My mom eventually went back only to have the A/C go out and had to find other accommodations. So I have never stayed there; but decided to challenge the bad luck by booking the same room. Bad idea; because the instant I stepped in the room I hated it. The windows overlook nothing except the top of a dirty old building. The room instantly fought back as the A/C decided not to work and within 45 minutes of walking in the door it was 96 degrees and climbing. I don't think this room likes the Rooster family. Welcome to a better room; the beautiful Hill Country Lodge! This country themed room is charming and overlooks Main Street Fredericksburg and all its activities. Nice decorations, bed, bath, and a shower head that could take the freckles off your skin. Our only complaint was the tiny television; think 19 inch. So the price was great at $150 with tax; cursed room aside we had a great time. No breakfast as the name denotes; but on to the brew portion. You have the option to go down to the restaurant/brewery (directly below) and have a free beer or you can do what we did. Line up a sample glass of every beer they make! A few spinning in your head stair steps and your back in your room. Get a HD tv and I'll be back with 5 stars in my eyes.

I loved that there is a little secret (not so secret) path that connects you straight to the castle winery!!! Perfect idea for a girls winery weekend especially if you rather play it safe and not drive, just grab drinks and food next door and walk back to the hotel and enjoy the pool! Honestly it was a great choice, we went to the garrison brothers distillery which is 10 mins from this hotel as well which is also a great thing to have nearby. Upon arrival, the doorman stated that "no pets" were allowed. I calmly explained that my dog is not a pet but a working service animal and attempted to clarify using the two questions permitted by law--though notably, they were never asked. A man identifying himself as "Manager David" approached and stated, "We're not refusing the dog--we're refusing you," while pointing in my face. My partner later called to confirm the policy, and David doubled down, asserting a right to refuse service for "other reasons," which he declined to specify. Whether out of ignorance or intent, this behavior is, at best, discriminatory--and at worst, a violation of federal law under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional information: Emigrant's Inn, Maggie's Speakeasy, Crossroads Steakhouse, and Altdorf Biergarten are all operated by Miraposa Hospitality Group and owned by Gary and Maggie Scripps-Klenzing of Fredericksburg, TX. Update: Rather than responding to my review or attempting to remedy the situation, the owner attempted to have my review taken down. This "triple down" on their part is saddening and should not go unnoticed.

The lady at the checkin building was wonderful! She was very accommodating and put us on the first floor so I didn't have to climb stairs (back surgery in Dec). We stayed in room 4. Upon opening the door, I fell in love! This beautiful room was decorated with antique furniture and just felt cozy! The bed was so comfortable that I got the best nights sleep I've had in over 10 days! The shower was huge and the best water pressure! There is body soap, shampoo and conditioner provided that is made locally at their herb farm. I wanted to purchase from the office, but we were running short of time, so I'll be ordering online! There are robes for your use, that were soft and comfortable! I want one of those too! There is a keurig, microwave and a small refrigerator with a freezer. There is also 4 bottles of local wine on the counter, champagne and beer in the fridge and chips for purchase (mini bar). The room was quiet all night. This place isn't huge, so I felt like we were lucky to get a room here. We will be back in the spring so we can enjoy the beautiful porch area. This morning, we had a wonderful breakfast delivered in a basket! It was delicious! My only suggestion would be to add a boiled egg or sausage patty to have a little more protein with breakfast. The room was appointed in beautiful old world charm. It had a huge king size bed that sits high off the floor, an old hard wood cloths wardrobe and night stands on each side of the bed. It was also furnished with a couch that pulls out into a bed and also a coffee table. The bathroom was great , it has a huge jacuzzi soaking tub that easily accommodates 2 . I had to use the step stool provided for the bed to get into the tub. I am only 5'1 and the tub is so deep that it's hard to get into. Yes here is not much counter space in the bathroom to put toiletries but we made do. There is also a fridge , microwave and coffee maker in the room. The grounds are well kept and the pool area is so relaxing. In the outdoor lounge area there are comfy couches and a fire place. Breakfast baskets are provided every morning and were a great touch. It was an amazing weekend and we will definitely be back.

