him that I remember a second set of scans, he again said nope and sent the original scans again. The new vet has now seen our dog 3 times, sedated her to take 20+ scans of her and is now keeping her overnight as 3 weeks later she has gotten nothing but worse. They said her toe was never broken, that there is no crack on the scan. They also said it is possible that the limp is actually due to an infection. She has been running a fever for weeks, cannot walk at all, and is refusing food and water now. She sees a specialist tomorrow and I am praying that it isn't too late to fix whatever this issue is. I'm so glad someone finally listened to us and recognized that we were not being dramatic and the dog is not faking anything. read more

I should've believed the poor reviews that I read because those were very accurate. I wasted my time driving my puppy to this place. I made an appointment and we were not even seen. The Vet was rude and kept cutting me off while I was talking and told me there were other vet offices around that could see my dog. We will definitely not be back. Avoid this place. This vet is still doing curbside service. I took my dog for a rabies shot in January and since he is very tiny I said that I wanted minimal shots--only what he has to have for the groomer--and that I would bring him back in a couple weeks for any others that he needs. They gave him the full round including corona and I know that the combination shot is available without it. It was not necessary at that time. I have a younger puppy at home who wasn't fully-vaccinated yet and he was exposed to that live virus from this vaccine. I wasn't inside so they could do what they wanted. While they are still doing curbside, three different people came out to my car without masks. I don't know if I met the actual veterinarian. Someone tapped on my car window to ask about neutering but she didn't introduce herself and did not give me a chance to ask questions and I have questions. I got the dog just before the world shut down and have never been able to be in the room at the vet and ask questions. I want to know how his teeth look and whether his weight is okay for his size and all of those things you talk about when you're there. I want to meet the vet and feel like I know him (or her--no idea which it is). I won't go back for any reason because they did not listen to me and I won't let anyone cut on him who won't even let me in the building. I'm not claiming to know more than the professionals but I don't have to. I'm the owner of the animal and I'm their customer. They should explain why to you and get permission from you if they think they need to do something differently. I won't be back and I can't recommend them. read more

I love, love, love Dr. Beck. He's a genuinely kind, thoughtful, caring vet, but he's not cloying. He's very down-to-earth. He always gives me his full attention, he answers all of my questions thoroughly, and he assuages my (often neurotic) fears about my dogs. He provides sound, sane advice. (So, he TELLS me about the option for the $10,000 treatment that will prolong life by MAYBE a couple months, but he also makes gentle suggestions about the quality-of-life care that is both ethical and financially feasible.) He doesn't try to sell me stuff I don't need, but he gives me honest recommendations and appraisals of products that could be helpful to me. When my puppy recently had an allergic reaction to her vaccines, I was prepared because he'd already told me that this breed was particularly prone to that. (Setting expectations goes a long way, especially for an overprotective "new mom" like me.) When I called him anyway, panicked because I hadn't bought the Benadryl he'd suggested I have on hand, he invited me to come to the office for a shot of Prednisone. He stayed AFTER CLOSE to administer it, and then he didn't charge me. He never insults my intelligence or makes me feel like a bad mother, but instead always makes me feel that my concerns are valid and that I'm on the right path. I started going to this vet primarily because the office is quite close to my house, but I stayed because of the phenomenal staff. The techs, by the way, are also wonderful. They look forward to seeing my sweet, better-socialized dogs, and they are very empathetic to my "problem child." I believe it's Dr. Beck's wife who runs the desk, and she's always very helpful, compassionate, and welcoming. The emphasis is on quality care and relationships, so there are no bells and whistles. The office doesn't look like the epitome of The Future of Animal Medicine, but the people are great, the prices are reasonable, and the care is appropriate but not over-the-top. (E.g. I don't think you're likely to see doggie cosmetic surgery anytime soon. He's not going to insist that you cook all your dogs' meals fresh every day. He's not likely to recommend you get Fifi's chakras realigned.) I appreciate this manageable, comfortable approach. If you live in High Point, I HIGHLY recommend this practice. read more

My son is a student at HPU and has a new puppy. I initially searched on Yelp for a vet in the area and since we don't know the city I chose this clinic based solely on Yelp reviews. My son set off for the first appointment and wow - how disappointing. I was not with him but could not imagine what could have gone so wrong after reading such great reviews online prior to the visit. I placed a call to inquire and as it turns out, Dr. Beck was off that day and Edgar's appointment was scheduled with a fill-in Veterinarian. Big Mistake..... I was encouraged to return and give Dr. Beck himself a chance before writing off this clinic. I scheduled Edgar's next visit with Dr. Beck himself and followed up via telephone the morning of the appt to verify that Edgar would be seeing him personally. The visit with Dr. Beck was wonderful. He spent ample amount of time with my son (who is a first-time pet owner) and Edgar. Dr. Beck was kind, patient and thoroughly explained everything that he did. He allowed time for questions and provided encouraging feedback. So glad we gave Emerywood Veterinary Clinic a second chance. read more

My first visit to this practice with my 5 month old puppy was a great experience. The staff is friendly, helpful, efficient and loving towards my baby. Dr. Beck was awesome. He took time to answer questions and gave me lots of good advice. Most of all he was loving and caring to Sophie. Check in and check out was a breeze which is another plus. I have been taking my dogs to Emerywood vet for over 10 years now and it is the best veterinary office I have ever been to! Dr. Beck is very reasonable and will not charge you for things you do not need. His office staff is very friendly and also very helpful. My dogs have had several procedures done here and they have all recovered extremely well after surgery. I would definitely recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone! read more

My dog was hit by a car a few years back. We drove straight to emerywood vet, and when we arrived we met Dr. Beck in the parking lot. When we explained what happened he said "Sorry, we have no staff in. I can't help you" and got in his car and left. He clearly has no passion for animals nor their wellbeing and I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Will never take my dog or any other pet to this place. We were told that we should have our dog put down. Horrible service!!
