I was mainly visiting Fredericksburg to be close to Enchanted Rock State Park where I was going at night to photograph stars and other celestial objects. First of all, the motel reminds me of the ones I stayed in as a kid back in the 60's which I think were referred to as motor courts. The layout is simple, 3 long buildings, each with individual rooms, I was in Room #2. Parking was perfect for me as I parked right in front of my room's door. When you have to drag a lot of heavy photography gear in and out of the car and room, being so close is perfect. No elevator to ride and long walk to a parking lot. The room was sparkling clean, I think it might have been painted recently and the decor had a western feel with a cow skin on the floor and a Mexican serape bed cover. Speaking of the bed, it was super comfy and so were the pillows. The room had a small table and 2 comfortable chairs, the table was perfect for my laptop to use for editing my images and checking email and such. There were night stands on either side of the bed and a TV on the wall, although I never turned it on. The bathroom was great, clean and modern fixtures. It had a tub/shower, toilet and sink. The room had a kitchenette, a small counter with a nice sink and a coffee maker, a microwave was just above on the shelf. I found the 2 burner glass top stove which was stored under the sink and it worked fine for scrambling some eggs for breakfast. The fridge was small but enough room for what I needed, freezer needed to be defrosted but I kept my reusable ice pack frozen for my trip home. The only negative thing I could say is that while they did provide some plates, bowls, silverware and kitchen cooking utensils, at first there were no pots or pans. I called the main number and soon a lady delivered 2 frying pans. Sadly, they were in pretty bad shape, non stick or Teflon was all scratched up. I ended up just going to Walmart and buying a pan for $5. I would recommend the owners get some better cooking necessities like a pan and a pot. Also a roll of paper towels would be better than the Terri cloth hand towel they provided. And most importantly, the AC unit was great and kept my room really cold, even with 100 degree temps just outside. It looked clean, no signs of mold or mildew as some other reviewers noted. If I am returning to Fredericksburg, I will stay here for sure!

You won't find any musty rooms, stained mattresses with tattered bedding or poor service like you will at many of the local 2 to 3 star hotels. However, this place is not cheap either. We got lucky with a $200 a night sale price, but it's not uncommon to pay $500 to $700 a night here. To keep this review as brief as possible I'll just list off the amenities and what we liked and what was missing. The Facilities and dining: nice cicular pool, fitness room with Pelaton, small free coffee bar (no decaf), they do not serve a complementary breakfast here. lots of dining choices such as Junebug BBQ located directly in front of the hotel (closed M+T). We really enjoyed Keidels Pharmacy on the opposite side of the hotel for coffee and pastries. They also have a large bar and restaurant near the check-in. They do allow pets in all the rooms, but they do charge a cleaning fee. I was told someone even brought a pair of kangaroos meaning they are tolerant of different kinds of pets. Our room: It was very spacious with a high ceiling and a firm and comfy bed. They had a mini fridge filled with drinks to pay for and some liquor choices. Walk-in shower was pure luxury, but there is no tub. It had good laminate flooring and effective blackout curtains. Our room came with a TV nook so you could not watch the TV from bed, but not all rooms have that set up. There is a room safe and complimentary water by the bed. You can order room service from the menus in the room. Now for the things that were missing and what we did not care for: No hot tub here, we could hear people walking on the floor above, there was no desk, chair or stationary in the room and it was sparsely furnished. There was no microwave, Kuerig or separate mini fridge. If I was paying $500 or more for a room, I would expect these things to be there which is why there are 4*. With that said, I'd definitely pay $300 a night to stay here again. It's clean, modern and very close to everything you want to see in Fredericksburg. We'll definitely be back. That being said, the piano player and his two guys were EXCEPTIONAL, never breaking stride the entire time we were there and keeping the patrons engaged. They made our night. The vibe was perfect, reminiscent of an actual 1930's bar and with decor that fit the time. Overall, definitely worth a visit...just bring your credit card with a high limit.

The bedrooms were cozy, with comfortable beds and we slept well both nights. The living room is also large with ample seating and gaming tables for the children/adults to have fun. The outdoor area is the best! The pool was perfect in every way. Sparkling clean water with an giant slide our teens had a blast on. The depth was just for swimming or relaxing, and even had a wading area for smaller children and they even furnish a few floaties, toys and beach towels too. For indoor entertainment, we had a blast watching classic vcr tapes and then switched over to regular cable programs. The have dozens of games & toys for little ones and also equipment like playpen & high chair for babies. There's also an office/library with books, computer & printer. There's a washer/dryer to use and a dishwasher too. The owner has honestly thought of everything to make your vacation as perfect as possible.