Thankfully, we found out that it's not quite as expensive as it looks, and we could afford to stay there, so we did! The room was wonderful and very comfortable. I love the stone wall! Only qualm I had was in regard to the shower/tub. The jacuzzi tub itself was amazing, but they put a "rainshower" head above it for showers. First of all, it was a regular showerhead pointed straight down, not a rainshower like those positioned that way should be. A sign asks you to utilize the shower curtain properly so there is no water damage... which is impossible even when using the curtain. It's just a very odd setup. There will be water damage just of how the whole thing was designed. Worst about it all, was how high the tub itself is- if you are in any way disabled (be it permanently or temporarily injured) or elderly, you are going to despise this tub/shower. I'm a 34-year old fit and active person, and I struggled getting in and out of this thing. It's awkward to start with but then add water and oh sh!t, you're going down for sure! We used the stairs for the bed and put them in the bathroom for this reason but it didn't help much. Other than that, everything else was spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the fireplace which was SO cozy! Perfect for the chilly nights we had. They supply firewood and firestarters so it's very easy to make your own. During one of the days, it was warm enough to enjoy the pool too. Breakfast gets delivered in an adorable picnic basket and it's loaded! We expected the norm of simple breakfast options like mini boxes of cereal and muffins. Nope! Hard-boiled eggs, fruit galore, prosciutto, cheese, danishes/pastries, oatmeal, and yogurt. It was different every day and delicious every day. Treat yourself and stay here! You'll be glad you did. If you fear the wacky tub/shower, don't choose room 10. That's where we were but all the rooms are unique and others may have a better layout in the bathroom.

The facilities were clean and the cupboards filled with thoughtful items to make our stay cozy. The bedroom windows looked onto an inviting courtyard. Each morning at 8:30, breakfast and coffee were served in the main house's dining room. The breakfast recipes were decadent and delicious. One morning we had a great time, eating at the table with a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! We would recommend this place to any of our friends.

I ordered the Hometown Fred Burger, and I loved it so much. The meat was thick and juicy, and it had bacon and PEACHES on it! Sounds crazy- but it was one of the best things I've had. The side winder fries sounded weird on the menu- but trust me- get them. Loved them. Hubby ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich, and he said it was excellent. Fortunately, most landed on the table. We had scheduled on line and the limit it showed was 8 on the first screen and then we were given a noted area where it asked how many people, we confirmed 9 people, we paid $180 for this reservation. It did charge for 8 (missed that in the email). When we arrived we asked the hostess ( young dark haired girl not friendly) she answered with an attitude and let us know we had booked for eight and NO they would not accommodate. Part of our group was seated. The rest of the group came in and saw that the two ladies on the end were so crowded at the narrow table it was going to make eating difficult. So I went to ask for a manager. The manager (Chris maybe, bearded guy). He was immediately, defensive and attitude-y. I asked him if it was possible for us to get another table moved over. "NO, the girl already told you. Not possible, we are booked ". Mind you I'm looking around and there are two tables in our room with people, us and another one AND Three empty tables. Each room had more empty tables than they did people. He tells me they are ALL booked. I'm like there is nothing. NOPE. I tell him there is no need to speak with that attitude and rudeness and then I go sit down because I'm not trying to ruin our trip. So a new waiter came, some ordered the lavender mimosas, peach Bellini, Bloody Mary, hot tea & champagne. The lavender mimosa got mixed reviews, very sweet. Bloody Mary and green tea were exceptionally good. We asked whether there was a sugar free coffee option, waiter didn't ever come back. We ordered chicken and waffles, salmon eggs Benedict, regular eggs Benedict and tuna ahi salad & a cinnamon roll. Chicken and waffles was cinnamon forwards but not really a Belgian waffle and the waffle was not hot, you got two chicken strips (the crust was flavorful but the chicken was a bit dry). Two of us paid extra for hot honey, it WASN'T hot or even flavorful! Both Eggs Benedict were cooked right but just warm. Tasted good but the classic breakfast fries could have been cooked longer. The tuna ahi salad was very good although the tuna was a small serving. Asked another waiter About the sugarfree coffee, he suggested and then came back with raspberry latte, tried it but it was weird...No one ever asked if it was okay, no one asked about the lavender mimosa even though we ordered another champagne and pushed it aside . The cinnamon roll was delicious but more of a bread pudding. Overall it was not a great experience. The customer service was lacking. I realize we showed up with an extra person( from the managers viewpoint) but they could have accommodated even if they said we'll try but if all the booked clientele show up then we will have to come get the table. Also after spilling the water on the table and some into a customers lap, the manager should have comped her champagne or something as an apology for the ruckus. Two tables in our section were empty the entire time we were there. There were multiple empty tables throughout the restaurant the entire time we were there.
