RUN , DO NOT WALK , RUN as fast as you can away from this business ! Their website states their reputation is built on a high quality product, customer service and good value. That could not be further from the truth... I wanted to honor my mother with a beautiful fresh bouquet of flowers in a vase . I spent $50.00 .... I received a cheap clear plastic vase with 3 yellow roses , 4 white mums, 4 white daisies and 2 ferns ... when they arrived the white flowers were losing their petals... i was so upset as that was meant for my mother and I couldn't possibly honor her with such a poorly done arrangement... I seriously think they took the flowers out of the garbage to make the arrangement . When speaking with one of the workers Susie , she made no apology, she just kept yelling at me about me being upset. i should have listened to a friend of mine who told me her family used this business for their uncles funeral and that at the wake the arrangements of flowers were falling all over the church's altar floor ....again DO NOT use this business... they get zero stars from me in all areas of their business. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The shop is whimsical, with many different silk flowers, vases and decor to choose from. There is even a waterfall inside! All the flowers sold at Emil's are gorgeous and flourishing. And it doesnt even stop there. There is a beautiful greenhouse in the back, full of succulents and green plants to choose from. And then there is a showroom upstairs!! The florist does a perfect job at making sure your bouquet is lush and full and is always nearby to help you create it. This has always been my place to get beautiful tropical arrangements for special occasions. Last year I had a great one made. This week I needed one, so I ordered in advanced and provided a picture of exactly what I needed. The arrangement I got was similar, except missing yellow filler flowers and for some reason evergreen cedar was used a filler? I specifically noted no evergreens when ordering (since it's before Christmas and they have lots on hand). When I mentioned the error I was told that "the evergreen pulls tropical"... Never ever have I seen a tropical bouquet have evergreen branches and it honestly looked hideous. I had to swap it out with tropical leaves on my own before delivery. Also it was not made in house like usual, but at Felthousen's so I'm sure the original design got lost in translation. Missed the mark. read more

This is one of my favorite local flower shops! Located in Stuyvesant Plaza along the same side as The Pottery Place and Starbucks is this sweet little flower shop. The variety is nice and I enjoy the fact that they have fresh orchids, seeing they're one of my favorite flowers. They do a nice job wrapping things so it would be perfect for gift giving and they also have plenty of pre made arrangements if you're in a hurry and need to grab and go. The "Calla Classique" and "Fashionista" are both nice pieces and I just saw something online called "Spring Bloom" that was quite pretty. Orchids are about $3.50 a stem I believe. Over a week later mine are still doing quite well. Considering I've only changed the water once and left them over the weekend. My daughter's St. Patricks Day piece was adorable and lasted about a week before wilting. Had she cared for it more I'm sure it would still be doing as well as my flowers are. While I really like this shop I can't go a full five stars because they don't have a large lily section and only have the smaller orchids. Then again I've never spotted large orchids around here. Service was very friendly, even on a Sunday when they're just about to close and things were presented very nicely. Give it a try if you're looking for some blooms! read more

I've been coming here for about 4 years now, only for the biggest occasions when I knew I needed to best. I think flowers in general are a bit pricy and Emil's prices are the same as any other floweriest, but you get the highest quality you can get. The biggest Lilly's I have ever seen. Recently went there for funeral flower sets for a loved one. Arrived to the location with a group of family members, upon arriving we were greeted fairly when we old her what type of flowers we were looking for, she said "okay so what do you want?" Something I would just think not to say to someone shopping for funeral flowers but we proceeded to ask for pictures of some arrangements to look over, that went a bit better we had some time to sit and look. She came back and asked us if we were ready to order but we had some questions about the "teleflora" in relation to the store which was advertised in the store and some of the arrangement books. She then gave us a full attitude and said "what about it" we asked some questions and she cuts us off and says "it does nothing for my business and takes 25% of any order, so I don't see the point, no" I understand you have to make your business but I didn't need to know all that especially not with that attitude, and I would think that with participation with "teleflora" is at your discretion. But never the less it is that experience that would never bring me back there. read more

I have been going to this place ever since I was a kid. Their flowers are always very fresh and they can put together a floral masterpiece for you. The customer service is really good too and of course they deliver. How much better does it get when a girl gets a delivery of a dozen long-stemmed roses from her sweetheart? It makes me want to melt. Anyway, stop in sometime because their decor is very nice too and the bonus is that you get to check out Stuyvesant Plaza which is the upscale place to shop in the Capital District hands-down. For several years this was my go-to florist but that has ended today. It's a big birthday for my wife so I spent the most I ever have... and got the worst result. Rather than being arranged in a bouquet the flowers were in bunches, including two sets left in cardboard. I was offered an explanation, but still don't think my wife will be pleased that the flowers were the "easiest to transport that way". Shop local and get great service! I ordered an arrangement for a friend in hospital, but didn't know she was in ICU and couldn't have flowers in her room. A Nagengast staff called ME to tell me that the delivery driver brought the arrangement back (2 days ago) and that my friend had just been moved to a room where she could have flowers. Nagengast put together a NEW arrangement and delivered those flowers today. I can't imagine that using an Internet service would have given me such great customer service. I grew up on 200 Benson St, just three blocks away.. As a kid we use to walk by the design area and get old flowers to bring home. I am talking the early 70's. All my life it has been Nagengast and nothing else. They continue to be the best I can send my family and friends. I am thousands of miles away in CA, they continue to be great to me and my family. I always ask for photos of arrangements I order just to check the quality of my order. I was disappointed in the type of flower combination, amount, and color combination for the cost of the arrangement. Instead of spreading out the colors, they were grouped. Perhaps it was due to using one stem. It seemed they added more greenery then flowers and there way too much spacing in the arrangement. Perhaps my order got what ever was left in the shop that wasn't used and the job was rushed. The flowers did look fresh though. I expected more flowers for the comparable money I spent. Unfortunately, the flowers have already been sent and paid for in advance. I always read reviews for guidance, but this time I was extremely disappointed. read more

My mom sent me an flowers for Mother's Day. Normally they come from her trusty florist, but since I recently moved to NY, she had to find a florist in the area. Nagengast was the florist she chose. When I received the flowers, they were definitely not what we were used to. She told them exactly what she was looking for and what I got was nice, but certainly not beautiful. My mom asked for 24 bright pink and white tulips (because I love tulips). She was told that these pink tipped tulips were bright and beautiful. What I received was a white tulip with a terribly pale pink tip...very, very pale and the flower was tiny. I've never seen such a small, paper-like tulip. I was absolutely underwhelmed. While visiting my daughter and her family a few weeks ago (I live out of state) I took my grandchildren on a little shopping trip. When we returned to my car I found three lovely carnations on my windshield. My inquisitive three year old grandson asked who had left them there and I explained that it was a stranger and that sometimes strangers just do nice things for people. So not only was it a very special surprise for me, it was a good life lesson for him.
