Do not do business with this man. We asked for a quote for a large acrylic picture frame, to which Emilio gave us a price for. We were designing this frame for a client who required specific dimensions and materials. At first, Emilio said that he may not be able to do it for us, but needed to let us know. A few hours later, he called back to let us know that it was possible, and asked when we wanted to proceed (he requires 50% deposit to start the process, which we didn't pay him yet as we weren't confirmed). He told us that he would be able to fabricate it, but not install it and that we needed to call his installer and mover ourselves. Keep in mind- this is $4,500 frame, and he wanted US to make another phone call to someone he works with instead of just scheduling it himself. Well, the guy he referred us to said that he couldn't install it and that it would have to be Emilio. After back and forth and back and forth with this guy, we found another supplier who was able to create the frame for less than Emilio, and deliver and install without any issues. Skip ahead four days later, and Emilio calls back threatening to find out our business address and show up at our office, because we didn't use him. He said that we were rude and had no manners because we "bugged him" for 24 hours. All we wanted from him was a quote, and he had the nerve to throw a temper tantrum like a four year old child when we didn't move forward with him. Framing Solutions on Robertson is a much more professional company, and they won't have a complete meltdown if you decide not to go forward with a project. read more

Emilio and those at his shop do a SPECTACULAR job! Not only is Emilio warm and nice, he's a real pro. When my art was shaped oddly and warped (due to the fact that it was rolled up for ten years--not his fault), Emilio ran into a problem. Instead of giving up or using his best judgement, he called me and gave me options for how to get it done the way I wanted. It's that attention to detail that will keep me coming back over and over! So fabulous to have someone so wonderful right in the neighborhood! His quotes were less than other framers in the area. He even does work for museums I've been to! Thanks so much Emilio! He also works with plexiglass/plastic for framing masks and memorabilia and because he does so much of it, I've found him FAR more affordable than others. Solid spot! I was looking to get a pastel caricature framed (don't judge, it has sentimental value) & Emilio's met all my framing needs. I really had no idea what I wanted other than the obvi, so they walked me though everything. Walked out with a dope frame, plexiglass (because if it were ever to fall, glass might rip up our picture- never would have considered that on my own), & a 2" matte border. It was around what I expected to pay for a 22x27 portrait, and I got it within a week. The picture was literally rolled up (& not neatly, mind you) for 5 years, so to see it so perfectly laid out without a single crease was amazing. Both men were super friendly and helpful. One of them carried out the framed portrait out to my car. I will definitely be back for any future framing needs. Just note, *parking is metered & parking enforcement is on it. *if possible, pay in cash. You'll save yourself the tax. *50% deposit is required. read more

I just got ripped off. $350 for 5 pieces of plexi-glass (1/8" thk). Yes, I should have waited to hear back from some other companies in the area, and I should have done some more investigation on the standard price of plexi-glass ... because a couple of other local companies could have done the same job for less than $100!!! I talked to the owner, and said, "I think I'm being ripped off, how can you guys charge so much more ... and you have the material in stock." He came down from $389 to $350, (he removed the tax). Still highway robbery. Too bad I had already given him my credit card information, and he said he already started cutting the plastic. Note: don't rush into it ... call one more place ... because you might be getting ripped off if you have your work done at Emilio's Custom Framing. read more

I was looking to frame my grandmother's Chinese dress which is over 70yrs old and very delicate. Not too many places frame dresses and I was referred to Emilio by the owner of Alan Jefferies (a boutique frame store in Santa Monica). Emilio's shop is located on Pico just east of Fairfax. He's super friendly, warm, extremely knowledgeable and has his workshop on site. He was patient in looking through the various options of linen backing with me and explained in detail what the work to be done entailed. When I saw the finished product, I teared up and hugged Emilio. He framed the dress beautifully and chose the right size for the box so that the dress is highlighted properly. I just got my framed artwork back from Emilio's and man did they do a beautiful job on it. It was a slightly unusual treatment - mounting a sketch on a raised foam or matt board inside a frame and under glass - and the finished product is stunning. What I especially loved: their attention to detail and measurements. I didn't realize that "if you want this type of frame it needs to be slightly deeper because we need an extra 3/8" for what you want to do" - stuff like that - so there was no room for error. This is a great framer. He has great talent in his work shop and he is creative. I love going here..it is fun. I have nothing to compare the pricing because I don't go anywhere else but I am happy to pay what im charged because the materials are good and the craftsmanship is excellent. I needed to have hangers attached to a large rectangular mirror. I had planned to hang it horizontally. When I picked up my piece, Emilio had placed hanging attachments, horizontally and vertically, so if I ever wanted to change the mirrors position, I would have the option to do so. He did this, at no extra charge! His shop has an amazing selection of frames. Framing is an art form and is expensive. Emilio is an Artist and will charge you far less than his talent is worth! read more
