We had a great time in Fredericksburg, and it was in part thanks to The Trueheart Hotel. We went in to this knowing it was on a busy road, but that was one of the bonuses, because we were in walking distance of everything. We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here. read more

Terri greeted us when we arrived for a weekend visit recently; there was a slight snafu with our reservation but she quickly found a resolution. We stayed in Chinquapin the first night, and the cozy stone walls and super comfy bed made for a great evening. We moved to Winterberry the second night, it was a little more spacious with a much larger bathroom - can't wait to return in warmer weather to try the outdoor shower! We spent time by the firepit one evening and visited with other guests while enjoying wine and a cigar (him not me!). They have poker chips in your room you can redeem for a margarita at Los Tios, a nearby walk and a welcome change after all the wine! Don't miss out on the biscuits one morning - tasty and butter, jam and honey on the side, as well as fresh OJ. We will return on our next visit to the area to enjoy this hidden gem with easy, walkable access to the heart of downtown Fredericksburg. read more

Lovely place to stay in Fredericksburg. I stayed 2 nights and the location is perfect to be able to walk to the downtown restaurants, shops and sights. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. The only downside is it is located on a slightly busy road with bright lights that make it hard to darken the interior. If you need to sleep in the dark this can be an issue. You also might hear loud trucks, cars or people nearby. read more

What an adorable hotel to find smack dab in the middle of town. We stayed at Trueheart for two nights last weekend and had a great experience. We were in the Winterberry room in a standalone casita and it was super cozy. Big bedroom with high ceilings and a huge bathroom with a wonderful tub. Service is pretty hands off and they only come to the room upon request which I really enjoyed as I am a big user of a do not disturb door hanger. The location truly could not be better. We were walking distance from basically everything we wanted to do except for the vineyards which were an easy 10-20 minute drive from town center. Would highly recommend to anyone heading to Fredericksburg. read more

Grounds are gorgeous. Large bathroom. Very clean and pretty room but loud from traffic till 11:30-6:30. Our door has stained glass which brings in light all night. There is a sound machine but it's loud. Plus if you are sensitive to scents, the sheets & pillow cases, robes all are highly scented. read more

Our Go-To Fredericksburg Getaway We've stayed at The TrueHeart multiple times, and it's hands-down one of our favorite places to escape to in Fredericksburg. The property is incredibly quaint and serene -- you'd never guess it's just one block off Main Street. It truly feels like a peaceful retreat. One of our favorite parts of every stay is the homemade biscuit basket delivered in the morning -- it's to die for and such a sweet way to start the day. We love spending time at the outdoor fire pit and relaxing on the front porch of Room #1, which offers the perfect view for a Hill Country sunset. Mu friend and I came for the weekend to stay at True Heart.... It was delightful. The room is absolutely charming. I enjoyed a beautiful bath in the tub and was able to look out in the trees while I was bathing- which I thoroughly enjoyed. The property is gorgeous. We had coffee by the fireplace on Saturday morning, and there were so many hummingbirds & butterflies... it was a lovely & peaceful experience. The place is close enough to Main Street to walk and it's also far enough from Main Street that it retains the quiet peacefulness I was seeking. I highly recommend this hotel! We also enjoyed the coffee on Sunday morning from the office and the biscuits were absolutely delicious! They really pay attention to special details that adds to the charm. We had so much fun staying here for the weekend. The room was so cozy and tidy!! The bed was so comfortable and I got some of the best sleep of my life. Our room had an indoor and outdoor shower, along with a large bath tub. On Sunday morning before check out, we had a biscuit basket delivered to our room and they were so delicious and filling! We were able to use the main office for meetings throughout the day, and then walk to dinners at delicious local restaurants (Sage, Jack's, Vaudeville) after. We used the outdoor areas in the evenings (playing cards by the fire pit) and were able to walk to coffee shops each morning. Work or play - 100% recommend! Couldn't wait to post a review of the Trueheart after a long trip from Houston to Arizona recently to a new home. We stopped only one night in the second week of May and stayed in #7 Persimmon. Debbie was super sweet and hospitable and let us know that we would wish we stayed longer. We certainly did feel that way when we had to check out the next day! We had been to Fredericksburg several times before and really wished we had stayed at the Trueheart in hindsight if we knew. It's absolutely close to Main Street and the shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms. There were so many nice touches like little chocolates, a beautiful walkway through the cottages, great parking, an outdoor fireplace along with an indoor one in the cottage. The cottages are all newer with great amenities, but there are two buildings on the property that are from the early 1900s as I recall. Great history. Great location off of Main Street. You can hear traffic very well though. Nice cottages with lots of local flowers, shrubs and vines in the landscaping. Lots of outdoor seating including outdoor fireplace with seating for 6. We liked the decor of mimosa cottage 10. Nice vibrant colors with antique touches. Bathroom was huge with jetted tub and shower. Bed was comfy but pillows could have been better. Areas of improvement are as follows: needs free and clear detergent for linens as I'm allergic to scented detergent, needs carbon monoxide detector (didn't turn on gas fireplace for this reason, thermostat was not very responsive at times (was not sure it was even working at times), also needs a microwave. I was not sure how to heat water for tea. All and all I would return. read more

