The whole experience was a mess from the moment I stepped in the door this past weekend. I'd heard of Emiliani from a friend who lived in the area, and honestly, I wasn't expecting anything special--just needed a quick wash and blowout before dinner with my boyfriend. Simple enough, right? But from the get-go, I could feel the tension in the air. It was busier than I thought, and when I sat in Pierce's chair, I could already tell he was a little... off. Maybe he was stressed, maybe he had too much on his plate, but he definitely wasn't making me feel at ease. Which is no excuse for how this experience went. First, he started washing my hair, but honestly, it felt like he was rushing through it. I could tell it wasn't really getting the attention it needed. It didn't even feel like a proper wash, just a quick scrub and rinse. I don't know if it was a bad day for him or what, but when he finished, I just didn't feel clean. My hair still felt greasy, and I wasn't about to sit through a blowout with my hair feeling like that. So, I asked him to re-wash it. I figured, no big deal, right? Happens all the time. But instead of just taking it in stride, Pierce got defensive. He didn't take kindly to me pointing out the issue. He didn't even apologize. Just kind of huffed and said, "Fine," like it was a huge inconvenience. I didn't want to make a scene, but I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Like I was the problem. Then, as he finished rinsing my hair, another woman walked in, and I saw his mood shift again. He turned to me and said he was going to put me under the dryer to start on someone else. I was stunned. I asked, no, I want to get my hair blow-dried now, and that's when it really escalated. He just snapped at me, talking down to me like I was being unreasonable and like I was a child. It felt like he was mad that I wasn't just going along with whatever he was trying to do. I didn't want to sit there under the dryer, my hair still wet, knowing I wouldn't get the style I was hoping for, so I said, "No, I'm leaving." I started to take the cape off, feeling so frustrated and honestly embarrassed by how this was all going down. I didn't want to make a scene, but I was really starting to get upset. That's when Madrianne stepped in. She must've seen how irritated I was, and she stopped me as I was heading out the door. She was kind enough to say she'd finish my hair. I was so relieved, and honestly, so grateful that at least one person there wasn't making me feel like I was asking for too much. As I stood there, waiting for her to fix the mess, I could hear Pierce and his attitude in the background. His frustration was palpable, and it only made everything feel worse. At one point, I heard him talking to Madrianne, justifying why he had done what he did. The whole time, I couldn't stop thinking--Is this what the salon's like? Is he always like this? When I was finally done, I just wanted to get out of there. My boyfriend, who had been quietly waiting, was livid. He asked if Pierce was the owner or manager, and you could tell he was furious. As we were told he was the manager. He was ready to leave and never come back. And honestly, I was too. We left the salon, and I couldn't shake the feeling that the whole experience had been unprofessional. The way Pierce treated me was honestly just rude. I didn't feel respected, and I sure didn't feel like I was being taken care of. I kept thinking, If this is how they run things here, I won't be coming back. I felt bad for Madrianne--she was the only one who seemed to care about getting my hair done right. She was kind to me, and I appreciated that. I wish I was with her from the start, I feel like the entire experience would have been different. But everything else about that day? It was just bad energy. I left the salon feeling more stressed than when I walked in, and I'm still not sure I'll give them another chance. read more

I was looking for a new hairstylist and colorist and found this salon on Groupon. I don't remember the lady who cut my hair but I know she was about a year new at the salon. She was very nice, and I told her that I wanted to grow out my hair and wanted it styled a certain way. She listened and gave me a great cut and blowout. The salon is downtown, which could pose some parking issues depending on what time of day your appointment is. Do not go to Pierce for a blow out. I booked this two months ahead of time and never knew who was doing my hair till the week of. I was coming from out of town and staying in a hotel for a wedding weekend. He does not know how to style. Even said does more hair cuts than styling. Why have him do a blow out? Even during my blow out he had someone the next day to do a bun and was trying to practice on me. Then a phone call to do eyebrow waxing, and just asked if he's able to do one, shouldn't it be an experienced person or at least do a few in person to make sure it's good? I found this place on Groupon and it was a true miracle that I did. I needed a haircut desperately and they were available for the time slot I requested/made an appointment for (very last minute) but they do take walk ins as well. Ironically the person that cut my hair has my same name, Christina :). She is absolutely wonderful and great at what she does. Called to get a blowout, Greg who answered the phone was super helpful and said Isabel would be helping me with my blowout. He said it would be $45. I arrived, everyone was super nice. My hair got a bit tangled in the sink and it literally felt like she was ripping it out trying to brush it but she said it was just super tangled. I chatted with her and Greg while she finished the blowout. They were super nice. I went to checkout she said $60. I explained Greg said it was 45$ and she said it was an extra 15$ for the "thermal". I asked what that was, and she said it was because she used a curling iron. Since when is a curling iron use not included in a blowout?!?! I get blowouts all over the country and have never heard this. I paid it and went on my way. The next week when I washed and styled my hair I had so much breakage I literally cried. So upsetting. I am giving them 3 stars because Greg was so nice who was running the place but very upset with how my hair was taken care of by Isabel and I unfortunately did not realize it until I washed it the following time. read more

