I ordered a floral arrangement to be sent to Keegan's Funeral Home in Albany, NY, for a very close friend whose brother recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. After reading the reviews for the various florists locally, I selected "Blooms by Marie." I called the florist and reached Marie on the phone. I wanted to be sure that an arrangement could be sent on the same day for the wake service, which would start at 4-7 p.m. and be followed by the funeral the next day. Marie asked what I was looking for, and I went onto her website and selected a tall, elegant arrangement. Marie gave me her personal cell phone number so I could share specific flowers and colors that I was considering, along with our sympathy card, because there did not appear to be enough room on the card section on her website for our full message. Marie created a beautiful, thoughtful arrangement that accurately reflected the occasion's solemnity. Marie gets top praise for attentive customer service, timely delivery, and understanding of my preferences during difficult times. Marie was willing to incorporate meaningful flowers and colors to personalize the arrangement, making it a fitting tribute to the deceased. What a unique experience! I was greeted at the door by Marie. I could clearly see that she was slightly under some pressure but she stopped and turned her full attention on me like I was the most important person she knew. Wonderful people to deal with. I called late in the afternoon of 1/4 and ordered a dish garden for my 90 years old brother in the hospital in Albany. Even though my call was late in the afternoon, Marie's made the delivery 1/4 even though they normally stop delivering after 3 pm. The dish garden is huge and beautiful. The dish itself is fabulous. I am in North Carolina and looked on Yelp to find a florist near my brother's hospital and was not disappointed by the best choice shown. I have tried FTD and 1800Florist and have not been satisfied with what they deliver. My last order with 1800 was so bad they gave me my money back. Anyway, calling direct to a florist in the town where the flowers need to be delivered works best for me and I've never been disappointed. Marie's is my Albany florist choice..... One thing I can say about Blooms by Marie is that she has an eye for arrangements. I have went to her twice once for Mother's Day and today for my mothers birthday. When I spoke to Marie this a.m she was pleasantly helpful. I told her what I wanted and she helped me pick the perfect flowers for my moms birthday. I asked for the 75 dollar gerbarber flower arrangement plus delivery which was 15 dollars. So all together 90 for my mom birthday flowers. She told me that she's usually closed on Monday but will take the order. I said okay thanks. She informed me that she will arrive before 1pm. She said I will send pics when they are done before arrival. I said okay and we hung up. I called her back and asked if she can come at 3 because I was bringing my mom out to lunch. She said she had prior engagements and wouldn't be able to do 3 o'clock. I said that's fine we can keep it at before 1pm. She said okay. So I went on to bring mom out to lunch, got back around 215pm. I called her back because I never received pics of the arrangement and the flowers has not been delivered yet. So when she answered the phone she said that the flowers were on the way. I said okay I was just checking because I never got the pics. She said I took the pics I will send them. I said okay. I didn't hear from Marie until about 430 with this story of that she's on her way but she lost her shop keys and could not find them and she's waiting for her daughter to come back with a spare but my moms arrangement is ready and in the car ready to go. I said okay. I did not hear back from Marie only the person that delivered the flowers and that was not until 7pm at night. So at this point I'm a bit frustrated because my mothers birthday was pretty much over by that time. So I asked the delivery person to have Marie give me a call. She called a few mins after and asked her is there anyway I can get compensated for the extreme delay in the delivery? She told me no and that she had to pay the delivery guy and that she lost her keys and that my mom still got her flowers and that she took my order at the last minute. It was extremely rude and dismissive and honestly I wasn't looking for nothing but the delivery charge at least knocked off. I get she's a business and a black owned business at that but it's something that's called customer service and that's how you keep people wanting to come back by having a good experience even when problems occur. She does a beautiful job but for the money and service I should have took my ass to price chopper and got the a similar arrangement for 40 dollars and my mom would have been just as happy. Not sure if I will buy from blooms by Marie again but if I do it will be pick up only for me. read more