My husband and I just relocated from Los Angeles to Austin and were looking for a unique stay in Fredericksburg as one of our first weekend getaways. My wife and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary in Fredericksburg. We decided at the last minute to spend the night. At like 4pm we got an immediate call back saying that we had an opening. We met with Terri who was very responsive and gave us a tour of two rooms they had available. We chose the Rose Finch which was a quaint cozy upstairs unit. The bathroom was as big as the main living space with a nice walk-in shower. The location is very convenient as it is one block of the Main Street so we walked to shopping and restaurants. Sunday morning we got the opportunity to sip coffee on comfortable chairs by and outdoor fireplace on the lush comfortable grounds. We had an issue with the temperature setting being too warm and Terri quickly resolved over the phone. Alice even stopped by, personally, to make sure everything was okay. We have already told many friends and will stay here every time we go to Fredericksburg. read more

Room was very nice. But, we were sooo disappointed to get to breakfast only to find standard hotel continental fare. At this price point, really hard to understand. We stayed here in April 2015 for our first wedding anniversary. Great spot in Fredericksburg. Prime location just a short walk away from the main street. Also, our favorite sport Fredericksburg Pie Company is also down the road. You have to check them out too. We stayed for 3 nights and our stay was wonderful. Clean large rooms that are very comfortable. Did I mention an outdoor shower? It was very private and clean. The bathrooms are super spacious with separate tub and shower. The basement where they serve breakfast unfortunately flooded due to so the heavy thunderstorms while we were there. But they did their best to get it dry in time for breakfast. Breakfast spread was nice, good variety of foods. We even had a card that welcomed us for our anniversary. We will definitely come back here for our next visit. Haven't been to Fredricksburg very much but this place is by far the best accommodations I've seen. I stayed here with my gf on her birthday and arrived to find a very nice birthday card on the bed. The office and breakfast area are in a century-old building that has been well curated, keeping original doors, windows. Everything that could be kept original has reworked to keep it's history. The cottages are all well-built and modern. I gave the owners much praise on the attention detail-here are a few: - Private outside shower - Hand made soap - Make up towels -custom King beds - outdoor fireplace (with bug spray) The location is perfect; we did not drive all weekend. You are no more than 2-3 blocks from a dozen restaurants and bars. I could talk about this place all day, it's a gem. read more

Stayed here over the weekend for my anniversary and it was nice. The room was cute and the bed was very comfy. It also had a jacuzzi tub and a large shower. I think the coolest feature was the private outdoor shower. It was pretty darn awesome and super refreshing. The only downside to this place, and the only reason why I can't give them 5 stars, is the service. The people are very friendly and nice, but they didn't do a good job of making sure the room was stocked with essentials like Toilet Paper and bath Towels. We had them come to service the room and I still had to go back and ask for things after the fact. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was a minor inconvenience that should be noted. The issues with service weren't so bad that I would steer people away from this place. I would still recommend giving it a chance since it is such a nice (and super convenient!!) place to stay in Fredricksburg. read more