I can't say enough about my experience at Emiliani Salon and Spa. I moved here from Austin,Texas, last October and have gone through two stylists, two horrible experiences and they could not get my color or cut right. Last Saturday the girl in Dunedin turned my roots orange and gave me a jagged razor cut that had me crying. The two different experiences of color correction prior to me finding Emiliani Salon were not good to say the least. I had made a post on Palm Harbor Happenings looking for a professional stylist who is knowledgeable in blonde, color correction and who works on thick hair. Well I got about 100 responses overwhelming me with kind people reaching out with recommendations. I noticed Emilian Salon had quite a few recommendations from clients and from several stylists, even the salon manager from Clearwater Nicole reached out. I decided to book a consultation at the Tampa location and met with the amazing Greg Gibson a master colorist and educator as well. I can't tell y'all how grateful I am for finding Greg and this amazing salon. He listened to me and really took his time going through how he would color correct the mistakes and go from a yellow orange root blonde to an all over gorgeous cool ash blonde balayage. He made time for me to come in and I went in yesterday at 1:00, he patiently did my hair with attention to every detail. He transformed my hair into a gorgeous cool blonde that I absolutely LOVE I mean it's the Best it's ever looked. I watched others get their hair done by other stylists there and their clients looked stunning as well, lots of talent here, extremely friendly and caring. This Salon really is passionate about what they do. Also, I took advantage of a 3 for 3 promotion which chose to include a much needed Oxygen facial by Stephanie. She is amazing as well, I will be returning for facials as well. Don't go here if you have thick, dark ASIAN HAIR. $50 for a hair cut (though they only just trimmed mine) & $120 for a full-head color. I called ahead to tell them about my hair and they claimed they know what they're doing. The stylist showed me a picture from Pinterest and we agreed on the color for a full-head. My hair came out way darker than the photo intended - way darker than my natural dark brown with light brown streaks. The stylist knew they botched it and was like "live it out for a few days and let me know if you want me to fix it". They brought me out to the sun to see if the red will show - my hair was "too shiny" to even tell so they took me back inside to see under the ring light. "You can see it took the color!" said the stylist. Right, because I'm gonna walk around with a ring light on me..... They kept saying "this never happens. This never happens". Well it happened. And if they had an inkling it would happen they should have pushed for a different technique using laypeople terminology. If they had an inkling they don't know how to do thick dark VIRGIN ASIAN HAIR they really should have told me on the phone it's not their specialty. They also suggested it didn't work because of the "pills you take at home". I'm sorry what? That was quite assumptive, and yes they used the word pills. I was so unhappy when I left. I "lived it out" for the next week. And when I messaged the stylist I was genuinely unhappy and asked how much to fix it, they responded with me making an appointment for a "consultation". I went back in and they quoted $150+ to fix their mistake. I declined in disbelief they would charge me anything over $25 to fix what they messed up. Mind you, during the consultation they suggested we do a "test strand". I'm not a guinea pig for someone who claims to be a hair professional charging boutique pricing. Other than my overpriced trimmed hair and reasonably priced botched hair coloring, the salon is very clean. The staff is kind. The music is good. read more

Greg is amazing! I'll be honest, i don't know a whole lot about hair. But Greg was SO helpful and educational. He gave me some good tips for taking care of my hair. You can tell he knows what he's doing and does it with ease. The salon it's self is really nice as well. The decor is stylish & relaxing.