Awww, Leigh n' Ben got mawwwwied!! And we are busy folk who don't got no time for no week long honeymoon, so we decided on a quick trip down to Fredericksburg and the Hill Country to drink some wine and veg out in small towns for a couple of days. I've had Sugarberry Inn on my radar for a little bit now, it looked so cute online (but not all doily frou frou) and a perfect little romantic getaway. Room booked, honeymoon commence! I can happily say it was even better in person. It's in a great location, just a block from Main Street, and I felt like I had the best secret ever walking around town, like we were staying in the best place around. The room itself wasn't huge but it was cozy and perfect. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and I slept like a rock each night. The huge shower was perfect and the clawfoot tub was way relaxing. One thing that struck me is that there were a lot of rules, but these rules keep the place nice... absolutely no smoking, don't use the white towels for anything besides bathing (like wiping up spills or wiping down outdoor chairs, etc.). It did kind of worry me I was going to eff something up and get in trouble for it - haha--but overall I can see their point. Breakfast the first day was awesome (breakfast tacos and fruit) and was a perfect hardy meal for the wine tasting we had to come. The second day we got a voucher, which on one had was kind of a bummer but on the other hand was ok because it forced us to go venture out and try somewhere new. We met Joe the owner a couple of times and each time he was fun and personable. I can't wait to go back! read more

My husband and I decided to plan a trip to Fredericksburg for our wedding anniversary. It was a bit daunting to find the perfect B&B with so many choices, and we finally booked the Sugarberry Inn. The location is about as perfect as you can get in Fredericksburg. The Inn is only a block off of Main Street and walking distance to everything. It has only been open a few weeks and all of the cottages are new construction. When we arrived, we were so pleased with our cottage. It's a beautiful place- a winding trail of one room cottages with an outside fireplace to relax and visit with other guests. We stayed in the Texas Sage cottage and it was perfect. The finishes were top of the line and the owners spared no expense creating luxury cottages. Ours had stained concrete floors, a massive stone fireplace with a flatscreen TV and vaulted ceilings with dark wood detail throughout. There were cute plantation shutters on all the windows (and there were many) and the decor was perfect for the room. The bed was super soft and comfortable. We also had a fridge, microwave and a Keurig for coffee. The bathroom was pretty epic as well. There was a jacuzzi tub and a large shower with frameless glass and a rainshower head. We were so impressed with the finishes- I really can't say that enough. Our cottage also came with an outdoor shower. This was the only problem we had with the cottage, but the situation really demonstrated how awesome the owner is. We were excited about the outdoor shower when we arrived, but concerned that someone next door in the second story could see directly into the space. We mentioned this to an employee in passing and she told us they were waiting on a cover for it. The next day, the owner came in and bolted a large patio umbrella over the space so we could have some privacy. It was above and beyond and we were very impressed with the level of service we received. I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Fredericksburg. If you are looking for a luxury B&B with privacy, this is the place for you! read more

Perfection. Everything is absolute perfection. We stayed in the Persimmon room and it was just lovely. The bed/pillows are a dream, the electric fireplace was romantic, the kitchenette with keurig/fridge/microwave/sink was incredibly convenient. We brought wine with us but forgot the corkscrew. No worries! There was already a corkscrew and two wine glasses in the kitchenette. The jacuzzi tub with jets felt like heaven on my muscles after walking up and down Main Street all day. The shower is giant and the water pressure coming from the rain shower head was perfect. Water comes in nice and hot too. The outdoor shower was super cool but we didn't get a chance to try it out. The stairs leading up to the second floor goes over the shower so it would be kind of awkward if caught naked by our neighbors, lol! The bathrooms themselves are giant. I personally love the floors. More sanitary than carpet in my opinion. The property itself-WOW. The landscaping is gorgeous. Outside our room are 10-15 butterflies just flying around the flowers. We gave the concierge kitty some lovin' this morning and he is just the sweetest! The breakfast is ok, it's the only thing that's lacking however it's not awful. Just average continental breakfast options. Location is perfect from Main Street. Street noise did not bother us, especially since they provided a fan and white noise machine. This was a last minute reservation after being diverted from Florida due to hurricane Dorian. We stayed in the Hawthorne suite and it exceeded our expectations. The decor was warm and inviting. Very spacious with a front porch and rocking chairs which we took advantage of during a morning rain. Joe the owner was at breakfast each morning and was a perfect host lending us tips on the local events and restaurants. Sugarberry Inn was everything we needed for a relaxing long weekend and more! My husband and I (both 29 yo) stayed at the Cactus Wren for 2 nights and had a great experience. The grounds of Sugarberry were clean and filled with lush greenery. We were greeted by Chelsea who was cheerful and pleasant! Our cabin was updated with the most comfortable king bed ever, a huge bathroom w/ jacuzzi tub and a walk in shower with new fixtures! We even had an outdoor shower. Don't know when or why we would have needed this feature but it's fun to brag about. The Cactus Wren is the farthest cabin from the entrance and the close by highway, however, traffic noise could still be an issue to some. We were the closest single couple cabin to the fire pit though! Breakfast both mornings was very nice. Not a huge selection but perfect for a day of shopping and walking on Main St. Joe, the owner was on site during the day and super friendly. If we had needed anything that wasn't already provided I feel like he would have gone above and beyond to get it for us. This will definitely be our B&B for future trips to FDBG, TX. read more

They truly thought of everything when they made these cute little cottages, from the makeup mirror to the white noise machine to the Keurig! This place was a great little place to stay! Its more like a boutique hotel rather than a bed and breakfast - although they did give us a breakfast voucher for our midweek stay. Everything was clean. The bathrooms were awesome and included a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, towels, etc. The electric fireplace was amazing. Be sure to bring socks though as the floors are cold cement! We stayed in the winterberry and loved it. The street noise was also loud - like really loud, so if you are a light sleeper I would suggest bringing ear plugs. It was within a block of walking distance off main street. read more

Sometimes you book a bed and breakfast that presents well online then you show up and discover it's haunted, run by a drifter-looking guy with a lazy eye and a nervous laugh, or walls that are so thin you can hear the couple in the adjacent room panting and groaning as they move the heavy furniture into their preferred arrangement. None of those things are true of Sugarberry Inn. You don't lay awake at night shivering as you listen to the weird creaks and groans of an old house because all of their cottages were built from the ground up by a custom home builder. You don't walk out your door to find the proprietor's son slowly rubbing a dirty rag on the hood of your car as he stares at your wife because their kids live in Austin. You don't show up in the dining room to discover the second "b" in "b&b" stands for bread, bread and more bread products from WalMart. Instead you get eggs, sausage, hot coffee, breakfast tacos, fresh fruit, orange juice, bottled water, milk, orange juice, yogurt, half & half, flavored creamers (french vanilla AND hazelnut), sugar, salt, pepper, 3 kinds of hot sauce, the good napkins, forks, knives, spoons and bagels, all served on fancy furniture that I'm pretty sure once sat outside a Paris bistro when al fresco dining really meant something. I'm not saying you're an idiot if you don't go here. I mean, I don't even know you. You could have plenty of reasons for not wanting to stay at the best bed & breakfast in the lower 48 and I honestly hope those reasons don't involve ill health or family conflicts because then I look like an a-hole for even bringing it up. I'm simply trying to make the point that my wife and I had a wonderful time in a wonderful place owned by wonderful people in a wonderful town with wonderful weather. Maybe that's not the kind of experience everyone wants and, to be honest, it would be hard to replicate because my wife is off-limits for your trip. Even without her, though, this place is wonderful and should be a regular, repeat destination for you if you like nice things. Get there as fast as you can. read more
